Now that would be something. Sneaking under the surface of the sea would be a cunning strategy to pursuit a fast moving target. If a Rocket wanted to get the jump on Genny here, a little submarine subterfuge would be their best bet. Too bad there were not any Rockets around to stalk her, maybe someone could stop her from getting that information to HQ.

The only other Rocket nearby was Dwayne, who was frantically running with information of his own. He accidentally came upon what he swore was some sort of base of operations, a head quarters if you would, for the League. After taking several pictures with his phone camera, he knew he needed to get this intel to Rocket asap.

After a while he felt like he was home free, I mean he was not noticed right? There were no signs that he was being followed, was he seriously going to get away with this? The rush of possible successful espionage was short lived as Dwayne turned a corner and was forced to slide to an abrupt stop. There was another, a young girl standing not more than ten feet away upon the beach. She was wearing a ranger uniform.

Oh shit.

Maybe she did not notice him? No, that was a hopeless wish. Dwayne just came barreling with the subtly of a raging tauros, he was good and caught. That was okay though, maybe he could play it cool. He began walking forward, trying to act as casual as possible.

"Hey there, great day for a walk right?"

Mind you Dwayne was not wearing one of those awful Rocket Grunt costumes, but he was dressed in all black in the middle of a war zone. This was the definition of a stretch--but fuck it maybe she'll buy it.

--Dwayne got some pictures of League HQ and is running to try and get them to Rocket.

Unsurprisingly the ranger does not allow Dwayne to simply pass by unaccosted. He stops casually, trying to remain calm as the ranger demanded his name and affiliation. Dwayne tilted his head and raised his eyebrows, attempting to appear as confused as possible.

"Um--Dwayne Parker. I guess I'm affiliated with--Dewford? That's where I live anyway." Dwayne's cold eyes watched as bullets of sweat slowly rolled down the girl's face. Was she nervous? Or perhaps wearing that uniform was a lot less comfy then it looks. Either way, it helped Dwayne maintain an air of confidence. That shall be key to winning this battle of wits.

"Are you alright ma'am? You seem nervous, is something wrong?" Dwayne utilized the most sympathetic tone he could muster, hoping to slowly bring the ranger's guard down--at least low enough for him to escape.

The girl seems to want to trust Dwayne, which shall be enough for the sly criminal to work with for now. The girl's Fennekin companion waves at Dwayne, and Dwayne happily waves back. His carefree greeting almost causes him to miss out on what the girl said, but luckily he catches it at the last moment. The shock of her statement is genuine as he processes her words.

"I'm sorry did you say warzone?" Dwayne looked around, as if trying to identify an ongoing battle nearby. There were none to be found currently, but his expression would remain worried. "That is the first I'm hearing of it, I must be very lucky to not have encountered any fighting."

Dwayne tensed up, as if displaying a sudden awareness of how much danger he was in. "Well now I don't feel comfortable walking around alone. Do you think you could escort me back to town?"

Dwayne was a little surprised that he managed to pull this off. As she turned her back on him, Dwayne's heart would begin to race. He could probably take here out right now. One clean shot from his galarian slowbro, Gabba, and the ranger would be dead. Better yet, what if he could knock her out and get her back to base? Rocket would probably thrilled to have another prisoner to interrogate, and the boost to Dwayne's reputation would be invaluable.

Dwayne blinked, shaking his head as he pulled a pokeball off of his belt. He opened it to release the previously mentioned Gabba, but he would not be attack her today. That was not his style, and he was not gonna change that now. Dwayne yelled out to her, maintaining his civilian facade. "I don't have a water pokemon, but Gabba here can Surf like the best of them. Right pal?" Gabba looked to Dwayne, grinning widely at the sudden praise.

They would not depart just yet, it would look strange if they were too eager. "Hey are you going to be alright? It could be dangerous on your own."

Well, she did not have to tell Dwayne twice. Dwayne nodded, allowing himself one last display of gratitude. "Sounds fine by me. I have family in Petalburg. Thank you so much for your help, I'd probably be toast if not for you." He hopped onto Gabba and held onto his ears as the slowbro waded into the ocean.

He did not say anything further to ranger Genny, deciding it would be best to just shut up and head North for a while. He did not know how long he would sail, he had half a mind to just head straight to Petalburg. A silly notion, he still had work to do here. If he did not report in to Rocket, his goose would be more than cooked.

Gabba surfed for around fifteen minutes before Dwayne tapped his head. "Alright turn east, we gotta get back to camp."
