her first match-up is a welcome surprise. she'd thoroughly enjoyed her gym match with her friend's protege, as frustrating as the frogs had been, and she's no doubt cian will give her and lyune a run for her money in this match.

she smiles as she approaches the other end of the pitch and waves upon releasing the salamence onto the field.

"good to see you, cian!" she calls. "let's give them a good show!"

"he likes a friendly battle every once in a while," she says with a smile. "have to keep him on his toes, you know?"

she recognizes the froakie. it gave her hell in their gym match and managed to knock out aeris. as much as she'd love to underestimate it, that sort of haughty pride had almost lost her the battle last time.

lyune does not share her wariness. he shifts from side to side, twitches his tail, and blasts a dragon pulse out at the target.

lyune's jaw twists and the bright purple light burns away the froakie's hydro pump. residual water splashes against his chest and glistens ineffectively down his scales.

he has not moved, save for his neck, and when he stretches back to his full height, he considers the frog.

"he has twelve," she says and smirks as he releases another dragon pulse again.

he puts his hand over his eyes to help him see better as he tries and peer at freya morningstar's salamence, squinting to see that it does in fact only have three toes on each foot. very funny.[break][break]

froakie, abandoned by its trainer, does hand seals and creates copies of itself with DOUBLE TEAM in an attempt to evade the DRAGON PULSE. in return, all copies try and LICK salamence, one tongue for each toe.[break][break]

"their toes are cute actually," she says and walks to the top right of her side of the field so she can get an angle on CIAN MAHER. he has his hands up over his eyes and has completely abandoned his partner pokemon in the wake of her dragon's pulsing blasts.

the froakie isn't proving very limber this time around.

"they're kind of like - " but her mouth puckers, nose wrinkling as his froakie tries to lick lyune's toes from all sides.

affronted, lyune spreads his wings and takes to the air. the purple light in his maw shifts to a brilliant orange. she expects a draco meteor and startles when the z-crystal entwined in her braids begins to glow. the rolling comet in his maw cracks and fangs extend. a head wriggles through and when the energy becomes too much, the devastating drake streaks down from above.

and then that's it. lyune hovers in the air, head tilted, watching for any sign of movement. when cian finally catches on to his fainted pokemon, lyune has already dropped back to the ground with a grunt and folded his wings.

he preens, chest puffed, clearly pleased with himself, especially following the aggravation the creature had caused him during their last encounter.

"word to the wise? you shouldn't let your froakie lick toes. especially his."
