He had heard rumor's of Elisabeth Fiorelli's damage in petalburg woods after her unionship with the snail of grudges. However, the rumor's weren't accurate so far of what he had seen. It seemed for the most part the woods had been healing on their own, right? Was their power not almighty like that? [break][break]

Things weren't adding up, it had been this way for months and then suddenly it was fixed. Xerneas arrived with Bryan and spoke to him "One can see that life here is returning to normal, there is no stench of ruination here. Is this one of those "Anomalies" those hooligan's have discussed before?" he asks referring to the dark triad. [break][break]

He stays silent for a moment as he stares at the remnants of ruination and corruption "Not sure, honestly."

[attr="class","textbox"]It wasn't often that Suicune showed themselves around Petalburg Woods. Hell, it wasn't often that they showed themselves around Isaac in general. While they were his patron, they were also a traveler who rushed along the northern winds. Being tethered to one place, even beside a person of their choosing, would never be their style.[break][break]

To show up on Isaac's doorstep was a sign of great need.[break][break]

When Suicune's absence was the norm, their mere presence spoke wonders. Isaac didn't need them to say anything. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, grabbed his Pokeballs, and got himself all dressed up and ready to go. "Lead the way," he said, and with that the two of them were off.[break][break]

They drew to a stop at the edge of the treeline. Suicune had barely broken a sweat, while Isaac's wind-blown body was strained to its limits just from trying to keep up. Nevertheless, even as he panted for breath, he shot Suicune a weary smile. "Kept up way better than our last sprint, huh?" he asked, an amused smile spreading across Suicune's face.[break][break]

"So. What're we looking for, again?" As far as he could tell, Petalburg Woods looked exactly how they should. He didn't sense anything amiss at first, either. Despite that, he followed Suicune's intense glare, trying to see just what they were feeling. After a long silence, he took a step forward. Much to his surprise, Suicune followed right behind.[break][break]

"Okay. Yeah. No chance this isn't a big deal," he said, half to Suicune and half to himself. "Tone your Pressure down, just in case. If you're right about this, we don't want to be the first ones found." Suicune nodded, their mane and ribbons falling limp and the air around them drying some.[break][break]

With the way now clear, they stalked off into the forest. Little did Isaac know, despite his best efforts, there was little to no chance that the two Legends in this forest wouldn't have sensed each other.

Bryan hadn't noticed the slight pressure of the pokemon's presence, he was oblivious to such things. However, Xerneas was aware. "We have visitors." he comments. [break][break]

Bryan looks around unable to really locate them and Xerneas speaks again "If they wanted to strike, one believes they could have already. It seems we have found the one responsible for purifying this area." he says as their infinity energy already felt familiar. [break][break]

"Who?" [break][break]

"The one we fought on the beach who was bonded with the wind."
[break][break]

He shuts his hands into a fist as he looks to prepare himself for a fight, but Xerneas remains in his passive state, communicating to Bryan they would not be the first to strike in this very moment. Bewildered "We owe them, this corruption would have spread beyond our ability to fix."[break][break]

"Come out Isaac." he speaks into the air, wondering if that'd be enough.

Isaac turned to Suicune, setting a hand on the legend's flank. "I know I messed up last time, but." He faced deeper into the woods, following where the winds had carried Bryan's voice. He took a few breaths, clenching his fists to help steady himself. "This time, I'm ready."[break][break]

Suicune turned to face him, then shook their head. ". . . Huh. You sure?" Come to think of it, Bryan was never one to couch how he felt. When he came for Isaac on the resurfaced isle, he made his presence known with blood and thunder. This time, there was no hatred or venom to his voice. Instead, he'd spoken quietly, gently reaching out to him through the forest.[break][break]

It was just like the way things had been before.[break][break]

He'd trust Suicune. He'd trust Bryan. Even if he knew better than to let his guard drop all the way, he was thankful to not need to approach with weapons drawn. That had never been his style, and frankly it never would be. He'd just need to learn when it was time to take them out of their sheathes, and now wasn't it.[break][break]

Isaac, too, returned the same kindness. Rather than swirling out from the winds, he humbly strode out from the treeline. Warmth crept back into his smile in spite of himself. "Hey, Bryan," he said, Suicune striding out from behind to meet him. The legend looked Xerneas in the eyes, offering them a nod of acknowledgment and nonaggression in turn. "Good to see you, man."[break][break]

"I was kinda hoping you'd get to see all this, y'know."

