[break][break]As soon as they sat down a waitress practically glided over to meet them. Shion had to double take to acknowledge her presence and very briefly had to deflect the startled emotions that followed. Eua shrilly buzzed like an alarm in frightful anger. Her trainer very quickly moved to calm and pacify the little Rookidee before things could escalate. It must have been telling how much Shion was willing to mind her little bird. Even more so when Eua very swiftly relaxed upon the interaction.

[break][break]Shion's face burned awkwardly and she hid her face by tilting her head forward and hiding in her long hair. Her left hand raised to pet her Eua as she withdrew her nest of pale locks. Seemed comfort was going both ways here. Eventually she glanced at Mikael as if to check his reaction. Now on high alert and a bit self conscious, she felt the impuslive need to check her surroundings.

[break][break]Puck chimed and slipped off Shion's finger before zipping off to return to chasing after Eua. Keyring fae and small bird looped through the tree branches and broke into a bout of tag with a bit of Puck's pestering. It was enough to make Shion produce a small half smile. Especially when it devolved to the pair using Wander as a buffer between each other. The pair, as the path through the trees was retread, swopped around, under, and over the poor Rockruff. One trying to escape and the other attempting to give chase...yet their paths were wide and diverse enough for it to not immediately be obvious---because Eua was faster.

[break][break]The fae started chiming at Wander to join in while Eua's calls became rapid, sharp, and clearly irritated. Shion's struggle not to laugh made it clear this was normal behavior. The pair of gremlins couldn't stay serious. It didn't matter, though...they were still exercising, it's just the context had changed.

[break][break]She was fine with that.

[break][break]"Umi-Gura." Shion glanced at Genny thoughtfully," It's a long network of alleyways that stretch out into the sea. A yokocho, if you've ever been to one. It's a very traditional area so you won't see a lot of westernization there..."

[break][break]Very briefly the cadet thought about the culture shock she experienced returning from Kalos. Her family heritage and her Aunt Mao's presence in the community blunted the difficulty...Umi-Gura and the communities attached to it were every close knit, but also quite serious about outsiders and foreigners. There were times she wondered how her father did it. Unfortunately, she imagined she'd never know...Still it wasn't impenetrable. Once the community got used to you, you were basically everyone's child. It was the closest knit she'd ever seen of such a major city's population.

Afterward a crack of her chopsticks saw that a spool of sea flavored noodles would begin the pace of her hunger being sated. She took time answering the question, trying to find a decent way to answer it. One would think this were a simple enough inquiry...but there was nuance.

[break][break]Her golden brown eyes took on a contemplative half light. With such a neutral expression, it was hard to determine what she may be thinking in that brief moment of pause. Then her eyes turned to light on Yujin's. A careful appraising look that no longer had interest in the surface became visible. Her attention once lost on the beauty of Yujin's fan, now only concerned itself with the apparent nature she could read from the woman with strong observation skills.

[break][break]Shion couldn't help her notice of Genny's rockruff. Her use of stealth rock, agility, and grit was impressive. She could tell that it was starting to greatly spark Eua's competitive nature and bring out her best. It was encouraging to see. Her opinion on this groups capabilities of providing a solid training session continued to rise.

[break][break]When they brought the first lap to a close, she slowed into a stop and took her time recovering from the sprint. Although she managed not to burn unnecessary energy, she still needed to mind her hydration and that was better done still. Her pack slipped off her person and the hooked water bottle immediately came to the cadet's lips. It wasn't until the cool of water had reinvigorated her that she'd speak..

[break][break]"...I am. I was born in Lilycove." she replied.

[break][break]She wiped her lips with her arm and began pouring a bit of water into her palm for Eua to swoop down and drink. Puck levitated to one of her fingers as she stretched it outward so that he could rest on the crook of her finger like a dangling keychain. Autonoe was abit more energetic and was 'jogging' in motion. Though she kept an eye out on the other Pokémon to ensure their wellness. When they'd all hydrated and rested properly they joined Genny in prepping for the next round. Not so much appearing tired as being hyper aware of their need to mind body maintenance as cadets.

