Zachary didn't intend to be among Mt. Pyre this long, but a lot was going on here. A lot of interesting people would come buy, and he met new faces, both friendly and scary. Finally, Mt. Pyre was now graced with a change of pace-- clear skies. Though now at night, the sky was no longer eclipsed by storm clouds and the gloomy air of death that hung over this cemetery. The stars twinkled, and the moon was bright in the sky. For now, Zachary was taking in the now fresh night air. Beside him, was his trusty Delphox Dizzy, keeping their surroundings bright by his lit stick he always kept with him. Both the boy and the fox were looking at the twinkling stars, enjoying the view and piece. [break][break] But there was something else Zachary wished to find beyond just Psychic Pokemon or stars... discovering mythical secrets. He knew this place was basically a big cemetery with the spirits of lost Pokemon and people. However, he wanted to find something special. Places like this held great secrets. While he didn't want to disturb the dead callously, he heard rumors back in town that special ruins dedicated to the psychic Pokemon were around here. Now that it wasn't so dark around them, he was curious to find it and see what they had to offer. [break][break] "Alright, Dizzy. Let's go find us some ruins. I bet we can find some cool treasure or something in there too. Like one of those RPG games!" Zachary said with childish optimism. It was one of his fantasizes to go on a treasure hunt in some magical ruins-- and the dangers inside too. [break][break] Dizzy gave a sarcastic leer at Zachary, but didn't argue. The fox still was loyal and of course, Zachary's best friend. He too, did share the desire to find new adventures in this place. [break][break] Out of habit, Zachary took a card from his Tarot deck-- divining any idea what he could expect as he would start his search for the ruins-- the ancient shrine around this place. As he did, he soon turned the first card over to find it. [break][break]

[break][break] The card, The Hermit greeting him. Its meaning to him as a 'solo adventurer' seeking something in his solitude. He didn't know what signnificance there was in that one, but he regarded the warning as he pocketed his cards, and left to find his missing temple. [break][break] Despite night, the area was surprisingly clear, and with Dizzy' aid providing fire to light their way. The two climbed the hall of tombstones and markers to reach the hilltop, the very zenith of Mt. Pyre, in hopes to find the old ruins. As they got closer, they soon saw stones that looked less and less like graves-- and more like building structures. As they approached the top of the hill, they could see far more of the mountain. As they did find areas that looked more like ruins of this mysterious place, they soon saw someone. A shadow standing among the stones and grass. Both Zachary and Dizzy looked surprise to find they were not alone. [break][break] "Huh? Hey there-- who are you?" Zachary asked, curious and unsure who or what it was. [break][break]

Zoë stood near an entrance to the ruins of Pyre Mountain. Stars glittered overhead and she was overcome by the quiet that came with being in a public place so late at night. Devereux, her absol, sat by her leg, staring out at the land below them. They were on a cliff side essentially, giving them a fantastic view of Hoenn below and the night sky above. She knew Devereux preferred the dark and the quiet. It was his way. Zoë couldn't help but agree, having always been alone for the most part throughout her life. [break][break]
Zoë sighed as she took in the scene before her. She didn't know what she was waiting for, standing there with her hands on her hips. Maybe she expected something to happen. Or maybe for someone to stop her. Going into ancient ruins alone and without a rope (again) was likely not the best idea. She had Devereux, Scotch, and Jinx, yes. But there was a stark contrast between pokemon and people. Perhaps controversial, but also undeniable.

Zoë's head turned as the sound of footsteps penetrated the silence. Devereux didn't turn, but she could tell he was paying close attention because his fur bristled slightly at the curve of his back. Zoë saw a form come into view. A voice called out and Zoë stared for several moments as he came closer before responding.

"What? She frowned, her voice coming out slightly irritated. "What kind of question is that?
[break][break]
She didn't mean to be so confrontational. In fact, it didn't even occur to her that her words might come across that way in the moment. She was irritated with life, and so she was irritated with him. And besides that, she didn't owe him her name. Why would he assume she would just tell him who she was? He was a stranger at night on the top of Mount Pyre. There were a million better questions to ask, and yet he'd gone with that one.

