Difficult. It was difficult to discern, at a glance, what kind of people one dealt with in this area. The sides involved with this conflict did not necessarily all wore uniforms colour coded for her convenience. Shizue sighed to herself, softly. It was a bother. Truly, she was made for lab work, not field work in a combat zone like this.

Sadly though, she had been separated from her group, so there was no helping that. The only way was forward, until she found a bigger group again and that would simply be it. Rational. Simple. A plan of action that even an ape could formulate, in her opinion, but still a decent enough one.

It bore fruit soon, too. In a way. She had her Elektek take the lead. First, because it was decently imposing. Second, because if she was to run into an issue, he could either take care of that, or at least take the brunt of it. Caution was key, so she kept a measured pace and had him walk ahead even as she saw something akin to a structure. Hence, it was the one stepping onto a minor trap instead of her, grunting in displeasure at whatever result that might have.

Ugh. Loud and gooey. That was an annoying combination. Gooey she could take and that made sense. But why did there have to be a scatterbang? Her ears, sensitive as they were, rang for a bit longer, even as Elektek tried to get out of the goo. Fortunately, there was a simple solution for that. Still holding her head to the side, Shizue recalled that one to her Pokeball, just before some other person became visible.

A pinkette with a golden Steelix. Probably some form of grunt of whatever faction held this structure. Though the woman in the lab coat worn over hiking gear did not appear to prepare for a fight seeing this or anything such. Instead, she just gave the other person a curious glance. “Good evening,” she noted, slightly bowing as was customary. It was evening here, though that was somewhat difficult to see in this place, admittedly. Shizu still ensured that she would keep track of the proper time, regardless.

Right out of the gate with demands. Had to be league personnel. To be expected, really. With Rockets, she would probably have moved on to the next stage already, depending on what that was on a given day. For the time being though, she had to deal with that development.

Hence, she shrugged. “Murasaki Shizue. Researcher in the fields of biology and chemistry.” That wasn’t a lie. And since she was not exactly someone who made a lot of waves outwardly, she doubted that her Rocket affiliation was known to many. Not that she felt too strongly about it anyway. Initially, she had gone with the Rocket side of things because they had seemed more open about poisonous research topics, but she had not seen that much of a moral high ground in the league either.

Hence, she shrugged once more. “I was travelling with a research group but got separated. Things are quite intense out there.” Though technically they were here, too. Even though she remained calm, collected and most importantly neutral, it was probably a dangerous situation still.

Said reaction was just a shrug. “Rocket, League, doesn’t really matter. Both have hot-shots that just see anyone they don’t know down here as an enemy. You didn’t attack right away, so that’s all that matters.” Well, technically. Now that she had identified league, she was at least partially obligated to look for some means of sabotage if an opportunity presented itself. A steel type was always a bad matchup for a poison type specialist, so she was not really itching to turn this into a fight.

Besides, she was only with Rocket because they made research easier. She did not have an ideological reason to just lash out at anything not rocket-shaped. Another shrug as she reached down into her satchel. “I did not exactly bring my wallet down here, obviously. My tablet has some research correspondence and papers with my picture on it if you want to see that.” Shizue tapped on it, but received no reaction. “As long as you have some port I can use to recharge it. Usually it lasts longer.” Briefly, she furrowed her brow, wondering just why this had so quickly lost charge.

Ah, that judgmental gaze. She was used to it. From both sides, really. Shizue was not as religiously hating the League as some of her compatriots, but she had long since accepted that this ran on both sides. Really, sometimes she did wonder where the difference laid.

At least this girl was superficially polite. “Good, good. You will find that I am the person I say I am.” Well, it was not that difficult. Though it would probably be more difficult in the future. Once someone found that she was affiliated with the Rockets, she probably would need a second identity. Or not. Too much hassle. She would have to settle with being treated like this.

Not like she wasn’t treated like a criminal already. For now, she casually followed. There was a trojan on that tablet just in case, but she was not quite sure she wanted to risk using that. It had come pre-installed on that thing just in case she got an opportunity like this. But that did not mean she had to act on it. “Neither of us should be in this place on our lonesome, though. This place apparently induces paranoia in certain individuals. You should be careful.”

“If I was truly sure of anything, I would not use the word ‘apparently’. Language has to be precise to properly convey meaning,” she replied. It was always annoying to speak to non-scientists in that regard. And pretend scientists. And lazy scientists. Honestly, there were only few who truly care about precision of speech. She screwed up too, at times. But that was just human. Shizue tried, at the very least.

But she figured that this girl was not quite as abrasive as she acted, in a manner. “Observing these things is part of my research. Technically I am a toxicologist, not a psychiatrist, but this might be a biological reaction.” She did not go any further in-depth on that, instead pulling out a cable to connect the tablet. Fortunately, she was not one that carried Rocket paraphernalia on it or anything. There were some company-issue standard programs on it, but she doubted the other would notice. Besides, she pulled up E-Mails from her time at university up, including her old ID from there that she had to send for an internship.

“Did you hope I was not?” The League certainly was bloodthirsty these days. As if they were always looking for some kind of reason to assault others. Granted, her being a Rocket probably was one. And she likely would not be able to keep up the ruse she wasn’t much longer after this, at least if these guys were good enough to connect the dots gathered from some encounters.

But to her, that alone should truly not be reason enough for one to fight. But, apparently, she was the only rational person here. Shizue sighed. Though, admittedly, the tablet probably put some kind of malware into the system anyway. It wasn’t quite not prudent to distrust Rocket. Though she would not have given this without being forced to. So, in the end, that would be the girl’s fault. “Either way, can you tell me which way proper safety lies?”
