"no, i meant - oh, nevermind." the blush deepens, brows furrowing, and she stares scathingly after mei a moment longer before her attention is pulled away. king comes around the bar and her features relax into something more coy. more playful.

her legs part. the dress hitches around her thighs, teased up by his hands and her own movement. she cocks her head to the side and fiddles with the towel over his shoulder, admiring the sweat still drying on his bare chest.

"mm, maybe. but i think i'll wear it just a little bit longer. break it in, so to speak." she thumbs the lip of his pants teasingly, thumb glancing his waistline, before she draws that hand away to reach for her drink.

she grins suddenly then and asks, "when i came back to you that first night, there was someone else at the bar. she was drinking a martini. were you going to take her dress off, if i hadn't shown?"

her sip is small and slow, lips dancing over the rim of the tumbler. goosebumps rise over her skin where his mouth hovers and she swallows the whiskey tersely, lower lip twitching as self control slips by a fraction.

"she was. and she sure looked a lot prettier than me." what with her matted hair and strung-out body, mania in her eyes.

"but i don't remember. she hasn't been back since." smug satisfaction follows the shifting in her seat, thighs squeezing lightly around his sides. "like mei was saying. maybe i'm bad for business."

"what, are you thinking of remodeling?" nameless isn't meant to be a spot on the map for bigwigs. when you walk through those doors, you're just like everyone else. it's the first thing he stripped her of when she came to this place. he took her name and made her earn it back.

"fifteen dollar cocktails? maybe some plush carpets for the fighting rings?" she looks smug.

the whiskey has kissed her with a faded pink over her nose and her cheeks. she doesn't even look past him at mei and whatever bloke she's spending part of her night with. no, instead she blows a soft snort and curls her fingers against his chest.

"perhaps i'm just smitten with you. would that be so bad?"

"you? yes. so posh, oozing affluence. i'm sure i could find some investors," she says, words just a little slower on the draw. despite the muscle she's gained working out with him, she's still no match for a couple of glasses of whiskey.

"mm, well, they don't matter." and, forgetting her manners, she leans forward and gently bites his collarbone.

but she brightens at the mention of the dragons. "aw, they'd love that. i was thinking maybe that sparring warehouse you use can house some there too?"

he runs his fingers through her hair and she looks up at him as though to consume him. her pale gold eyes have always been intense and tumultuous, but when they rest on him, those attributes are amplified.

the liquor certainly doesn't help either.

"they lose their edge, sitting in their pokeballs. it's not a simple task, keeping a dragon tamed." but he knows that. aside from having his own dragons, freya's a walking encyclopedia with an obsessive fixation.

"are you implying i'm angry, king?"

she turns her head then, gathering herself, and pointedly turns her attention to her empty glass. this, she raises between the two of them. an obstacle for him and a halfhearted attempt to keep her dress on longer for at least another half hour.
