Death to the old man was a concept to be refuted. Of course it was, it was absolutely unsurprising to hear that he had likely amassed even more power than he already retained amidst their shared youth- the very quality that once drew her in, once provoking love as it did lust. The love that she still retained for the man after all these years would be something he would inevitably use against her if she were to pursue the spilling of his blood, as were the erratic emotions that led her to wish to plunge the knife inside. Yumi was right, she had far too much catching up to do to resign her newfound freedom so early.[break][break]

Yet, the words that followed the discouragement brought a tear to her eye, answered by a shaky blotting of a handkerchief. "Oh, my dear granddaughter. You are most certainly right," she moved to advance in search of a loving embrace, dropping her support in the process, ".. my damn cane. Chamo.. pick it up, chop-chop."[break][break]

The ghost of tea levitated forward to bring the handle back into the tears of her ancient palms.[break][break]

"I worried the world would be too far changed when I'd come crawling back into it.. that none of you would ever dream of speaking to an old crone like myself," she said as another salty droplet manifested, ".. how right I was in some things, and how wrong I was in others.. if I cry too hard I may croak, my old heart is filled with so much joy in hearing that, my dear."[break][break]

Delights allowed her to shelve the wish to meet, or better yet save her sons- perhaps they were too far gone, too far involved in the affairs of her ex-husband. They never did come crawling in to meet her after the shackles had been placed on her once smooth skin. She never got to be the mother she wished to be. But now, now was the time to be the grandmother and live that life she always dreamed of having return- to the good ones, even if they did not share her exquisite blood and genes.[break][break]

"I'm no stranger to sticking it to the man, Hitoshi-kun! You'll see me out there," she chuckled, smoke billowing from her nostrils, ".. makes me want to take you both shopping for guns and knives.. and all that other fun stuff. I need more gunpowder for this shotgun, dear."[break][break]

It was only an assumption to think that her two grandchildren, one bound by blood and one simply by earned respect, would enjoy the same things that she did- they were both involved in Team Rocket, after all.[break][break]

"So Team Rocket has given you both what you've longed for, then? Taking care of you in every which way?" she asked, ".. that makes me love em' even more if so."[break][break]

In her absence, they better have.

"I couldn't have said it better myself!" She responded enthusiastically. Youth was, truly, wasted amongst fools- the chairman of the prison, the guards that were considered his 'immortal' underlings, all those that thought it was in their best interest to try and short-hand their beloved granny. Such was an inevitable process of life, assuming that they all would make it that far. But Marilyn would go to any length possible to feel her mind and soul float out of her elderly body and into the shell of someone as beautiful as she once was.[break][break]

All to live on with those who had not wasted their youth- the ones that she had loved above all, the ones she considered her honorary children and grandchildren. And of course, those bound to her by blood that did not continue to stray.[break][break]

"Oh, dear Kazu, it's okay! Your little beary-boo is just so cute, even with its taunts." That was not a lie- it was just so precious, so vibrant with all of its colors and grins it possessed in its excitement. Had it been someone she had grown to dislike, her feelings would be different. But it was an innocent or perhaps not-so-innocent creature.[break][break]

Holding onto her newfound grandchild's arm with delight, and all the more exhaustion, she soon collapsed beside him. It wasn't the most painful feeling in the world, as it would have been outside of the simulation.. but it felt defeating, to say the least. The last time she tried to crawl up some stairs it didn't end well, so as she watched his crawling, all she did was sit and look up to hear or see anything this rather redundant-feeling reality had to offer. She plucked up a piece of the trail mix and ate it like popcorn at a movie theater, too.[break][break]

What was the central circle? Was it.. a metaphor for something? Her companion seemed to be exhibiting distaste, or rather upset, at the sound- but it was all so confusing.[break][break]

"My central circle is my family," she said raspily, spitting empathetic phlegm as she deduced it to be an insult as per Kazu's reaction, ".. you aren't my family, dear voice. Just a silly little thing that thinks it's hot shit because it made it up the stairs nobody else could."[break][break]

And then it all went fuzzy. Being that she was desperately attempting to keep a mental notebook of what she had seen, she figured it would be wise to find Kazu and transfer it onto paper. Surely he would remember more than she ever could. Taking off the headset and placing it on a nearby table with the help of those who conducted such experiments, and taking her midday pills, she giggled with delight.[break][break]

"That was so delightful," she said, ".. odd, but delightful!"

