THE BORDER IS A MOUNTAINOUS PURGATORY OF MUTED SEPIA SMOKE. By floating islands, translucent bridges soar through the realm toward the heavens. Tall stone spires jut out from the spiritual mist. In the sky, the wisps of spirits can be seen heading toward their final destination before the afterlife...[break][break]

Curiously, there are four broken seals embedded in four mountains. Though Adrian Malcolm and YVELTAL may have seen their location upon their unceremonious entry, the spirit realm has shifted since their last visit, rendering each broken seal far apart from each other.

almost immediately, they start to lose themselves in the mist, though unlike the INTERDREAM MIST that haunted them on the resurfaced island, this one has little to no effect on them beyond hindering their vision.[break][break]

When Marilyn heard the talks of rifts and the lands that existed behind them, she dismissed them as entirely fictitious, insolent dreams that the younger generations nagged on about with no reality tucked within their cracks. But here she was, traversing the thick smog of what was said to function as a middle ground for deceased spirits on their way to the afterlife. At least she wasn't alone with only the supernatural she brought with her, though, and at least it wasn't some cushy world of pastel puffs and cushions. It was much more fitting for a woman like her to have this one be her first otherworldly designation, humming in delight as the eerie figures of the dead drifted through the skies toward something.[break][break]

She felt moderately comfortable, as she was always fond of commanding spectral beasts of a spiritual nature. Not one to fear the dead, as those that conquered old age typically were open-minded, at least, in that regard.[break][break]

"I think it would be delightful to run into some of the spirits I'd know," she responded softly, her cane reverberating against the rocks beneath her, ".. perhaps Lucy, Bartholemew, Robert. Would be magnificent to see the look on their rotted faces, scumbound. This mist, though.. it reminds me of chalk, I'd prefer to get out of it so I can smoke my cigar."

A sullen look is all that Blue casts Theo as he looks back at them. She doesn’t want to be here, pulled back into business she’d rather avoid. She doesn’t want to be here, in a place where the mist around them clouds the way they should go. Dense and impenetrable and cloying. It makes the hair on her arms stand on end. Even her mightyena, normally calm and steady, seems on edge. Cagier the more aimless they grow in the fog.[break][break]

She doesn’t respond to him, mouth screwed stubbornly shut.[break][break]

The balefulness of her red-eyed stare turns on the old crone accompanying them. Though anything resentful in her expression fades in favor of looking at MARILYN HASEGAWA as if she’s grown two heads. “You’ve got some weird ideas of what’s delightful,” she grumbles as she hikes her bag higher on her shoulder. “Where are we even going?” One would think she has all of the attitude of a sulky teenager being dragged on a family vacation.

ironic that not all the spirits with him now are pleased with him. he remains painfully aware of blue murtagh's disposition and brattiness but refuses to comment on it, at least not in front of the elderly.[break][break]

too familiar with the dangers of the mist, even if this isn't the INTERDREAM, he remains guarded and alert which is how he hears the piercing shriek before the mist begins to part.[break][break]

Spirits and ghosts were indeed ones to lack prowess in being delightful, though Marilyn felt she had no choice but to be open to them with wide arms, as she felt like a ghost among the younger generations. "Having power against malicious spirits is something money can't buy, dears," she giggled and gargled, slowly advancing behind the two with her cane, ".. some that consider themselves ghost whisperers, like myself, feel as though power against spectral forces can only be brought by eliminating fear from one's mind! It's a curious spectacle, yes, yes, if you welcome them with kindness, most are believed to not bear ill will." It's how she tamed most of those that now resided in her violet orbs, that and allowing them to acquaint themselves with her beliefs and motives.[break][break]

However, she was indeed paranoid that the spirits of her victims would be displeased with her existence in this realm, being that she was the cause of their demise; this was a strange world, unlike the lands that kept her in shackles for all those decades. "Just a little walk, blue lass. Turn that frown upside down, it's a beautiful day!" She responded, though her rambles were cut short by the cries of the ghastly firebird. Blessed by the underboss's preparedness to take guard, she stood behind the virulent ultra-beast and looked at the Moltres in awe, taking small steps backward despite her curiosity. The granny was convinced the attitude of the girl had drawn it out, though there was no need to comment.[break][break]

