This direction didn’t yield any sign of his partner, either—just how thick was this damned-ass pink mist anyway?!

“Frog?!” he would call, voice cracking as he strained himself to look above and through the ‘cracks’ of air that the Noivern was now cleaving through the area.

“Can you hear me?!”

He would then wave his fingers in the deaf Noivern’s direction, before gesturing in a wide sweeping circular motion and then flapping his hands together like the same set of wings from earlier.

What he wanted her to do, should she understand, was to sweep away a wide arc of wind through the area; and hopefully when the ‘cracks’ dissipated, he would be able to find where his partner had seemingly disappeared off to…

[attr="class","leymain"]His nightmare weaves around him, changing like shifting sand. There’s a pulsing light, somewhere, the threatening hum of a scan, zipping beneath his feet. The space around him is empty and cold.

He’s staring down through a clear layer of… something. And from his feet sprouts a reflection of legs, taller and broader and wider; they lead up to Alex’s torso, Alex’s head, Alex’s dead, emtpy eyes.

Can you hear me?

The head lolls sideways. Blood shoots from its open neck.

“N-no,” he covers his ears, falls to his knees. “No, p-please.”

A loud swooshing noise and the mist parts. The image fades, wreathing away like smoke. Turning, there’s the image of spread wings in daylight. Guillermo blinks away his tears.

“S-sibella?” he asks, voice breaking.

Another blink, and he’s awake. The pulsing light, the garroted Alex, it’s all gone. The mist is crawling up the far wall as whatever caused it begins to settle. It’s just him and Sibella and Alex, standing in the damaged gym.

The silence is deafening.

He had no idea how to sign the words ‘thank you’ to the bat-dragon; however the moment the mist had dissipated and seemingly returned from whence it came he immediately bolted. Bolted to where his partner had been desperately looking for him.

“Memo!” he would all but scream when he saw the other man.

Not caring if he’d trip over himself as he approached—literally running before falling to his knees and catching his partner in a bone-crushing hug—the need for physical contact to reassure the other that they weren’t alone; that they were here and that they were alright.

“I’m here, I’m here, I’m here…” he repeated quietly; over and over, reassuring his partner that he wasn’t seeing things.

That he was there with him.

“That,” he would begin—making sure that none of that stupid pink mist would dare show up, “…that was something that can show anyone who sees it, inhales it—their deepest desires… and their worst nightmares all at once.”

It came in three flavors; pink, purple, and then we don’t talk about the black-colored smoke. That was the single worst one ever. He’d already encountered it a few times—albeit not with him—and never wanted to speak of those encounters ever again.

“And it’s been leaking all over the damned region for fuck knows how long.”

He could feel his partner’s trembling arms squeezing him tight, tight, so tight that he felt his own skin going numb; but that was neither here nor there.

“Don’t think about it anymore. We’re here, together, and that’s all that matters.”

“Whatever you saw in the mist—don’t think about it. Focus on the here, the now… I’m here with you,” he would constantly reassure the other.

He had some idea about what the other had seen in the mist; and while he thought he saw things at the edge of his own vision—he knew better than to pay attention to the accursed phenomenon.

“C’mon, I’ll bring you home,” he added as he stood up; surprising strength for a limp noodle like himself and carry his partner bridal-style back to their flat.

How was he going to signal to Sibella for her to follow them, though—as his hands were currently full? He would then turn to the bat-dragon, tilting his head in the direction of the flat—hoping the Pokémon would understand what he meant to convey without words.