Marilyn could not help but wonder what it would have been like had she died while serving her sentence; would it have been that another underling would have felt the power that came from the light stone upon catching it, or would it have fallen into the hands of those who licked boots? There were, of course, intrusive thoughts that led her to wish to sneak in and take the stone for herself.. but all the young ones could run faster than she ever could, and surely that would lead to ending up in a ditch somewhere.[break][break]

It was just so curious how it felt, feeling power tenfold in her hands that had previously been deprived in her far-away youth. Being that she was a people-pleaser when it came to those she grew fond of, especially when it came to the organization's hierarchy, she knew it was best to repress those feelings. All for the glory of Team Rocket, yadda-yadda, she knew that if she stole it, it would only be a matter of time until her certain death. If not for murder, for old age.[break][break]

She wanted to see all the good youth be happy instead, which hopefully would last a whole lot longer than her well-medicated heart. Visits with the stone of draconic truths and learning more about it were all she truly needed at the end of the day- they wouldn't hurt, they would, if anything, give even more eyes to know that it was being well-kept.[break][break]

"Theo, Theo, Theo..! Good evening, my dear," she said raspily amidst her approach, ".. I've been walking around these waters every day, and I still find myself almost falling in each time.. all of you are so lucky to have muscly legs."[break][break]

The repressed part of her wanted to hop up and down in tears and beg him to show 'what was left' of Kyurem once more. In looking her youth in the eyes came a wish to fall back into it, but those possibilities were shed far too long ago. It would be unwise.[break][break]

"Is my sweet Elisabeth coming, too? She always gives such good, loving, new perspectives.. I was just like her when I was young, you would have fallen in love with me with a single sight! All the men did, dear.. I was unbelievably beautiful."

The door to the back room appears to be painted a bright red and cracked ever so slightly open. Coincidentally enough, a cooing baby can slightly be heard from within. But in all of your looking around, she seems focused on that officer belt of yours.

It is a late night in the Summer of 1973- you find yourself having wandered into an inconspicuous Tea House in Goldenrod City, Johto. Being one of the city's Sherriffs, it is your responsibility to investigate tip-offs from various sources. Unfortunately for you, your night has been extended due to a complaint of screaming and thudding from inside.[break][break]

Upon opening the door, you are greeted by a gasp of a young woman- one that you do not know nor have ever seen before, even after being employed in the city for nearly two decades. She appears to be experiencing stress from behind a counter that looks to be for dishwashing- though her rapid scrubbing of utensils and cups comes to a complete halt at your arrival.[break][break]

"What are you doing here? We closed up three hours ago!"[break][break]

The Tea House looks extremely clean, but it looks like she's seen a ghost.

The steam of the tea cascaded as she shakily filled the cups, raising one to her lips with a smile and nod- and an inevitable, aged cough of letting it trickle down. Her eyes wandered curiously to the unraveling of the gifts brought from the bakery as she consumed both the drink and its aroma, closing into mere slits in great appreciation of just how graceful it appeared in stature. Things like these, luxuries, were quite the opposite of the things she had been given during her stay at the doomed facility.[break][break]

At least, other than the things her prison pup had smuggled in for her benefit. "Oh, she's one of the good ones, dear," she said raspily, placing her cup back down on the table. It was always just so tempting to ramble on and on, and that she would have- if Yumi had not brought up the other that happened to retain some of her blood that was once wished to have been cast away for good. A hopeful smile manifested within her wrinkles at the topic, holding a hand out to catch the wandering Frillish to bring it into her lap.[break][break]

