After a nap - the two of them snuggled up together on a bench - Ettie and Yip were ready to go..!!

... Or at least, they were at the battlefield for their next fight. It appeared the two were a bit distracted, Yip having taken to doodling on the ground, and Ettie giggling as she used Yip's own paint to join in with a bit of fingerpainting of her own.

They seemed to be having fun, at least!

For Ettie's credit, she noticed pretty quickly as Onyx and Lucan both made their approach - glancing up, and smiling brightly. "Hello, Friends!" She'd greet with a bright wave, getting up and stepping back a few paces to clear the battlefield.

Yip, too, would perk up - and hopping back onto her feet proper, would make a couple of eager yips! She would shine bright as she Terastallized into Normal, with that familiar crystalline quality and everything.

And once prepared, she'd twirl her tail a couple of times, before holding it like a rifle - letting loose a Tera Blast from it in the form of a deluge of white paint!

Onyx lifted a hand in a weak wave of hello as the battle began.

Lucan dodged nimbly out of the way of most of the white paint… though Onyx was not so lucky, attempting to jump away with an ungainly squawk and ended up splattered all the way up one side of his body. “Fuck!” He shook his right hand, and drops of white paint pattered off onto the ground.

Lucan threw himself at the Terastalized Smeargle with vital throw, aiming to suplex the beast into the ground.

As Onyx got sprayed with paint, Yip would blink for a second - before being unable to help a brief snicker, clearly taking a bit of amusement in the other trainer's misfortune. Ettie, too, would giggle softly - though she tried to be a bit more subtle about it.

However, soon Yip was struck with misfortune of her own as Lucan was suddenly much closer than expected, and grabbing at her! Though the Smeargle squirmed, she'd find herself thrown harshly into the ground, drawing a yelp from her.

The Smeargle would make a faintly disgruntled sound as she got up and dusted herself off - and she was more than ready to try and return the favor. As with a use of Copycat, she'd try to charge at Lucan and Vital Throw him right back..!

The Smeargle made a series of squeaking noises, like a Poochyena’s rubber toy being tossed, as it bounced along the ground. Then it got back up, dusted itself off, and charged right back at Lucan.

Well. Rhinoceros beetles only know two thing: eat hot chip and charge. So he couched his snapping jaws, kicked back dust like a Tauros, and went careening forward, to meet Yip’s rush attack with his own.

As he went, Onyx touched the megastone in his pocket; gleaming light swirled around Lucan, and his carapace cracked and snapped like old leather as electric-yellow wings burst from his back, dripping with olive green ichor, like butterfly wings fresh from a chrysalis.

Though a Mega Evolution was a stunning sight - and would be scary... It seemed that Yip had the upper hand here - perhaps due to a brief adjustment period?

Regardless, as the two met, she'd eagerly use the supernatural strength offered by the Copycat'd Vital Throw to snatch Lucan by his pincers. And twirling around, the Smeargle would proceed to spin, spin, before YEETing the bug away!

And quick to follow up on the attack - in the hopes that she wouldn't have to face the Mega Evolved Lucan's wrath - Yip would once more pick her tail up, to fire off another Tera Blast spray of paint!

Lucan got thrown like the main event at a buggy ring toss sideshow carnival, his wings fluttering comically like paper as he went. He hit the ground hard, rolled, and then popped back up, dropping to all fours to Lycanroc-run back at the little Smeargle, enraged and engaged.

Something, somewhere at the back of his little brain pinged, and he remembered to dodge the tera blast paint fountain, this time, as he closed in on his mark with a finishing guillotine.

Oh dear Arceus, there wasn't much poor Yip could do against the Pinsir's wrath. Though she'd bounce away from the first few snips of Lucan's pincers, the next would catch her and proceed to squeeze..! Yelping, Yip's only escape from an instant KO would be to Teleport - though she was still left smarting from the strike, stumbling back some.

Backed up to the figurative wall, she'd attempt to once more turn Lucan's moves against him - Copycat-ing the Guillotine! Forming a blade at the end of her tail from her paint, she'd swing it around, attempting to bring it down on him..!

These short, brutish battles were skillfully inferior. The inability to have more than one Pokemon really put a damper on Onyx’s strategical thinking-- which, for all his faults, he really did have. Honest. He was a good battler. He was good at Pokemon battles and good at hurting people, and he clung to these things, because he was only better than andres buenaventura at one of them.

But for this, Lucan’s preferred style of run at it, really hard, would have to do.

But the little Smeargle was a slippery customer. What he thought would be a finishing strike merely knocked the thing askance, and it teleported with a bloop, only to reappear and swing at him with a guillotineblade made of paint.

With his mega-evolution wearing off, Lucan had to wrap this up, and fast; he hoped to beat the Smeargle at its own game, aiming to dive underneath the guillotine blade and X-Scissor that pesky paintbrush tail that kept causing all the problems!

Though the X-Scissor was a close play, Yip proved to be just that slightest bit faster - the painted blade instead deflecting Lucan's pincers, and slamming into him..!

The inertia of the swing would send Yip spinning a couple of times with a yelp. But as she soon came to a stop, she'd attempt to maintain her momentum, and fire off one last Tera Blast at Lucan while he was still within close range!

This would be the deciding exchange, one way or another...

It was a show of just how much dexterity the Smeargle had that the paint tail-blade parried Lucan’s attack and managed to deliver a sharp blow to the bug’s face. One pincer was almost completely cut through close to his head, dangling uselessly down in front of his eyes.

The spinning Smeargle made Onyx a little dizzy, but when it stopped, pointing in Lucan’s direction, he knew this match was coming to a close. The wounded beetle dropped to all fours and charged once more, hoping to get the upper hand and strike first with guillotine before the tera blast could do its massive damage…

Indeed; though Lucan might end up coated with paint, it only served as a smokescreen for the Pinsir to get in close. Yip would end up snatched up once more in Lucan's pincers, and would let out a whine as she got squeezed. Before anything serious can be done, she once more Teleports away...

... But not long after, flops over - done with the fight.

Ettie hums softly, walking up to scritch Yip behind the ear encouragingly, before smiling up to Onyx. "Was fun!" She chirped, cheery as can be despite the loss.
