Funny how things turned out, didn’t they?

He remembered the first time that this happened; it was sometime before Callan had been promoted to Gym Leader of Lilycove and they’d talked over cup ramen and beer about life situations and things.

Today… well, this evening was going to be similar; only instead of being out in the wilderness, they were going to be much closer to home. His home, at least—Verdanturf Town.

There was a camping ground some distance away from the town proper where he’d set up the small tent along with an equally-small fire (he never really did like fire, could you blame him) and there was a cooler not too far away from the ‘fire pit’.

The cooler had beer in it, of course; in fact he was already through one can of ‘Honey Dou’ before contemplating filling up the kettle with water to boil and doing that anyway.

(No, much tempted as he was to run back home to get hot water, he figured that ‘roughing it’ would still have that same old charm.)

Now all he had to do was to wait for Callan to find him out here.
