If those of their kind were not meant to step foot in this alien world’s soil, why did the bamboo forests remind her so much of the world she had left behind? The bearing of the swords, the bamboo they once cut- it was to no surprise that Hitoshi took a liking to this place, whether through order or fondness. If there was anyone not bearing the blood qualified to wield a Hasegawa Muramasa, it was the puppy.[break][break]

And his undying support of the family was deserving of support in his led conquest, a sword for a sword. Though she was quite old and frail, her age did not stop the light stone from falling into her hands. The Trevenant hoped its attempted PHANTOM FORCE would make it a little easier to avoid the steel origami onslaught. Despite how magnificent it felt creeping across the lands with its legs moving synonymous to an Ariados, cradling its master within its wooden palm.

Ludwig had participated in rebuild efforts once before, though never under pretense like this. When he was a young Golett, he was ordered by Marilyn's father to assist in city expansion- back when Hoenn had more of an antique feel. But seeing the city having been shattered, he could not help but sulk in the shadow of his engine.[break][break]

The engine pulsated with each step he took, interwoven with orders from his current master that could not be refuted. It was natural that he wanted to assist in the reconstruction of the now ruined. But the underlying pretense brought a feeling inside his workings that felt.. new.[break][break]

But orders held heavier weight than feelings left estranged in spectral engines. Nearing other workers holding heavy beams together, a HEAT CRASH of a large fist welded them into one. And again, and again.[break][break]

With each strike, all he heard was the laughter of the grandmother in place of the shinking of the steel. And through fulfilling his orders, his engine burned greater each time.

It wasn’t like Marilyn had the worst memory compared to most; after all, just as many had issues with remembrance as they did listen to her effervescent stories. She could remember the reason for going out today (chain smoking), the names of her beautiful twin Spectrier that floated beside her and listened to her every word (Agatha and Martha)..[break][break]

But she couldn’t remember that the shadow Claydol she already had attempted to gun down thrice was given to her as a gift of power. A shadow of her own that, while adjusting to its newfound prowess with hostility angled in all directions, was designated to be a powerful ally.[break][break]

An unfamiliar voice bore by a recognizable man led her to cock her head briefly in his direction, dilating her pupils, but leaving the respite away from her gaze.[break][break]

”Not just pointing at it, dear Mad Dog, but shooting at it,” she squealed from behind one of the spectral horses, firing another round, ”.. it is an unruly creature, trying to kill me! My vestigial followers are classy and graceful, dear- if it were mine, it would know better!”[break][break]

The shadow pokemon was just as capable of dodging shotgun bullets as it was wielding its ethereal spite. While the Spectrier kept it busy by circling the elder and doling out DOUBLE KICKS, the creature’s dark-violet eyes sought retribution of the shotgunner.[break][break]

”Mad Dog, Mad Dog, Mad Dog,” she chimed, ”.. help me kill this nasty fucker, dear. I am far too great of a Rocket asset to perish to this no-good clay doll!”[break][break]

It seethed and shot PSYBEAMS channeled through its wispy palms.[break][break]

”.. And why the hell does it look like that? You're quite the experienced man, I'm sure you know.”

The thought of stopping by on her weekly outings was almost as pleasant as the schematics on the papers- designs that not even she could accomplish herself, at least, now.[break][break]

“A little rust is fine if you’ve kept up with your tetanus shots, dear,” she cackled, shooting a wink in delight, “.. if you’re ever in need of help, just ask.. and I’m more than willing to keep the rowdies in line.”[break][break]

Crunching another sweet in between her lips, she gushed at the thoughts of what to share- nostalgic options that, if she had not been locked away, surely would have been lost with the passage of time.[break][break]

“Oh dear, I could keep you here all day.. until your ears fall off your pretty little head,” she smiled, “.. when I was young, I looked just like you- but had far less experience in such organised business. It sounds so silly now, but..”[break][break]

She could not help but cackle some more.[break][break]

“There were these travelling carts, selling wines and liquors of all kinds- and I was a bit of a kleptomaniac, dear. Do you know how expensive foreign alcohols can be sold to naive, upper class businessmen?”[break][break]

Reaching to hold Yumi’s hand as she spoke slowly and raspily, her cold hands were quite different than the warmth in her demeanour.[break][break]

“Some days, my friends and I would skip lessons to hunt these men down, chasing after them with bottles and bottles and bottles we stole. Oh my, one day, we ran straight from Slateport to Fortree with nothing but a Skitty and a dream! There were far less trees then, but..”[break][break]

And so she rambled on. A chase turned into a hefty doling of coin- and scenic locations that were now buried by forest overgrowth. Fabrications? Maybe. But then, she was free- unbound by deterioration of the body.[break][break]