~ The Sea Pantry Alleyway ~

Owner: The Umi-Gura Ward Association, Caretaker Uehara, Mao.
Location: Lilycove
Description: Despite its name, it is a labyrinthine network of alleyways deep within downtown Lilycove. It lines and winds its way around the southwest portion of the resort city and even dips into indoor, underground establishments of storied history. You will find each side of its winding path cluttered with old pubs, food stalls, restaurants, and elusive shops where their keepers only sell to those they recognize. Its lights never dim in the night and its activity eternally persists night and day as shops cycle and switch between open and closed.

As such there is no shortage of things to do in the Yokocho, especially if you're a fan of drinking. Lilycove's finest sake shops can be found here and since the modernization of the craft many a drink has since been invented. The same can be said of the cuisine which is a cultural explosion of variety as expected of a port town. Yet if you're looking to buy goods there, beware. The shopkeepers are weary of newcomers due to the Yokocho's history of combating criminal syndicates and even pirate factions, back in the old days, who attempted to infest the closely knit community there.

It should be known...the yokocho is alive. Long lived and intricately woven as a tapestry of community, it's said that even in some places information is currency and no wrong-doing done on these streets goes unpunished. Often considered a bastion of safety for the lost...It's been known as an area of choice for various protection agencies in the Lilycove area to hide victims and other lost souls. A surprising development in the modern era.

The 'Heel Turn' Hypnotism Incident.

[attr="class","da-cerbpost"][break][break]It'd started with a rash of petty crime reports. Not so many that the department required immediate investigation and high priority...but enough to raise brows and put eyes on it. Shion Uehara, being a resident and deeply related individual to the yokocho, was assigned to check out what was happening. Over time the situation became something she'd swore she read in a mystery novel...maybe a psychological thriller.

[break][break]After a series of arrests, soft interrogations, and careful review of the data gathered from those interactions...it was discovered that none of the suspects obtained remembered *anything* about what they'd done. Eventually, with much struggle, a common thread was draw between each. A matter almost easily overlooked by each person turned into a major concern. The story was always the same. They were walking home, they became drowsy, and then they abruptly realized they were facing the opposite direction of their previous position.

[break][break]This concerning observation appeared in a scenario where the police had not released the details of the case's happenings to the public. Each suspect had similar qualities too. As hard as it was to believe, usually, each had a largely inoffensive record. For example, a mother of three, that had never so much as gotten a parking ticket. It was that particular incident that prompted Shion to start calling them victims. The department switched gears and started identifying where the 'Heel Turn Incidents' always seemed to start and end.

[break][break]That lead her into the heart of the Umi-Gura Yokocho...

[break][break]Shion was in plain clothes today. She sat at the bar counter of a popular izakaya with her phone, completely engrossed. What might be viewed as a young adult simply playing with her phone was actually a police officer watching live birds-eye footage of the parameter. She had carefully dotted the hot spots in the area incidents had occurred and had her rookidee, Eua, patrol and perch to watch the area with a tiny camera in her collar. Meanwhile her sobble, Autonoe, was holding surveillance from the comfort of the rafters above, blended in and invisible to the untrained eye.

[break][break]She'd been staked out here for about an hour. By making herself a regular here at the Izakaya she imagined she could either make herself a target or catch when someone else was about to be affected. That is to say...she'd decided personally she knew what was happening : the victims were being hypnotized. All she needed was proof and even the slightest hint of who might be behind these actions.

Who's Turn Is It?

Current Arc - Cadet Training : Shion is taking initiative to learn as much as she can about what it means to be an Police Officer in Hoenn. Along the way she seeks guidance for the sake of her own future and tries to make friends and contacts for the sake of personal growth and versatility. Although she struggles with communication, she does not let it deter her.[break]

A Not So Closed Room.

