kara could basically feel the burning glare of her torchic as she seemed to focus on something in particular. what it was? truly, the chicken pokemon's trainer had not a single clue until it started flame charging her way towards the quaxly. although the water type was a duck and not exactly a chicken, the torchic seemed to have some kind of vendetta against it at first sight. was it because kettle had dropped it into a puddle of water by accident a few days back? poor petty girl.[break]
"sorry, it seems she's got a bit of a crush," kara sighed as she picked up her torchic by its flaming turnip head and plopped her into the wicker basket on her back. the other torchic within popped its head out as well, both of them glaring at the quaxly as if it was some super villain when it hadn't done anything at all. "i'm kara," the cerulean girl introduced herself flatly, "como estas?" she added, one hand rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment. it wasn't her intention to meet someone new that day, but she supposed all was fair in the wilder areas of hoenn.

a fellow paldean boded well with kettle, the ears on the demon-styled hoodie she typically wore almost flopping around in excitement. "mucho gusto conocerte, leonicio!" two hands grasped onto his own before anyone could blink, the blue-haired typically sleepy-eyed girl now excited to have someone from her home region. it seemed not many came from paldea and roamed into hoenn, so this was a wonderful treat ...[break]
even if her excitable torchic had made a mess of the poor quaxly's 'do'. "man, yeah ... sorry little buddy. what do you want?" kara had little more than some pocket lint and a few stray coins on her body so she wondered if giving up a pokeball or two would do. that was pretty much the only thing she had that was of value aside from putting up her torchic herself for adoption. with a glare at the fire chicken, the torchic seemed to start bouncing back and forth on its stubby legs as if it knew what her trainer was thinking.[break]
"oh ... ok," kara said glumly, like a child called out to the principal's office. she was about to fully act the part without knowing by sitting cross-legged on the grass under her when -- a wild cyclizar was going to run into the fray![break]
it didn't seem to want to fight, it was simply enjoying a stroll out in the wild but it would likely run over or at least ram into one - if not both - of the pokemon getting engaged in a heated battle. "what do we do?" she asked of her torchic who knitted its brows down boldly, flapping its useless wings to speed itself up towards the cyclizar with an aerial ace to divert its path and also damage it enough for capture. kara seemed unsure for a moment, pokeball dead in her two hands as if it was a large round rock she was carrying for someone. she took a moment before snapping into focus and threw the mini-universe container at the weird transportation ... bike ... dragon ... thing. "hey good thinking ..." kara mused out loud to her torchic who stood proudly, back arched. this pokemon could come in handy for deliveries. maybe the little help she provided regarding it almost crashing into the scene between the quaxly and its trainer would also come in her favor, though kara was not hoping for much - already on the brink of throwing her hands up to get cuffed as if she had committed a grave offense.

in a manner that mimicked the infamous peanut butter baby meme, kara responded in a brief but accepting manner. glaring at the devilish torchic of the twin set, it simply cackled in a half-chirp, half-singsong manner. "a cat?" she asked, somewhat curious before the skiddo became her new focus of attention. that would make a nice enough goat parallel for the ranch and could become a beast of burden if need be. rubbing her chin, she sized up the pokemon. the foliage on its body gave away that it would be weak to fire types, so why not give capturing it a go?[break]
a flare blitz later and she was smelling embered leaves, wondering if they would taste good in a stew. standing by with an aerial ace in case it tried to get up and wander off, kara dunked a pokeball more assuredly this time around - giving her torchic a small thumbs up for its cooperation to which it simply shook her tailfeather in a sassy manner as if to say 'yeah, you're fucking WELCOME'.

unfortunately, her 'devil' torchic was out and about. had it been the kinder of the twins, it might have marveled at the quaxly and tried to become quick friends with it. this little shit, however, simply kicked her feet on the ground and ruffled her own feathers as to seem bigger than the water type - trying to seem scarier and better than it.[break]
its chance to show up the quaxly came in the form of a dartrix that was singing on a branch. poor fellow bird. it didn't know the big storm it had coming. a flare blitz run into a flamethrower to the face all but cooked the dartrix fully as the torchic wouldn't stop until it had the pokemon pulverized and tenderized for capture. kara watched, not having given a command of any sort and just being more of the pokemon than the trainer. "yeah, it's really cool isn't it?!" her sarcasm meter didn't work at all and it was evident in the way she bounced over to her new 'friend', showing him the pokeball excitedly as if they were looking over cards to trade. "what have you caught so far? what type of pokemon do you like to have?" she may have been getting all up in his face, but she was genuinely curious and excited - showing it through their proximity and her excitatory words jumping out of her mouth.[break]
in the meanwhile, her torchic really did act the role of the trainer and took a pokeball from her owner to dunk it violently onto the dartrix it had been fighting with.

"ehh ... if i had to compare it to something - maybe like a mignon cut on a miltank?" a pokeball on her belt quivered at this thought. perhaps her miltank had overhead this and didn't like the response. despite leonicio's expert attempt at hiding his intentions, kara openly did not mind talking about it. "aren't they super rare? i imagine you can get a good chunk of change for that thing - enough to crank the gumball machine a few times, at least." her idioms were likely lost on him, but she was happy to make up that loss by chucking her torchic at the bounsweet that was rolling around as if it didn't have little legs by which to titter around. a flare blitz later and it was a crispy apple-like concoction with swirly eyes, a pokeball plunking onto its face in an attempt to catch it.[break][break]
"is that all you were looking for then, mr. leonicio?" kara asked him curiously, obviously trying to be a good helper after this strange meeting of theirs. "dunno what much else we might find out here, but we can keep lookin' if that appeases you." she did not seem one bit bothered by losing a chance on a shiny, simply enjoying the pokeballs that were pouring into her pack with a wide smile on her face.
