No matter how badly he wanted to, no matter how hard Bryan lashed out at him, no matter how guilty he felt over the man's pain, he knew it was neither the time nor place. Instead, he bit his tongue, letting Bryan let it all out.[break][break] Maybe it was the first time in his life he'd been allowed to.[break][break] He wasn't special in Hoenn, just some nobody named Bryan Delarosa. He wasn't special in Rocket, a codename whose goal was to tote around a god and die for the cause over and over again. He had all the power in the world, and yet he made a point of not using it just so he could spite others. The world pulled back from him, so he pulled back just as hard and just as hatefully.[break][break] It wasn't until Bryan began tearing into the forest itself that Suicune snapped into action. Extrasensory force caught the rock that he threw out of the air, stopping it just before it could smash clear through the treeline. Water began to seep into the cracks of the rock, slowly but surely breaking it down into a pile of debris and dust. Suicune's eyes narrowed as they turned to face Bryan, the same extrasensory aura continuing to stream from their eyes.[break][break] They'd never had a chance to use it. Instead, with a hand on the flank, Isaac slowed Suicune's approach. The legend looked to him, nodded once, and took a step back. It wasn't their position to intervene. Though today two gods had given their blessings, this was a contest of the will of men.[break][break] "Xerneas cares about you. It's why he's been staying with you all this time. It's why he gave you these gifts in the first place. Not because he has to, but because he wants to. Because you matter to him, damnit!" It was heartbreaking. So enraged was Bryan by how much he had lost that he'd forgotten how to appreciate what he still had.[break][break] "Doesn't he count?"