Accompanied by her Chandelure in her garden of secrets, or rather, a various assortment of growing tea leaf bushes, there seemed to be.. an unexpected visitor. Unwanted was a word that popped into Marilyn’s head first, but that was not fitting for what prepared to dole out havoc- as it was a ghost.[break][break]

“How peculiar, Adeline,” she said with an aged giggle, drowned out by the wavering of phlegm, “.. do you remember those fifty years ago? When we met in the old garden in Johto.. when I tempted you with power unimaginable..?[break][break]

Back then, she could walk like a normal young adult- she was a young adult. And the pokemon that floated beside her, which now retained foggy, outdated glass, was nothing more than a little Litwick.[break][break]

“You had to wait decades in storage, but here we are. Help me do to this one what I did to you.”[break][break]

Advancing forward, she greeted the ghost dragon firstly with the snapping of her wrinkled fingers. The Chandelure rushed forward, snapping the side of the Drakloak with a relentless SHADOW BALL. In its youth, the pokemon that had stood beside her was none other than Marilyn’s beauty of a Golurk. It wished to be as strong as the steamwork automaton. It would be through holding down the other spirit, guiding the wild pokemon’s head with flame to meet the elder’s gaze.[break][break]

“I could kill you for trying to steal my foliage, my boons,” she sighed, putting her weight on her cane, “.. but I can be as useful to you as you can to me.. join my side, and there will be not a bound for you to be unable to cross. Anything and everything you desire, you can attain with the rest of my spectral flock. All it will cost is loyalty, willingness to carry out any command I give.”[break][break]

She smiled with a sinister grin- though it was difficult to tell with some spirits, she believed the offer was tempting to it. The Drakloak did not have a baneful nature- rather, it wished to protect its young. It saw the grandmother as it saw itself. A caretaker for spirits as it was a caretaker for the Dreepy in its chamber. A testament of time.[break][break]

Rolling a pokeball across the floor toward it, the Chandelure freed it from its grasp.[break][break]

“Join me- there is not a better woman suited for such companionship alive in this world.”[break][break]

Nor a better woman to subjugate it to her will.

A battle between Frillish and Krabby was easily won for the prize- the shell pokemon now rested on the bottom of the sea floor as an empty husk, and in the ruthless tentacle creature's ribbons was nothing more than a sparkly yet petrified Clamperl. It enjoyed rolling around the soft body in the shell as it brought it to its master, plopping it into her curious palms as it resurfaced beside her.[break][break]

"My Grandmother used to tell me that finding these meant good luck," she smiled, placing it on a nearby towel she had claimed as her own, ".. we'll sell it and get you some treats once the tide goes in, Atticus. Now, dear, go and fetch Granny some more treasures."[break][break]

Delving into the depths once more, using its ribbon-like tendrils to propel it as fast as its little body could muster, it moved its search to a nearby reef. Inside there seemed to be fish, of course, but it was not here to make friends. It was here to make the inseparable duo rich. Catching a refracted light, it swam over to investigate- and perhaps pluck, if it wasn't too far wedged in.

A sigh and labored breathing marked her second attempt at trying to do the seemingly impossible Magikarp Splash. This time, she fell into the water rather than back upon the creature's back- and the crack of the surface would have hurt, had it not been for the amount of substances in her body and the life jacket tightly fastened upon her tourso.[break][break]

"Damn, Muchacho," she continued to breathe heavily, pulling herself back upon the Mantine once more, ".. you've gotta warm up, don't you? Fuck.. this is so tiring."[break][break]

A big wave awaited them once more. Holding onto the saddle's reins and flicking them recklessly until they approached it, a curt smile manifested on her pale, wrinkled cheeks of old.[break][break]

"But we aren't weaklings, we don't give up," she exclaimed, ".. you need to warm up? TOO BAD! MAAAAAGIKAAARP SPLAAAAAASSHHHHH!!!"

The Frillish resurfaced after some time, reaching where the sand kissed the waters to give its first offering to its ancient master. Unfurling its frills, inside was.. a Salac berry? Marilyn cocked her eyebrow at the sight, using her cane to slowly lower and pluck it from the waters.[break][break]

"Didn't know these things grow in the ocean, too," she said to the frillish, ".. my oh my, what has the world come to? Come on, carry on now."[break][break]

Flicking her palm once more, the Frillish ventured deeper out this time. With its bright eyes peering into the depths deep below, it noticed something else shimmering in the subtle rays cascading through the water. Though, it was not alone- a Krabby seemed to have its eyes set on it, too. It was a race to the treasure, and it would not give up easily.
