MEWTWO ONLY NEEDS THE VICTIM’S DNA. everything else is extra. like a checkbox on a bucket list, once marked off, the GARCHOMP no longer has any value. it’s quickly spat out before the pokemon can do further damage, still reeling from its earlier injuries.

however, this attack isn’t reveal out of the pokemon’s desire to harvest the GARCHOMP’s dna. rather, it’s out of desperation, hoping to seize the element of surprise to regroup and find the power to escape.

for the moment the GARCHOMP is ejected, the MEWTWO flees, speeding back into the rift leading to GRANITE CAVE.