[break][break]" It's a coincidence, really...I was dispatched to shadow one of my seniors and assist in securing the area. I'd never worked a scene like this before so... "

[break][break]She imagined the scenario was as painfully obvious. Regardless of the intention, ultimately she was called here to 'build experience'. Although she had the tools necessary to handle evidence and manage the scene as directed, her clean appearance suggested that originally she was told to standby and just observe. Intuitively one could assume the only reason she approached is because she recognized the Detective.

[break][break]'I aspire to become a detective.', her post on AmiGo said. Although Shion seemed quite demure, it was clear she was intensely earnest in her own way. Shion Uehara would not simply stand idle and risk missing a shred of what she viewed as a true educational experience. Even if it was at the risk of being a little inconvenient. Still---she did have the presence of mind not to disturb the scene without permission or at minimum ensuring the detective knew exactly what she was intending to do before she'd attempt it.

[break][break]After all...he was right. She'd watched her seniors and assigned mentors prior to Sokolov's appearance do exactly as he described while trying to 'secure the area'. The value of their orders and foresight had plummeted for her and that was what ultimately caused her to set aside whatever 'conventional wisdom' they had in having her idly stand next to the car looking pretty.

[break][break]She obediently pulled back her hand in favor of letting the detective handle the wallet. Her position shifted back to her crouched sitting pose and she watched him examine the evidence. Although she questioned his reasoning in regard to her dirtying her hands, it was of so little importance to her that she let it fall to the wayside. She'd remember the kindness later when she had time to process it's meaning, to be sure...but he'd made an interesting point in the present : that wallet wasn't the victim's.

[break][break]At least...that's what Sokolov managed to inspire to Shion's intuition.

[break][break]It was easy to imagine a lone man wandering hypnotized through a cemetery at the witching hour. One might quickly jump to conclusions that this was the act of a ghost or psychic pokemon with this idea. That'd explain the scene itself rather neatly...but if the wallet was a red herring, wouldn't that rather roughly point out a less than ideal proposition?

[break][break]Uehara also lifted her head at the sound of 'Winters' bark. When she saw the Haunter and Mismagius she'd noticed something interesting almost immediately. The Mismagius was hidden inside of the decaying trunk of a newly dying tree nearby. She'd gotten the sense that both she and the Haunter had been watching the entire time and the Haunter had finally come to investigate too. Her trivial knowledge about Pokémon that had a tendency to haunt the area sparked a thought that built on top of her intuitive observation...

[break][break]She turned her head and nodded to Detective Sokolov. She imagined he noticed she lacked any real emotional response to noticing the pair of ghost pokemon. Due to her lack of any noticeable fear she would approach the pair and crouch down again to make herself look small. No desire to cause any harm to the pair...she'd speak calmly both to the Detective and to the Haunter present...

[break][break]"Looking for something to eat?" Shion questioned curiously, "Mt. Pyre is pretty popular for thrill seekers isn't it? It'll be even more so now that a murder has happened here."

[break][break]"But there's an issue...If people suspect the victim was hypnotized and brought to his death by a ghost Pokémon, the actual murderer will get away and with our misinformation we might disrupt the ecosystem here and make Mt. Pyre more dangerous."

[break][break]There would be a quiet moment between her and the Haunter. She imagined he could understand her...and maybe she could understand it. That was when the Mismagius approached also. The pair looked at each other, then at the officer cadet. Her right sleeve would be pulled and she'd be guided toward a gate that was carelessly left partially open. It was an old one, accessible only through a dilapidated and difficult to follow pathway not too far from the disturbed grave of the murder scene. Shion's eyes slowly narrowed and she knelt down to examine whether or not she could also find foot prints amongst the brush.

[break][break]"Detective..." Shion called out to briefly gain his attention," I don't mean to interrupt you out of turn, but..."