To Zachary's surprise, the stranger was not what or who he expected. His response was rather impulsive, as he didn't know anyone else was there in this empty mountain. This place was growing more and more popular for a graveyard. As the person turned, Zachary got to see them. It was a woman. A woman with black wavy hair and an elegant face. She looked almost so mysterious that Zachary could have easily mistook her for a ghost herself. The presence of her Pokemon was also not unknown as Dizzy too looked to see the Absol nearby. [break][break] Her answer was brusk but on point at Zachary's initial 'greeting'. He looked sheepish now as he stood there, dumbfounded besides the Delphox that held the tourch, giving better light for them all to see. [break][break] However, the cold reply made Zachary think HE had errored. He glanced to Dizzy, and then back to her, nervous that he may of been rude. " Um... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude or startle you." Zachary apologized, seeing her rather cold stare at him. He rubbed a hand behind his neck as he tried to think things out better. "I didn't know anyone was out here this late-- but well, who am I to talk?" he explained.[break][break] Dizzy, Zachary's Delphox glanced at Zachary and then shook his head, as if to 'sigh' from embarrassment. [break][break]"Maybe we can start over. I'm Zachary. Zachary Stellar. Good evening," he said with a smile. [break][break] "Bruk-bruk!" The Delphox barked.[break][break] Zachary rolled his eyes as he forgot to add. "And my pal here is Dizzy." The Delphox bowed his head in greetings to the mysterious girl. [break][break] While she seemed as cold still, Zachary hoped to try and be respectful to the woman. She seemed older than him, and probably more experienced as a trainer, if she was one. "Um... are you here exploring the temples here too? I was hoping to do some exploring and maybe find some treasure or something...?" he said, feeling a bit childish to say it outright. [break][break]

Zoë truly didn't mean to be rude. It wasn't her nature to be mean, it was just that...well, the boy had caught her by surprise. She hadn't been expecting for anyone else to be there at night. She'd wanted a bit of solitude, if she were being honest. But she'd been interrupted. Was that his fault? No, not at all. But she'd treated him like it had been, and that was wrong of her. She watched him deflate a bit as he responded.

Zoë sighed and shook her head, looking away from the boy and back out toward the view off the side of the mountain. "No...I'm sorry." She had to apologize. She wasn't in the habit of not taking responsibility for things that were most definitely her fault. Her gaze flickered back to him as he rubbed the back of his neck almost shyly. She pressed her lips together, not necessarily deep in thought, but definitely reconsidering how she'd first seen him. It was entirely possible he was like her. Not good with people, no, not just that. Bad with people. Socially inept and uneducated.

Zoë nodded, shifting on her feet to face him fully. "I'm Zoë. Zoë Crow." She gestured to her absol. "And this is Devereux."

In the wake of Zachary's delphox's noises, Devereux remained silent, simply staring at the other pokemon without a hint of emotion. It was really nothing unusual.

Zachary spoke and Zoë almost smiled. Almost. Instead, she bit her lip to refrain from laughing and stepped towards the boy. "Yes. I'm here on assignment. I'm trying to find something for a museum here in Hoenn." Zoë stared at him, her eyes calculating. "It's dangerous to roam around at night, you know. Especially in a temple like this." She half turned, her eyes still on him. "If you would rather not go alone, I don't mind going in together."

She said it matter-of-factly. As if it were the most logical thing in the world, which in her mind, it was.