Isaac appeared like an ethereal ghost summoned via his name. [break][break]

The man immediately greets the beast with a warm familiarity that Bryan does not reciprocate yet remains calm. His conflicting duties causing him much stress, as a beast he knew he was to hunt isaac down immediately...But if xerneas did not support him in it he'd be at a massive disadvantage.[break][break]

The beast was effectively muzzled. [break][break]

He takes a break from the mental anguish and stares at the vanishing corruption. "Was this all you?" he asks him as he's focused on what he saw before him. By contrast, Xerneas bows to greet the man and his unseen patron as he waits for Isaac to answer.

[attr="class","textbox"]"Can't say it's all me." Isaac took a deep breath. With one hand on Suicune's flank, he held the other to the sky. As his fist unfurled, motes of light drifted from his fingers, following the pace set by his soft exhale. Through the gaps in the mending treeline, an aurora would start to weave across the sky, bathing Isaac in its light.[break][break]

All who beheld it would feel a sense of calm, compassion, and courage was hover them. However, for once, this was not the intent behind Isaac's aurora. Instead, it would serve as a beacon. Wings cut through the air, steady buzzes and hefty beats. Bushes rustled gently, while heavy feet pounded in the distance.[break][break]

Within moments, Isaac was surrounded by a veritable menagerie of Pokemon. Dandori the Shaymin poked out curiously from Ceres the Torterra's bushes. Sectonia the Vespiquen suspiciously eyed Bryan, while Zephyrus the Dragonite flashed him a warm and welcoming smile. Perhaps, to Bryan, this would still be considered "all Isaac," from how they responded to his whims. However, to Isaac, it couldn't be more different.[break][break]

"Suicune gave me the strength we needed to fight off the rot here, but we were too late to stop it from hurting the forest." Elisabeth Fiorelli's curse had run, wild and unchecked, for months. Vandals and copycats burned and blighted the forest through more mundane means all the while. That couldn't just be undone in the snap of a finger. "So that meant me and the guys had a lot of work to do."[break][break]

As if to demonstrate, Ceres' shell began to grow. Her Overgrowth ebbed from her shell to her feet, her earthen body reinforcing the nutrients that the soil had been so desperately wanting for. Dandori slid down to the tip of her nose, his own blooms flaring out in response to her efforts. Bit by bit, the ground began to blossom into a carpet of flowers, Zephyrus' Springtime Storm helping to coax them out of hiding.[break][break]

Tired, the trio slumped against each other, drowsily examining their handiwork. Now was Sectonia's chance to step up, her Attack Order drones drifting along the spring breezes to begin pollinating these magically enhanced blooms. Their efforts would be the mundane longevity that such magical methods could never achieve on their own.[break][break]

"See what I mean? I might've got the ball rolling, but we've all got a part to play."

He stays silent for the most part. Isaac had already done half of this, something that Xerneas most likely saw as HIS responsibility to maintain the balance. [break][break]

Even if it was not his world directly he felt a love for it as if it were his own. Xerneas looks on at Bryan, sealing off his emotions from Bryan momentarilty as his gaze shifts to the scenery around them. "One thanks you for the hard work you've put into maintaining the balance here." [break][break]

Bryan remains silent as his own emotions flare up in response but he quickly stifles them. "Allow one to lend their strength to finish off the remnants of this wicked corruption and purge the land of this filth." he says as he starts to channel Geomancy. [break][break]

"Wait are you-" [break][break]

"Yes. Do not question one." [break][break]

He had begun to be treated as a child as Bryan sucks on his teeth and quietly obeys, releasing some of his energy and returning it to the source.

[attr="class","textbox"]The last Xerneas and Isaac met, the reception had been scathing. He was accused of abandoning his friend and being neglected by his partner. Had it not been for Bryan's own lingering compassion staying his hand, Isaac was sure the legend would have finished him with all the disdain of a man stepping on a twig.[break][break]

Now, with the forest basked in the rainbow light of his Geomancy, Xerneas greeted Isaac warmly.[break][break]

Isaac set a hand atop Suicune's crest, raising his other to the sky. Its crystalline structure began to hum and shimmer as energy flowed from the legend to its patron. His own infinity energy drifted upwards to the skies as Xerneas' flowed through the land. The skies opened up, waters of life raining down on a forest now oh so willing to accept them.[break][break]

