A shadow swept over the arena, blotting out the sun ever so briefly before descending. Gwyar's Corviknight made her landing before her trainer, her red gaze zeroing into Ripper's before giving the Scizor a nod.

"Yes. Let us."

Lancelette met Ripper's eager gaze with her own, leaping forth to meet his lunge.

As his arms spun wildly like storms, her wings shone with a steel glimmer, hardening to armor before she crossed them before herself, meeting the other's attack.

The air clapped as a barrier was broken, the two pokemon meeting dramatically in the middle of the arena before Lancelette attempted to spread her wings wide and spring away the Scizor.

The move was effective as separating her from her opponent— but it also grounded her, her feet skidding along the soil.

The Scizor was upon her before she could manage to take flight again however, the cocked back fists making her flinch and reflexively raise a steel wing for protection.

She got clobbered on the cranium twice for her efforts, tricked by the other's fake out, the double pincers driving her further down unto the ground, her beak eating dirt.

With a growl, a dark aura surged out of her as she attempted to push away and also take flight, flapping her wings wildly.

Lancelette struggled against her opponent's grip, trying to dislodge the scizor with violent sweeps across the sky.

Carrying around the bug wasn't much— her species was known for lugging around entire carriages, after all.

But the pressure it was exerting on her was insane— she wanted it off!

With a cry, the bird's body shone crimson before she began spinning about wildly, barreling towards the soil in an explosive crash.

She dished out her move— now she had to deal with his.

Fresh out of z-energy too— that post-z-move exhaustion was hitting hard. Gritting her beak, Lancelette could do little more than raise her wings and harden them as much as she could, each and every blow from her opponent feeling as though it would pierce through her body.

The last blow sent her hurtling back, bouncing along the soil before grinding back to a stop. Her wings felt like a mess... but they weren't clipped just yet, allowing her to raise a tired, defiant gaze back at her opponent.

She had hunkered down until the very end of the barrage of blows— and now was time to see things through.

Just as Ripper went for the final blow, so did she, blazing flames exploding around her as she released a cry akin to a vicious eagle, a single flap of the wings launching her forth towards the Scizor to meet in one final, climatic clash.

Lancelette panted and wheezed as the battle ended, her knees buckling under her before she fell on her plumaged ass.

Gwyar laughed as he approached, patting her back.

"Gave you the fright of your life, didn't he?" He teased.

Fortunately, for her, Ripper had held back on living up to his namesake during the fight.

"And thank you, Thomas. It was a battle well fought." He said, clapping the younger man's shoulder before holding out his hand. "It has been a long time— shall we go for drinks?"
