She smirks, swinging the pickaxe in a wide arc above her head. "Me, on the other hand? I'm more about the plunder."

Rock breaks, and something shiny peeks through the cracks. Greed alights in Skyler's face as she reaches forward.

He realized he was probably wasting his time when he saw the way the woman's face lit up before treasure. Dear lord, that wasn't something that could be stopped with a warning. '

Best to just try and make it quick, then...

"Faster, boys!" He ordered his mining bugs, smashing the pickaxes and drills into ore veins with greater fervor. The more they got done before it made itself known, the better.

He can feel his nerves frying as the radiation heightens them to impossible extremes— Just ignore it. Ignore it. It can't really hurt you... Not yet.

Doug's estimation of Skyler's greed is - unfortunately for both their sakes' - fairly accurate. His warning goes in one ear and crashes against the captain's legendary disregard for anything even slightly resembling safety precautions.

One day her willingness to bite off more than she could chew would be the death of her - not today, though.

Pinpricks of awareness trickle down the back of her neck, instincts honed from a lifetime of exploits slowly pressing against her admittedly questionable common sense. Skyler tenses, paranoia and fear setting in.

Skyler grits her teeth. Tries to breathe past it. In. Out. Again.

"This fucking place," she snarls, rolling her shoulders. She chases after the corners of the chamber, finds a shadow that shouldn't be there.

A sharp command has Dhelmise materializing from the wall, seaweed tendrils shooting out towards the movement - to find nothing - as Skyler fights to part treasure from this Arceus-damned place.

Fortunately for the duo, there was little reason to be thinking of past traumas when they were together— at least for Doug, he was generally on pretty good vibes amongst the Dross family.

Unfortunately, it meant that it instead gathered from whatever pokemon were present, aaand...

The room pulsed around them, the core throbbing as radiation spilled outwards enmasse, splashing a wet mass of steel nad limbs unto the ground below.

A giant, armored, hermit crab like creature began to rise, bearing a 'miniature' freighter upon its back and two whole ass anchors on each arm, the clinking of chains filling the room as it released a deafening roar— and swung, sending both of its anchor weapons towards each group.

"Aw shit!" Yelped Doug as he ducked under the mass of steel. "Guys— get on it!"

His Escavalier and Crustle both dropped their tools, launching forth to deal with big guy.

"What the-" Skyler dodges under an anchor-like claw, cursing profoundly as the wall behind her explodes with the impact, raining fleshy bits on everything in her vicinity, herself included. "What the fuck Doug, you didn't tell me there were - would you stop attacking me, you bastard!? - mutants here!"

Skyler does a good job dodging the onslaught of claws intent on squashing her into Skyler paste, muscles burning with exertion as she vaults and rolls away. A moment's respite allows her to grab one of her pokeballs at random and lug it at the ground between her the murder monster.

The Gyarados stretches the limits of the room's capacity, its serpenting body uncoiling as it snarls at the creature before it. If anything, it proves a good buffer between the abomination and Skyler herself, who earns herself a few precious seconds to gulp down some air.

It soon joins Dhelmise, Escavalier and Crustle in the fight, whipping up a Hurricane that has Skyler holding on for dear life - but at least removes the bigger clumps of flesh from her hair.

You must escape with your gathered material. Your ally or allies may be incapacitated by the paranoia settling in their psyches, or perhaps, the eldritch mutations beginning to metamorphose their body or bodies.[break][break]

Depending on how much your characters have mined, you may need to lessen your extracted load to ensure successful escape from this wretched place. After all, the horrors that reside here may make chase.