"Thank you, thank you, Yumi. I was starting to get worried that he's been.. wanting not to meet me," she said as she nipped her fingers over to the other side of the table, wanting to grab at the sweets- but also not wanting to appear bashful. The last time she tried to dig into a fancy thing like this, it ended up toppling all over the floor due to her rusty reach.[break][break]

"It's felt so long since I've been out of the cells, I would have imagined him to have come around by now," she paused, raising an eyebrow, ".. where is he now? What has he been up to? Oh, I'm so nosy, dear."[break][break]

A glance to the door, hopeful that what she imagined to be her grandson would appear with open arms was her fantasy.. but nothing, just a bird that had made its way in and desperately needed to make its way out. Was it that he did not wish to acquaint? Or was he off being a good young one, pursuing an education?

The place that the simulation had brought them, a place so far from the ground that it brought upon a void in the absence of soil, was quite a questionable sight to her elderly mind. At first, it led her to believe that the grim song had made it into both of their ears and made a lasting impact on their bodies and souls- from the stories she heard as a young girl to the prison cells, this certainly seemed to be the sight of death. The divine staircase to heaven, some said- but they were in a simulation, that was for certain, even if she did not understand technology like the younger ones.[break][break]

Peering through the transparent steps, she was lucky to not fall and bust a simulated hip; it was strange to see, so strange that it nearly caused her body to topple over the side. Luckily, however, Kazu had been there at her side. "Oh, thank you, baby," she said with a bewildered chuckle, ".. the last time I was up so high.. I at least had my dear Ludwig there to carry me on his chest!" But, then again, she could not tell how high up they were in this reality.[break][break]

Resting with the angels, perhaps- none of which she had killed while they were mortals. They were no angels. Holding onto her much younger counterpart's arm as she used her cane to give further assistance in the slow traversal her body felt as though it demanded, as she had not done activities like this on foot in decades, she looked about- but her vision snapped to the pink bear that seemed to be rushing them. It was quite cute, it reminded her of youth.[break][break]

"Try doing that with a bad back and knees, heh." She chuckled in response to the Bewear's mannerisms, heaving with each step of the way. Regardless of the fact that if she wanted to, she could fully sprint in this limitless dreamscape of advanced pixels. It was just so easy to slip back into the things she was used to- like Stockholm Syndrome of the human shell.

Something was empowering in telling the worker underlings to get back to doing the dishes after catching them on their cell phones. Just as it was empowering to sit on the edge of a tatami mat in a tea house she very well considered her own, knowing how much veneration she had attained simply by being in the right place at the right time- all for allowing a pulsating stone of light to fall into her hands. Power was one of many things that had been deprived amidst her youth.[break][break]

But it was all starting to come together, or better yet, back. Wrinkled eyes peered upward at the door as the opening triggered the sequence of melodic chimes, and a bright, cracked smile manifested below her cheeks at the approach of her beloved visitor. "Good afternoon to you, my dear grandbaby Yumi," she said raspily, placing her cigar upon the table's metal rest, ".. oh, no need to be so formal, dear.. as long as you don't smack me across the face, heh! Come sit with me."[break][break]

Holding a hand out in welcome, Marilyn would place a sloppy kiss upon her knuckles if she were to accept.[break][break]

"Oh, it's been so wonderful here in Sootopolis, Yumi," she nodded in response, holding up an extremely shaky palm to notify the staff of their need for drinks, ".. Elisabeth Fiorelli has been oh so kind to me, she invested in all of this..! And if you love this, you would have loved the family's tea house in Johto."[break][break]

Perhaps later, or maybe in a secluded spot, she would tell Yumi that Elisabeth had not been the sole investor. MATIAS SILPH was quite easy to extort, after all. The tea was served rather quickly by a young woman- dark oolong in a clay gaiwan with three matching cups, one for the Seviper, too.[break][break]
