you experienced what could probably be described as a normal life. you had what every child dreamed of having: parents who doted on you and brought you gifts and your favourite foods and their endless devotion. except.. what those kids didn't realize is that you felt alone anyway. for the better part of your childhood, you lived with your grandparents. your parents always assured you that it was temporary and they would find jobs better suited to spending more time with you.[break][break]

but money is addicting. and soon enough, you started to resent the fact that you never saw mom and dad. you started to fall in love with the parenting that your grandparents gave you. they never once complained, or talked down about your parents. it seemed normal, that your mother and father worked so hard and you never got to see them. and besides, you really, really liked to help grandma and grandpa with the daycare.[break][break]

the daycare in question started as a lowkey, run of the mill building. grandpa had bought it in his youth, vowed to finish it, but had never gotten around to it. the place seemed condemned, and it was swarmed with rattata and patrat who had made their homes in the foundation. but he had seen you one day, playing with the wild pokemon just inside. it had sparked motivation, seeing you in your element. you were born to spend your life taking care of pokemon.[break][break]

so, with the help of several contractors and your expert opinion, the 'collin's family daycare' was born. at first, it didn't generate a lot of business. mother and father tried to encourage them to sell the property and move into lilycove city. stubbornly, however, you refused. you had never disobeyed or challenged your parents before, and it stunned them. so, they let you continue working alongside your grandparents, who were even more passionate about this little project of theirs.[break][break]

before long, you became quite the familiar face in little mossdeep city. soon enough, the daycare on the hill had become a stellar hotspot in the area. trainers from all over hoenn had begun to visit and let their pokemon hang out with you and the babies. yes, that's right. one day, your grandpa came home with a shipment of eggs. he told you that you were the best breeder he had ever seen, and had trusted you with the care of those precious babies. they hatched the morning of the move. the 'collin's family daycare' had become so popular and renowned you had taken your parents advice to move to lilycove city. it meant moving closer to mom and dad, but it also meant that business would boom even more. lilycove was essentially the hot spot of hoenn, after all. the babies hatching meant the move was more tumultuous and stressful than originally anticipated, but it was exciting and the next step in your journey.[break][break]

moving to lilycove is also where you met judith joy, a young and becoming woman who didn't seem to have the same drive to becoming a nurse that her sisters and aunts and extended family had all had. she was an amazing nurse, but was clearly destined for something different. the two of you hit it off quite easily as a result of your frequent visits to the pokemon center, and her visits to the daycare. jude was probably the first real friend you had.
