[attr="class","da-cerbpost"][break][break]It'd started with a rash of petty crime reports. Not so many that the department required immediate investigation and high priority...but enough to raise brows and put eyes on it. Shion Uehara, being a resident and deeply related individual to the yokocho, was assigned to check out what was happening. Over time the situation became something she'd swore she read in a mystery novel...maybe a psychological thriller.

[break][break]After a series of arrests, soft interrogations, and careful review of the data gathered from those interactions...it was discovered that none of the suspects obtained remembered *anything* about what they'd done. Eventually, with much struggle, a common thread was draw between each. A matter almost easily overlooked by each person turned into a major concern. The story was always the same. They were walking home, they became drowsy, and then they abruptly realized they were facing the opposite direction of their previous position.

[break][break]This concerning observation appeared in a scenario where the police had not released the details of the case's happenings to the public. Each suspect had similar qualities too. As hard as it was to believe, usually, each had a largely inoffensive record. For example, a mother of three, that had never so much as gotten a parking ticket. It was that particular incident that prompted Shion to start calling them victims. The department switched gears and started identifying where the 'Heel Turn Incidents' always seemed to start and end.

[break][break]That lead her into the heart of the Umi-Gura Yokocho...

[break][break]Shion was in plain clothes today. She sat at the bar counter of a popular izakaya with her phone, completely engrossed. What might be viewed as a young adult simply playing with her phone was actually a police officer watching live birds-eye footage of the parameter. She had carefully dotted the hot spots in the area incidents had occurred and had her rookidee, Eua, patrol and perch to watch the area with a tiny camera in her collar. Meanwhile her sobble, Autonoe, was holding surveillance from the comfort of the rafters above, blended in and invisible to the untrained eye.

[break][break]She'd been staked out here for about an hour. By making herself a regular here at the Izakaya she imagined she could either make herself a target or catch when someone else was about to be affected. That is to say...she'd decided personally she knew what was happening : the victims were being hypnotized. All she needed was proof and even the slightest hint of who might be behind these actions.

Either they'd put it to use themselves, snatch it away from their potential competition, or study how it ticks and replicate it in mass scale. All Pokemon existed For The Glory Of Rocket, after all.[break][break]

Isaac didn't give a hot gay fuck about any of that. But he'd take any excuse to handle another crook.[break][break]

How this was happening, nobody was quite sure. The leading theory was some sort of Pokemon, because even in a world of gods and monsters human ESP seemed to be beyond the pale. However, the size, scale, and specifics of the operation were a mystery. It was going to take some boots on the ground to actually figure out what was going on.[break][break]

Enter Isaac, who made up in creativity and stubbornness what he lacked in self-preservation.[break][break]

He wouldn't be completely alone, of course. That would be crazy. Wrapped up in his own wings as if they were a cape, Ricochet the Hawlucha kept her silent rooftop vigil. She would hop along the perimeter to keep an eye on Isaac and swoop in if he got in over his head. For a more close-to-the-action guardian, Ex Machina the Rotom remained safely tucked away in Isaac's phone. If they were lucky, an electric jolt could get Isaac out of any mess he wormed himself into. If they weren't, he could at least call for backup.[break][break]

But contingencies were just that; contingencies. For now, Isaac simply walked down the road where these disappearances originated. He had his hands in his pockets. He had silenced earbuds popped in. He walked and chewed bubblegum at the same time. If he was going to get abducted, then he'd need to look the part. What better way than to look as inattentive and spaced out as possible?[break][break]

Clearly, there was only one way that this could end.
