reese's family originates from kalos; his grandparents on both sides still live there. when he was only 2 years old, he and his parents moved to floaroma town in sinnoh. this is where reese got his first taste in contest magic. with a group of friends, he resolved to work with them to become contest stars. over time, all of them made names for themselves, but for whatever reason, reese rose above the rest in popularity. even though he wasn't as strong as the others, he was adored by fans all over the world. this did not bode well for his friendships. one by one, they all turned on him, jealous of his success and the love he received. reese's relationships all fell through and turned toxic. they talked about him behind his back, they spread rumors about him, they did basically anything to ruin him. his personal details were put online, and soon he realized the impact was reaching him even in real life. people knew where he lived, where he worked, where his parents lived... it was too much. he ran away, ending up in hoenn. he doesn't have the courage to start over yet, and is just trying to get by, hoping that with time the rumors will stop and the attention will fade. [break][break]

reese is a kind person. they value friendship above almost anything, and are willing to sacrifice for others. in some way, they believe this is the only way to justify their existence. some part of them has internalized all the things people say about them; that they're an attention seeker, that they're fake, or annoying, or a bully... they walk on eggshells all the time now, desperate for people to accept them as they are. they never wanted to be a celebrity. they just wanted to have fun doing contests with their friends. for now, reese wears the mask of a people pleaser. they detest conflict and confrontation and avoid it as much as they can, but they hate upsetting people even worse. though they're friendly, they keep others at arms length, terrified of what will happen if they get too close to another person again.
