Colton rose to his feet unsteadily, Arti floating over to help him back to his feet. He couldn't stop himself from looking at the communications array and the wires lining the walls. It felt like a betrayal, having the tech he found solace in used against him in such a violent way. But it also served as a horrible, painful reminder that attempting to master this space, bend it to his will and ward away whatever machinations boiled beneath the surface, was a fruitless effort. And one that seemed to shake even Navy to his core.
That was the worst part, watching this man who had served as the bedrock for their expeditions cowering in fear in the face of overwhelming, unknowable terror. To make him turn tail and run, what chance did they have to ever fully understand what the hell was going on in this place? And yet, Colton knew that Navy would return. Whatever purpose Tsubaki had found in this hellhole, she had yet to fulfill it and it was clear that Navy would continue to accompany her down here even if his mind shattered in the process.
Could he really judge, though? Despite what they had gone through, it had only been an illusion, something to mess with their heads and make them panic. And, despite the warning, there were still more things to learn, especially about the Ultra Beasts that wandered the space. So, even though he considered both Tsubaki and Navy idiots for continuing to chase whatever they sought, he was just as big of an idiot for chasing his own desires.
With a flash of red, Colton released MM and returned Arti to its Pokeball. He latched onto the Iron Moth's back, patting its head and pointing to follow behind the other two. Its wings began to spin around rapidly, using them as a turbine to push them out of the gorge and back towards daylight.