A click of her pokeball released her Golurk, Ludwig, who was quick to launch one of its metallic fists forward to inflict a SHADOW PUNCH on the angered spirit. Overpowering the spirits unwilling to cooperate before they could inflict ill will was her specialty, at least when the occasion called for such hostility. Digging around in her dress pockets haphazardly, she could not find what she was looking for.[break][break]

"Did one of you manage to bring along a cleansing tag? One of the wards used against malevolence, it could help us against this twat. I can't believe I forgot the one I was going to bring back in Sootopolis, silly me!"

A baleful, red-eyed stare cuts back to Theo.[break][break]

“None of the spirits familiar with me would be pleasant, so I’m afraid I cannot relate.”[break][break]

The dour, derisive scoff crawls up her throat before she can catch it, grumbled words following– “Figures. Big fucking surprise there.” Dry and sarcastic and not at all deferential to his rank. If it’s rude or crass to curse in front of the elderly, Blue doesn’t quite care about that, either. GRUDGING resentment continues to fester under the surface, loosening the tongue behind a normally clamped tight jaw.[break][break]

The chipper interlude of the older woman only earns her another bizarre look from Blue. “I literally can’t see for shit out here. How exactly does that qualify as beautiful?” She definitely doesn’t smile for MARILYN HASEGAWA, but Blue isn’t exactly the most smiley of people, so it’s nothing personal. The closest the woman gets is the underling’s lips pressed in a thin line, the awkward lift of the corners of her mouth making her expression more of a pained grimace.[break][break]

She’s more concerned about ghosts that exist in her day to day, dogging her like dark shadows than the actual supernatural. Like Theo does now, in forcing her to follow. But that doesn’t mean she isn’t at all superstitious. Growing up in Johto has left her with a decently healthy dose of a wariness of what can’t be seen as much as what is directly in front of her.[break][break]

Though the moltres that manifests itself is pretty much right there. Talk about a two-for-one special.[break][break]

Her mightyena, lurking in the mist behind them, springs forward and Blue activates the tera orb that had been in her pocket so that Bonnie is encased with the crystallization of poison tera-typing. As she lunges forward with POISON FANGS to snap at the vestigial bird, Blue’s head snaps toward Marilyn.[break][break]

“Hang on.” She swings her bag around, and shoves her hand in the front pouch until her fingers close around the slip. She holds it out for the woman to take. “I just…can’t find my lighter.” Because you burn it, right? Was that right? Maybe she isn’t as superstitious as she thinks, even if she’s been carrying the talisman around for who knows how long.

out of the four ruinous emotions present in the border, it should come as no surprise that HATRED is the one he is drawn to the most followed by GRUDGE, his experiences with jayden cross and Elisabeth Fiorelli may have played a part in that.[break][break]

because they can only fend off the MOLTRES for so long as it comes pouring down with a FLAMETHROWER, casting bright orange and red in a colorful attack that his nihilego is forced to tank.[break][break]

The bickering and bitterness were distasteful in Marilyn's already rolling eyes, emotions of hatred being exemplified by the strange quirks of the world taking root in her soul. She wished that the younger generations could prove her wrong, but the blue-haired girl's standoffish attitude was above all else pissing her off; why couldn't all of the members of team rocket be like Elisabeth Fiorelli, knowing when and how to show respect to their elders with their presence alone? Theo seemed, well, much better at dissuading her feelings of hatred toward the young with his presence, but Blue brought her to wish to spit.[break][break]

"Finally useful for something, frowny lass," she said, quickly snatching the talisman from her hands, ".. this world is beautiful because it's quite untouched by the grimy little hands all of you young fucks call your own. So many like you should not be allowed to inherit." Normally she would have simply bit her tongue and refrained from lashing out, as it was quite unclassy, but the energies brought on by such circumstances brought all of her deep hatred out. Loud and proud, almost forgetting that there was a big spooky-dookie bird of flames trying to make them their dinner.[break][break]

Taking her lighter out from her purse, Marilyn looked back up toward the bird with the cleanse tag in hand, igniting it. "Go back to wherever you once hid, you filthy mongrel!" She exclaimed, holding the burning tag outward in the direction of the Moltres as its paper fluttered toward it in the form of ash.

