It is a late night in the Summer of 1973- you find yourself having wandered into an inconspicuous Tea House in Goldenrod City, Johto. Being one of the city's Sherriffs, it is your responsibility to investigate tip-offs from various sources. Unfortunately for you, your night has been extended due to a complaint of screaming and thudding from inside.[break][break]

Upon opening the door, you are greeted by a gasp of a young woman- one that you do not know nor have ever seen before, even after being employed in the city for nearly two decades. She appears to be experiencing stress from behind a counter that looks to be for dishwashing- though her rapid scrubbing of utensils and cups comes to a complete halt at your arrival.[break][break]

"What are you doing here? We closed up three hours ago!"[break][break]

The Tea House looks extremely clean, but it looks like she's seen a ghost.

The steam of the tea cascaded as she shakily filled the cups, raising one to her lips with a smile and nod- and an inevitable, aged cough of letting it trickle down. Her eyes wandered curiously to the unraveling of the gifts brought from the bakery as she consumed both the drink and its aroma, closing into mere slits in great appreciation of just how graceful it appeared in stature. Things like these, luxuries, were quite the opposite of the things she had been given during her stay at the doomed facility.[break][break]

At least, other than the things her prison pup had smuggled in for her benefit. "Oh, she's one of the good ones, dear," she said raspily, placing her cup back down on the table. It was always just so tempting to ramble on and on, and that she would have- if Yumi had not brought up the other that happened to retain some of her blood that was once wished to have been cast away for good. A hopeful smile manifested within her wrinkles at the topic, holding a hand out to catch the wandering Frillish to bring it into her lap.[break][break]

"Thank you, thank you, Yumi. I was starting to get worried that he's been.. wanting not to meet me," she said as she nipped her fingers over to the other side of the table, wanting to grab at the sweets- but also not wanting to appear bashful. The last time she tried to dig into a fancy thing like this, it ended up toppling all over the floor due to her rusty reach.[break][break]

"It's felt so long since I've been out of the cells, I would have imagined him to have come around by now," she paused, raising an eyebrow, ".. where is he now? What has he been up to? Oh, I'm so nosy, dear."[break][break]

A glance to the door, hopeful that what she imagined to be her grandson would appear with open arms was her fantasy.. but nothing, just a bird that had made its way in and desperately needed to make its way out. Was it that he did not wish to acquaint? Or was he off being a good young one, pursuing an education?

The place that the simulation had brought them, a place so far from the ground that it brought upon a void in the absence of soil, was quite a questionable sight to her elderly mind. At first, it led her to believe that the grim song had made it into both of their ears and made a lasting impact on their bodies and souls- from the stories she heard as a young girl to the prison cells, this certainly seemed to be the sight of death. The divine staircase to heaven, some said- but they were in a simulation, that was for certain, even if she did not understand technology like the younger ones.[break][break]

Peering through the transparent steps, she was lucky to not fall and bust a simulated hip; it was strange to see, so strange that it nearly caused her body to topple over the side. Luckily, however, Kazu had been there at her side. "Oh, thank you, baby," she said with a bewildered chuckle, ".. the last time I was up so high.. I at least had my dear Ludwig there to carry me on his chest!" But, then again, she could not tell how high up they were in this reality.[break][break]

Resting with the angels, perhaps- none of which she had killed while they were mortals. They were no angels. Holding onto her much younger counterpart's arm as she used her cane to give further assistance in the slow traversal her body felt as though it demanded, as she had not done activities like this on foot in decades, she looked about- but her vision snapped to the pink bear that seemed to be rushing them. It was quite cute, it reminded her of youth.[break][break]

"Try doing that with a bad back and knees, heh." She chuckled in response to the Bewear's mannerisms, heaving with each step of the way. Regardless of the fact that if she wanted to, she could fully sprint in this limitless dreamscape of advanced pixels. It was just so easy to slip back into the things she was used to- like Stockholm Syndrome of the human shell.

