well, well, well. Hello again, Isaac Merlo

"Oh." He uttered at the information, glancing back to the cyclizar now on the bed. "This won't take long, then."

Who would've thought— a pokemon already capable of self-regeneration took to healing like a fish to water.

Still—

"Did ya know?" He asked as he popped open a box, revealing a bunch of vials seemingly filled with glitter. "All Cyclizar's are capable of regeneration and skin shedding. But depending on a specific chromosome, they get the ability of either high-speed regeneration or instantaneous skin-shedding. Pretty cool, huh?"

Minor of moment of trivia over, he turned back to Isaac and Vespa, casually smacking his digit against the vial as he fit it inside the syringe whilst approaching.

"Thanks man." He said to Isaac once he got the book. "Open it up to... what was it again... Uh, it's somewhere 'tween 295 and 310. Just look for the one with a schematic of a Cyclizar's body."

The book was, as the name implied, a resource on the anatomy of the pokemon found in the Paldea Region. The details on were about as extensive as one would hope, given its purpose.

"Right, hold it open, just let me check..." Doug said as he looked over the schematics presented to him. Bones, muscle, organs, nervous system... "Ah, there it is."

Casually, he reached for a box inside his case— one filled with several disposable latex gloves. With practiced finesse, he suddenly used it to tie up a knot around the lump that was the cyclizar's tail, before stuffing his mouth with a small lantern.

Bending over the bed to look over the lump, he squinted briefly before reaching with a hand to daintly touch it, feeling around for something briefly before finally bringing the needle closer.

His hand briefly glowed a magenta against the lump just as he pushed in the needle— and just like that, Vespa perhaps did not even notice the insertion.

At least until the cool feeling of something being pumped directly into blood stream hit.

With that done, Doug casually undid the choking glove— at which point:

"Ta-dah."

What little glimpses Isaac got of the book as John flicked through it were fascinating. He couldn't understand much of the jargon on the page he'd landed on, but it was surreal seeing all those anatomy diagrams passing by. He had to restrain himself from asking John to flip on over back to the Garganacl page, because how the hell did that thing even function?[break][break]

No, no. If he let himself get distracted he'd miss the magic trick. With a twist and a turn, the Cyclizar's tail sprang right out of its nub. "Holy shit," IsAc said, wondering if he'd missed something for a second. "I know you said Vespa's built for it, but. Damn."[break][break]

Vespa shook his new tail, staring at it as if it was the first time he'd regrown it and not the dozenth. Sanford hoisted up the still writhing original, dropping it into the same bin as John's original finger. They'd dispose of it properly later.[break][break]

"Alright, I'm convinced. This point, you've shown me more than enough." Maybe a little too much. That finger. Eesh. "This month's not gonna be a hreat one for me, but in September? You've got yourself a brand new guinea pig."

well, well, well. Hello again, Isaac Merlo

"Huh." He uttered, glancing between the newly convinced young man and his now empty syringe. "Maybe I should just lead with this..."

Seemed more convincing —and less traumatic for all parties involved— to just get straight to business.

"... Oh good!" He said cheerfully, casually chucking the empty syringe into the bin besides his desk. "Welcome aboard, Mr. Merlo!"

He offered his hand to the slightly older man, ready to seal the deal.

"September, huh? Feels far, but time flies, don't it?" Before they knew it, summer would be over, and Isaac would be helping humanity by pushing the boundaries of medicine...

While strapped to a surgeon's table.

He could almost hear— nay, see it already.

Glorious.

"We'll work out the details when September arrives." And boy, there were a ton of details to work out. "For now... Let's celebrate!"
