How long had it been since he came out here to look for something?[break][break]

Maybe a little too long, because the taste of the incident with the shortie left a bad impression on him he wanted to avoid the place. But well, old habits died so hard, he knew he was kidding himself when he remembered that he was still a few draconids short of the dream.[break][break]

The second thing that comes ambling by into his sight is—well, he already has the pre-evolved form of this one, and sad to say, it’s not the one he’s looking for either.[break][break]

While Alexei doesn’t know how hardy Piloswine can be, what he does know is that they’re used to look for truffles—and this one seemed to be doing just that, sniffing the ground around it inquisitively before going off in another direction.[break][break]

“…is it that time already? But it’s still too early before they even start growing in,” he says to himself, wondering if the Piloswine’s going to be alright looking for a food source that technically didn’t exist yet due to it being the wrong season.[break][break]

“Well, good luck, wherever you end up,” he says, watching the Piloswine receding into the distance before turning his attention back to the rocky formation. He sighs, because he knows he doesn’t have that much longer to search…[break][break]

Come on… Gible? Gabite? Garchomp? Where are you?! He thinks desperately, looking around and making sure that he’s not going to fall into a wedge between two rocks.

The search today would come to an unceremonious end, with no scale nor shedding of a Gible-like dragon in sight. Alexei let out a sigh—why did some of the dragons have to be ridiculously hard to come by?![break][break]

He was about to turn around and head back when a sudden rumbling caught him off-guard and caused him to lose his balance.[break][break]

“Whoa!” he yelped, flailing out his arms and trying to regain his footing. “The hell was that?!” he exclaimed a few moments later, looking around wildly and trying to find the source of where the tremors had come from. While he didn’t see it right away, the same rumbling shook the area a few moments later, and he was sure that there was something following him.[break][break]

“Look, whatever it is, it’s not funny,” he called out to nobody in particular—before seeing something suddenly flop out of a mud hole not too far from where he’d originally positioned himself. “What… are you kidding me?”[break][break]

Of all the things… it had to be a mud fish.[break][break]

And it wasn’t even a Mudkip![break][break]

“Ugh, why,” he said with a sigh, watching as the Barboach flopped like a Magikarp, trying to get his attention and be noticed. “You’re not a Gible. Are you for real?” he continued, sighing as he crouched down and looked at the sad, sorry state he’d found it in.[break][break]

He was too busy trying to avoid all the churned mud it had kicked up to notice that one of his blank Pokéballs had rolled out of his pocket and had touched the tip of the Barboach’s tail.[break][break]

He let out a sudden cry of dismay as he saw that there was a Pokéball where the Barboach used to flop around in the mud, shaking once, twice…[break][break]

“What the hell? Why?!” he groaned.