“Shut up!” she barks back at THEO BECKETT, teeth bright in the snarl on her face. “This is all your fault!” She shouldn’t even be here. She should be at home. Safe, away from Rocket affairs. And she’s not. She’s still in the thick of it, battered down by the weight of anger and grudging feelings that slip like a heavier fog over her already susceptible mind.[break][break]

Her mightyena snaps her teeth again, a concentrated and poisonous TERA BLAST of shimmering, violet light aims itself at the moltres.[break][break]

Any residual temper Blue feels isn’t meant to be directed at the older woman in their company. All of her anger and hurt is meant for the underboss. Still, the lash of it slips out as she fixes a glare at MARILYN HASEGAWA as she’s promptly scolded. “I didn’t ask for or expect shit,” she hisses as she thrusts the cleansing tag out again, “so don’t patronize me.” Somehow she manages to bite off the you old hag bit that wants to roll off her tongue as well.[break][break]

Bonnie yelps as the pour of flame licks at her crystallized pelt, but the buffer helps to keep her from being burned. Useless, Blue can only watch as the remnants of the tag lift up on the billows of acrid wind and drift toward the raging bird.

Marilyn spat at the ground in response to the bluenette's wish not to be patronized, unwilling to spark further controversies or scuffs to preserve her energy. Though she was one to detest the younger generations effervescently, she was well aware of how they felt their emotions took the upper hand in situations like these; going in circles would be unsightly, unclassy, no matter how much hatred for them was sewn within her aged heart.[break][break]

Ash flew until there was silence, working to wade the Moltres and the voices of league victims aside. It was satisfying to see it work, leaving nothing but char embedded underneath her fingernails. As she giggled, she removed her authentic cigar and sparked it, savoring the flavors as she puffed on it between ancient gargles. Clacks of her cane and the dissipation of the spirits brought them to what she perceived to be the edge of the mist, a place where they could finally see the expanse of mountains and the spirits floating toward them through the skies.[break][break]

While she was expecting to run into her victims, there was enough time passed since their timely demises to assume that they had already made it to another plane. "Enlighten me of the fire breather," she said to both of them, tossing a set of cookies that she had previously stored within her purse at the two, ".. and eat your cookies. They are sweet, unlike your malding, lass." She was not above refusing sweets for the younger generations, as most of them needed to plump up. Maybe their thin physique brought such anger and resentment upon their minds.

Blue doesn’t care one bit about the influence of the realm around them. As far as she’s concerned, the anger and resentment she feels is all hers. No matter the excuses Theo makes on her behalf. She doesn’t need them.[break][break]

Her attention remains on her Pokémon, and the old woman as she lights the cleansing tag. What Theo does in the background does not concern her, though at one time it might have. Bonnie rumbles out a threatening growl, not relaxing from her stance until the moltres fades to wisps of flame and mist. Forced from the area by the power of the charm.[break][break]

And then there was only the sound of her own breathing in her ears, and the curl of the returning shroud of fog.[break][break]

She has no ghosts to haunt her here, unlike her other two reluctant companions. No, her real ghost is the man right in front of her—the one who refuses to just let her go.[break][break]

“Well I’unno jack shit about that,” Blue shrugs, defaulting to Theo about the interference of the moltres. Instinct and good reflexes have her catching the packet of cookies before they can smack her in the face. “Never once claimed I was sweet,” she grumbles, but even then, she cracks open the sweets and sulkily chews on the cookie.[break][break]

“Don’t really want to stick around and see if it comes back,” she adds as an afterthought, mouth still half full. She drags an arm across her mouth to rid it of crumbs and her feet scuff in the dirt as her mightyena skulks back to her side for a scratch behind the ear.
