It’s not easy running your own city base– Wren’s learned that fast and hard. Not that he’s ungrateful for the opportunity, or the chance to live in his home city again. It’s easier to finish up the tail end of his degree there, and he’s glad to be close to his family again.[break][break] Even more so to have settled back into a closer knit routine with Levy Alinsky again.[break][break] Missing him, or feeling guilty for creating physical space between them no longer weighs heavy on his mind. So while it’s stressful, and the learning curve is steep as heck, Wren’s happy. (Not that he’s ever acted anything but happy. Still, he feels it.)[break][break] It’s this that draws him back to Evergrande– intent on dropping in on ollie morales so that he can thank the other captain again. Properly, this time. In person. For mentoring him, for being a friend when everything was so new and daunting. For advocating for him.[break][break] For being there.[break][break] All of that forethought falls to the wayside, though, as he retraces the familiar route to Ollie’s apartment door and finds it ajar. It’s not right. Something’s off. Face paling, he wastes no time pushing it so that it swings open.