Supported by the efforts of Isaac and his team, nothing could get in Xerneas' way. With each shimmering pulse of its Geomancy, the land sprang back to life. Crumbling soil and dessicated grass grew more lush and full than it had ever been. Trees that would need years to lay dormant sprung from the ground, as if they'd simply been waiting to be reawakened. Great waves of light and warmth rolled through the forest, a sight Zephyrus couldn't help but take to the skies and admire from a dragon's eye view.[break][break]

With two legendaries and their avatars working in perfect concert, harmony had come to Petalburg once more.[break][break]

"I can't thank you enough for this, Xerneas," Isaac said, giving the legend of life a respectful bow. His seriousness in the face of such a mighty being then gave way to pure glee as he turned to Bryan. "Dude, did you see that? Did you feel that? We just-"[break][break]

Isaac trailed off. Something didn't seem right. Bryan didn't look triumphant. He looked like a scolded child. Briefly, Isaac found himself thinking back to Xerneas' words. Do not question one. It had been for good ends, and yet . . .[break][break]

A slight frown spread across his face, worry shining in his eyes.

He remains silent, a fist clenched. Against his will he still assisted Xerneas and Isaac, partially against his will. The land surged with energy as the combined energy of two avatars purged the filth, corruption, and resentment that poisoned the soil of this land. [break][break]

However, what should have been a joyous celebration of life, was instead a parade of conflicting emotions for Bryan. [break][break]

"Yes. I felt it." he responds coldly as Xerneas takes note of his demeanor, unaware of the clenched fist that Bryan hid out of it's piercing gaze. The surge of adrenaline that rushed through him was addicting but his mood was soured by the context of the situation. "Woohoo. Go us." he continues. [break][break]

Xerneas stifles his tongue, for it was rare for Bryan to just talk to someone who had desert the closest thing he could call a family. "Guess now we can just forgive and forget everything right? Yayyy." he says clapping mockingly

The smile across Isaac's face was an uncharacteristically melancholic one as he turned to face Bryan. It didn't take such outright sarcasm for Isaac to get the hint. Hell, Bryan could've given him a fistbump and an asspat and he'd still know there wasn't some golden ending here. Not with what each of them needed. Not with where each of them had been.[break][break]

Even if it was possible, Bryan clearly didn't want it. That, more than anything, was what mattered here.[break][break]

"You didn't want to share your power there." It wasn't an accusation. It wasn't a judgment. If anything, there was a wince of sympathy to his voice. From the obligations of Beasthood, to the whims of his patron, to the lingering grief from his sister's death, forces beyond Bryan's control had been leading him around by the nose since the day Isaac met him.[break][break]

"Look. I know the next time we see each other, it's not gonna be like this. You're gonna have me at knifepoint, and I'm gonna have to get over myself and fight back. But, fuck, man. While we're already in a truce, I just need to know something." He sighed. Even surrounded by the blooms of their fading friendship, he knew what he was asking here was a tall order.[break][break]

"What do you want?"

Because regardless of what his response was, he knew it would never happen. He was never going to get Soleil back, he wasn't going to get priam conrad back, and his mental state decayed with each passing second that it remained this way. [break][break]

Yet the only thing he had an infinite source of, was time. Cruel, unending, time. He had already gotten what he had wanted and now he was too addicted to it to let it go. [break][break]

"For you to come back. I can help your standing in rocket, it's not too late Isaac." he says as in a sudden twist. "I'm conflicted, I've never been upset about having to kill a former rocket, not even Remiel Calcifet." he tells him. "Hell, how will they react knowing if they find out we helped you?" he responds as Bryan softens up slightly. [break][break]

Xerneas continues to watch, focusing on bryan rather than Isaac and remaining ever silent.

Isaac was the type to move heaven and earth to do right by his friends, even the ones who loathed him now. League or Rocket, selfless or selfish, the little things or the most far-flung hopes, Isaac wouldn't rest until those he loved knew true happiness. Even if it would put him at risk, or get him hurt, he would do the best by them he possibly could.[break][break]

He'd do anything for love. But he knew he couldn't do that.[break][break]

"Bryan . . ." Pain wrenched through Isaac's voice. He wanted nothing more than to avert his eyes, but he forced himself to meet Bryan's head on. "I can't live that life, man. I tried. I really did. But I got too deep. Realized the way things were going, it was gonna kill me. Tried my damndest to hang on, but, fuck, man. It already was."[break][break]

