there are only so many chances to give certain pokemon the chance to be out in the light. mika's hydreigon, for one, had started off as rather bloodthirsty, and while it still retains a violent nature, it's gotten to the point where it can be around others without fear of attacking them out of nowhere. in a bid to curb the vicious habits of shadow annihilape, hydreigon acts as the reformed monster, while others on her current party like toxicroak or tentacruel act as controlled monsters, instead. [break][break]

if it weren't for her shiny dusk-lycanroc or ninetales beside her, mika would certainly appear as the type of trainer to raise only intimidating pokemon. and oddly enough, it had felt that way with some of her more recent acquisitions. [break][break]

speaking of which, that's what she's out here today for. catching some more pokemon. at some point, they will have reached their limit, but that point doesn't seem to be anytime soon. with ninetales dozing at her side and lycanroc scanning the environment for threats, mika feels relaxed enough to leave the other four to their own devices.[break][break]

it's not until hydreigon lets out a distant roar that she knows something's happened. [break][break]

they run towards their other pokemon, and see the happening in question. toxicroak and hydreigon hover near shadow annihilape, making sure the ghost doesn't lash out at anyone. that leaves tentacruel in the water nearby, its long tentacles reaching out for a small pokemon. [break][break]

a pichu? those pokemon aren't very common in the area, right? as the blue-haired ranger looks between the pichu, and her tentacruel, back to the pichu, back to her tentacruel, she understands at once what has happened. "i appreciate you looking out for pokemon, but that might not be ours for the taking." a pokemon that cute and that uncommon has to belong to someone, right? mika gently takes the pichu from her tentacruel's grasp, and looks around — an apology at the ready.
