The small submersible craft crested above the waves, its dull, matte gray surface blending in with the dark blue water. White sea foam clustered on the surface like small, peeking heads of crystablooms. The tall, craggy rocks lining the shore of the island were unfortunately too widespread beneath the surface for the submarine to navigate through. Therefore, it was time for Xiura to disembark and advance on her own.

"Thank you," she said politely to the Rocket member who had opened the submarine hatch for her. Intel had communicated to them that there was a League supply tent near this location, and Xiura's team's task was to retrieve what she could for Rocket use, and destroy the rest.

The Rocket grunt saluted and said, "Good luck, agent." She smiled and saluted back.
[break][break]
She summoned her Milotic, the Pokemon's slippery coils writhing in the seawater. Xiura was wearing a wetsuit, all the better to move through the water and reduce drag. This would require stealth to avoid any possible intervention by the League.

She was a little tardy to the resurfaced treasures party. [break][break]

However, the star of the show was never late, everyone else was simply early. The first area she had been sent to foil rocket's plans was the waters near the island as she had a deeper connection with water types and the ocean than others. [break][break]

She dives in on her Lapras, hanging onto the pokemon's shell tightly as they end up spotting a potential rocket. She approaches as their comm devices connect. "Well then, I didn't think the league had stationed anyone else with me. Unless you're not with the league at all." she says as melody doesn't recognize her off the bat. She stays prepared, her lapras sensing her unease and preparing to throw up a last moment protect.

Xiura smiled, casting her gaze over Melody Miro, and said back over her comm device, "That's right. I'm here to help out." Melody looked strong, and her voice sounded rather familiar, which made Xiura tense in anticipation and worry. Unbidden, her mind flipped to a song she had heard back at the Winter Masquerade: "All I Want for Christmas Is You."

Xiura's mouth formed into an 'O' of recognition. "You're the singer and gym leader, Melody Miro! I love your singing! I can't believe we're stationed at the same location!"

Her Milotic edged closer to the shore, impatient to get away from this powerful trainer and begin their mission of subterfuge, but Xiura tightened her grip on the Pokemon, silently promising Milotic a rage candy bar after all this if she could keep her cool. Maybe there was a chance Xiura could convince Melody that she was on her side. The Rocket patted Milotic peacefully and rhythmically, her eyes roving Melody's expression for lingering suspicion. If this didn't work, Milotic would have to act quickly--and swim even more quickly.

"Elite 4" she says giving a little wink to the girl who was in front of her. She hadn't been a gym leader in quite some time and while she was trying to be friendly with the woman she'd rather forget about her failure as a gym leader of sootopolis. [break][break]

She ponders over someone else being posted here...she pulls up her phone and starts to scroll seemingly remaining calm and collected as she kind of idly scrolls on it as if she was looking at social media.[break][break]

Her lapras looks at the two with suspicions, she could sense the milotic's uneasiness but wasn't exactly sure why. "What's your ID number again? just to double check something." she asks

“Ah, my mistake,” Xiura apologized, smiling, her hand going up to tuck a piece of her hair behind her ear, only to remember it was underneath her swim cap. A member of the Elite Four? She should have paid more attention to media; how did this escape her notice? She was in even deeper trouble than she thought.

"What's your ID number again? Just to double check something."

Xiura froze ever so slightly, before saying, “My ID number? I can’t quite remember, and my ID is inside my wetsuit.” She patted her thigh as though to indicate an inner pocket.

“63305, I think, but the last digit might be off," she said bashfully.
[break][break]
It was a reach. Did she have enough digits or too many? For all she knew, the League didn’t have ID numbers at all and she was already found out. Xiura gripped the back of her Milotic’s neck tightly before Melody could run the number and made a decision. “Twister!” she commanded. A watery tornado whipped into existence with Milotic’s power, heading towards Melody and her Lapras.

The twister threatened to pull in melody and her lapras, yanking the phone protected by the water tight baggie out of melody's grip. "Oh COME ON THAT PHONE WAS NEW!" she shouted at her, she had her suspicions of the woman lying to her but Melody knew the chances of that were low. [break][break]

The Lapras prepares to counter attack "Freeze dry!" she orders as the temperature of the water drops, ice crystals forming sporadically in the water before suddenly the ice trail starts to rush towards the Milotic. "Just surrender! Don't make this more difficult than it has to be!" she pleads.

“Oh no,” Xiura muttered behind clasped hands over her mouth as she saw Melody’s phone fall into the water. Now she was really dead in the water if Melody caught her! Surrender wasn’t an option at this point; she needed to run or find her way to the mission point. She couldn’t face an Elite Four member head-on and win. Her mind raced through the options. Going out to sea would tire Milotic and give her more of a disadvantage with fewer routes for escape. Her only chance was the shore. Melody was between her and the island, however; Xiura's position in this battle was far from ideal. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean for that to happen!" She didn't think her apology would hold much weight, considering the situation.

Milotic cried out in pain as the ice trail whipped against its body, the frozen shards scraping its scaled hide. Xiura winced, saying, “Milotic, use Dragon Tail!” She needed to fight for now.

Milotic rushed aggressively towards the Lapras, trying to knock it over with her broad, heavy tail, then Milotic briefly dove under the surface, speeding off in a direction towards the rocks, putting more distance between herself and Melody.

The DRAGON TAIL causes them to spin out of control and Melody has to focus on getting her grip onto the Lapras. The Milotic then rushes away from them and Melody urges the pokemon forward. "We can't let them escape! Also, why are you apologizing for the phone? you're a rocket, I would've called back up." she calls confused. [break][break]

The lapras is forced to retreat into it's pokeball and switched out to one of her different pokemon. Her dondozo emerges and looks grumpy as all hell that his nap was interrupted. She grabs onto the white fins on the top of it's head and order it to go after her, it's larger size made it slower and have a harder time navigating the rocks but it responds in kind and unleashes attacks upon it by using ORDER UP as it uses it's fin to strike an elegaint poise, during the poise some of the rocks fall around them and cause debris to fly around. At this rate...melody was going to lose her.

“Even so!” Xiura’s first instinct had been to apologize, but she realized how silly it had been. “I suppose that makes sense,” she conceded after a couple of moments, still trying to get away. To Xiura’s dismay, although the quicker Lapras was sent away by the DRAGON TAIL, a gigantic Dondozo appeared in its place.

Xiura’s Milotic wove through the waters, trying to avoid the falling boulders from the craggy rock formations all around them. “Faster,” Xiura urged pleadingly. The shore was just in sight. If she could only get onto the beach…
[break][break]
But the Dondozo had done its duty; a giant rock fell onto one of Milotic’s coils. It cried out in pain, then started sinking, unable to keep up its swimming; its eyes closed in unconsciousness from the pain. Xiura fell into the water, recalling the Pokemon to its ball simultaneously. “Oh no,” she muttered, saltwater lapping into her mouth. Thinking quickly, she called forth her Poliwrath. The Dondozo and its trainer were quickly gaining on them; she'd be caught at this rate.

“Hydropump!” she called, and the Poliwrath let loose a gigantic blast of water, aiming to push the giant fish Pokemon back. It wasn't bound to do much damage, but if she could buy more time...

The hydropump pushes her dondozo backwards, colliding into a a nearby rock with enough force to also knock out her pokemon. "What the hell?!" she yells as her pokemon got one shot. Just who the fuck was this girl, was she one of the rocket's higher ups? only one of their more trained soldiers could do that...right? [break][break]

Melody recalls her dondozo and tries to send out her lapras again, giving xiura time to escape from Melody's range. "No! Get back here!"