Something was empowering in telling the worker underlings to get back to doing the dishes after catching them on their cell phones. Just as it was empowering to sit on the edge of a tatami mat in a tea house she very well considered her own, knowing how much veneration she had attained simply by being in the right place at the right time- all for allowing a pulsating stone of light to fall into her hands. Power was one of many things that had been deprived amidst her youth.[break][break]

But it was all starting to come together, or better yet, back. Wrinkled eyes peered upward at the door as the opening triggered the sequence of melodic chimes, and a bright, cracked smile manifested below her cheeks at the approach of her beloved visitor. "Good afternoon to you, my dear grandbaby Yumi," she said raspily, placing her cigar upon the table's metal rest, ".. oh, no need to be so formal, dear.. as long as you don't smack me across the face, heh! Come sit with me."[break][break]

Holding a hand out in welcome, Marilyn would place a sloppy kiss upon her knuckles if she were to accept.[break][break]

"Oh, it's been so wonderful here in Sootopolis, Yumi," she nodded in response, holding up an extremely shaky palm to notify the staff of their need for drinks, ".. Elisabeth Fiorelli has been oh so kind to me, she invested in all of this..! And if you love this, you would have loved the family's tea house in Johto."[break][break]

Perhaps later, or maybe in a secluded spot, she would tell Yumi that Elisabeth had not been the sole investor. MATIAS SILPH was quite easy to extort, after all. The tea was served rather quickly by a young woman- dark oolong in a clay gaiwan with three matching cups, one for the Seviper, too.[break][break]

"Who in their right mind would dare to put pickles and peanut butter on a sweet?" Marilyn chuckled in response to the little one that stood beside her in line, weighing their options with a Ralts so tiny and precious. It had been quite a few moments passed that she considered saying something, anything to her ultimately younger counterpart. Having resented the younger generations for quite some time due to their stereotypical carelessness, it was quite the odd feeling wishing to speak with someone who fit in that category.[break][break]

Perhaps it was an endearing sight, spotting what she perceived to be an innocent soul with another innocent soul on her shoulder, living a peaceful life upon the Hoennian soil like she did when she was young. Or perhaps they would simply be a joy to speak with, as she had not spoken with anyone so youthful in over fifty years. She was far too oblivious to know of the ties the stranger had with her newly beloved organization, too- but even if she did know, there was always room for secrets. Or at least, she assumed.[break][break]

"I tell you what," she spoke with a grin following a raspy clearing of the throat, ".. I think I've got enough shillings in my wallet to get one of each. We can split em' all have have a trying, like a tea tasting? It's been sixty years since I've had one of these..!"[break][break]

Really, all she wanted was a friend to talk to. But about? There was no telling, just delight at the moment.[break][break]

"One of each, boy. But no pickle peanut, that's heathenry." She said to the wait staff with a giggle.

"Thank you, my dear Hitoshi-kun! Sweet sweet Hitoshi, always coming in with things that granny just loves," she smiled, shakily grabbing the lighter that had been offered- and surely pocketing it to never grasp the hands of the dog boy again. Being told that the goons were scared of her more than 'Big Wrinkly' was an undeniable aspect, one that she had grown fond of just as she had accustomed to. "And they should have been, most definitely so! You should have seen the look in their eyes when I confiscated one of their firearms.. they were too afraid to report it!"[break][break]

Perhaps they knew what was best for them, unlike the man she once called her beloved husband- as confirmed by Yumi's words, those which led her hands to clutch pearls that descended from the cracks of her neck. Ill feelings were mutual, similar resentments tied together by tongues that had lived in the same shadow fifty years apart. A part of her wished to live by what carried her mind effervescently through prison, letting loose and not seeking control over the controller, but having done so for so long stung knowing that she was not given the same generosities.[break][break]

How dare the man. Hearing the words waver from her granddaughter's lips and echo in her ancient mind led her to grimace. It bore the other half of the woman that had often remained behind closed doors, the woman of anger, the woman that she believed to ultimately lead her to death's door faster than it already was approaching. "Let the old man remarry, that's fine..!" She still loved him, he deserved love- or so she believed up until this moment. Maybe he still deserved love, only not from her.[break][break]

"But you mean to tell me that I carried two of his seed inside my stomach.. back to back, mind you! ..Full term, while continuing the operation of the business, only for him to deprive MY BABIES of the idea of their true mother? ..The woman that pushed them out?"[break][break]

She squeezed Yumi's hand in return, harder, like a death grip; like the hand that grasps the shotgun tucked away in her cane.[break][break]

"Is the old man still in Goldenrod?" Her eyes shot to Hitoshi, aging spots nullifying the reddening of her cheeks. "Hitoshi-kun. Take me to him, I'll slit his throat myself. He does not care of true family- only the taking of women's youth."[break][break]

There was enough time to let those who deserved to know of her truly know- those who were deprived without their consent, gaslit by a filthy man who seemingly took after the younger generations and their carelessness. Unless, of course, that ran deep in the real world; she never had to bear it to know, as, before prison, life was bliss. Or so she thought.[break][break]

She'd make it an effort to let at least Yumi know what was deprived before her mortal husk withered away forever.