He remembered how things started in Rocket. He had been a star of the lower echelon, knocking out theft after theft and eagerly roughing up those who had it coming to them. Frankly, if things had never escalated past that point, he might have stayed in Rocket forever. It wasn't like society had done anything for him. Why shouldn't he run circles around it?[break][break]

Then came Meteno, where Isaac saw just how far Rocket would go for their ambitions. Zev Harcourt's bloodlust, and his not-so-subtle attempts to mold Isaac in his image. Ashley Shepard's mental decay, a warm and loving man being broken down to nothing over what Rocket demanded of him. Cillian Quinn's punishment, forcing Isaac to confront his inability to kill in what had ended up a frankly pathetic spectacle. Every person, every tragedy, every step Isaac took down the path made it increasingly clear that he was never meant for this kind of life.[break][break]

Had he stayed in Rocket, he would surely die. But would that even matter to Bryan? He'd outlive everyone either way.

"I won't tell a soul about what you did." He wished he could. He wished he could shout from the heavens that Bryan Delarosa had a heart. He wished he could find the best way to protect it, to show him that he didn't need to live like this anymore. He wished that, together, they could make this world a better place. Yet he knew it would only hurt Bryan more in the end, so he'd keep that secret no matter how much it hurt. "And if anyone even tries to hurt you for it . . ."[break][break]

Isaac's hands balled into fists, knowing how much he'd risk to protect someone who wanted him dead.

"You wouldn't be there to stop them. I think you're just full of shit Isaac, everyone leaves me and you kno-" he retorts as he was just a ball of conflicting feelings. [break][break]

"One does not think young Bryan is being fair to young isaac." he says as the god intervenes with his own opinions. "One thinks if Bryan were in his shoes, Bryan would have done the same exact thing. Therefore why is one's chosen upset with the other?" he ponders as he speaks to Bryan directly, lowering his antler to meet his gaze head one. [break][break]

He's taken back, literally, he walks backwards into a tree at Xerneas's piercing gaze. He expected Xerneas to have his back, to be his ally, his partner. Yet instead here he was, getting ganged up on. He bumps into the tree and it creaks and shakes at his unnatural strength pushing it. "W-What?" [break][break]

"Is one incorrect?" [break][break]

Once again, he was told that he was going in too deep for rocket. First priam conrad , now Isaac Merlo . Was he? His grip on reality was fraying at the seams, his humanity decaying with each passing day.[break][break]

This disconnect had him disassociating further and further as the human known as Bryan delarosa became more and more a distant dream and wolf replaced it. "He should be LUCKY I even associated with him! I'm a fucking GOD!" he answers back to Xerneas who was surprised by this sudden burst of anger. [break][break]

"Delarosa." he says calmly as bryan continues to rant "I can fucking do whatever I want! I have that right dont I?! I came out on top and did the fucking IMPOSSIBLE!" [break][break]

"Delarosa." [break][break]

"So who is HE to leave me and just walk away when he was just a fuckin lo-" [break][break]

"BRYAN." the voice erupts through the forest as it stomps it's foot and demands silence. The nearby pidgey flying off elsewhere out of fear of what may transpire there and Bryan also falls silent, fear becoming evident on his face for isaac to witness.

Isaac could still remember the lashing vines from the Tree of Life, battering down his every defense with the relentless fury of a god. It had only been Bryan's own conflicted heart that spared him from annihilation.[break][break]

Now, with that conflicted heart calling for war, Xerneas stood by Isaac's side and told their own charge to stand down.[break][break]

To a degree, Isaac knew Bryan was right. His heart was true. If he was there, he'd risk everything to help Bryan. But he wasn't there, and that was half the problem. Even if he heard his pain whispered along the northern winds, even if he ran fast enough to turn the region to a blur beneath his feet, who was to say he could make it on time?[break][break]

Who was to say he'd help, instead of dying right by an immortal's side?[break][break]

But there was something important underlining that truth, something that it seemed Bryan had forgotten. In the presence of a pair of beings that the world saw as gods, Bryan ranted and raved. In his words, he took his place among them. Why shouldn't he? Other avatars came and went, and yet Bryan was immortal. The fact that had caused him so much agony was now his secrurit blanket.[break][break]

"We're not gods." We. Even a "fucking loser" had now sipped from the same cup as Bryan. Their dynamic had changed, in more ways than one. "We've been given these gifts for a reason. To help others, the world, fuck, man. Even just to help ourselves."[break][break]

"Is this even helping you anymore?"