She seemed uneasy with him. Zachary wasn't really sure how to address or fix the siatuion. She really seemed nice but almost withdrawn. Not shy but... reserved, like she didn't trust him. To be fair who would trust a complete stanger out in a graveyard? Zachary felt bad being that guy , and if this was a horror movie-- it would end bad for them no matter how you slice it. Of course, they had the company of two amazing Pokemon. They were not defenseless, and not going in blind.
[break][break] Curious, Dizzy leaned closer to the Absol and sniffed in his direction, wanting to get to know the creature despite its emotionless responce-- so far. [break][break]
At her slow but clear offer to not explore the dangerous ruins alone-- Zachary smiled warmly at her. "That would be a smart idea. Honestly it be nice to have someone with more experience here to rely on as well. " he said. Once Dizzy finished getting familiar with Devereux, the fox soon took his stick and the fire on it grew brighter, like a torch. As if to impress Zoe, Dizzy held his head high, held his torch and marched into the tomb to light the way for them. Only thing missing was a hat and whip to add to the fox's roguish image.[break][break] Zachary just sighed as he followed the fox in, embarrassed. [break][break] The inside of the ruins were cluttered but rather smooth. Some pillars laid broken in the chamber, but the wall carvings were intact. All the while Dizzy illuminated the carvings-- showing different depictments of people-- and Pokemon. [break][break]

Zoë watched as Dizzy, Zachary's Delphox, approached Devereux. The absol stared at the pokemon from the corner of his eye, but made no move in response. Even so, Zoë heard the slight huff the pokemon made under his breath as Dizzy sniffed the white fur on his head. Zoë's eyes narrowed as Zachary smiled at her. She wasn't sure why, but she felt as if the boy was being genuine. He really was happy that she'd offered to go with him into the temple. She was so used to being shunned, but here was someone who obviously wanted her company.

Zoë gave Zachary a tentative smile in response. She stepped aside to let Dizzy through with his torch. She let Zachary go first, following with Devereux close behind her. As they walked, she saw the carvings and paintings on the walls. People and pokemon, all in various arrays of colors and forms. Zoë's eyes flitted from one image to another curiously, the light from Dizzy's torch flickering over the walls eerily.

Zoë faced forward once more, her eyes on Zachary's back. He was young, that was obvious. She wondered how old he really was though? It wasn't that odd for a kid to be out alone with his pokemon. Hell, plenty of kids traveled the region in the same way. But to be out at night? Trying to explore a temple like this?

"Did you say you were looking for treasure?" she asked.

The temple seemed to be a couple hundred years old. While worn down, it still seemed stable. Whether as a shrine of worship or a tomb of some kind, it seemed to show praise for both people and Pokemon. However, no items of value seemed to stick out. At least, nothing clear to the naked eye. Zachary was still impressed by the architecture in general and the carvings. As Dizzy slowly walked through the chamber, Zoe's voice asked him if he was looking for treasure. Zachary paused at that as he turned-- realizing how callous it must be looking for such things in a tomb. "Well... when you put it that way... " he said, a half-crooked smile on his face. Fact was, the way she said it made him feel ashamed. He was not a tomb robber. If something was clearly a last will item of value, he doubt he would just take it. Still, he loved the idea to find hidden treasure. "I guess... where else would you find hidden treasures but places like this. Still, its not like I want to disrespect the dead either... I don't want to be callous here." Zachary said as he scratched his cheek.[break][break] Dizzy soon approached a blocked off section. Pillars had fallen, blocking the exit and collapsing the door. He gave a swift bark to them-- telling them to come closer. Dizzy waited for them as they saw the blocked passage. "Dizzy, Something up? We can't get through here, not without digging or something..." Zachary mused aloud. [break][break] However, the showoff fox gave a sly grin to them and soon looked to the wall. His eyes then glowed a multi-colored glow, and released his psychic powers. The stones began to glow too with the same aura. As if time rolled backwards, the pillars and stones began to push aside and re-erect themselves, to slowly open the passage. After a minute of the flying debris magically repair itself, they soon saw the way clear, allowing them deeper into the ruins. [break][break] "Wow... I know I shouldn't be surprised, but I love being surprised by psychic Pokemon." he said with a smile. He soon came up and gave Dizzy a friendly pat on the head. "Thanks buddy!" [break][break] Dizzy however shook the hand off-- embarassed. Right now, he wanted to impress Zoe, being a foxy pokemon and with his torch, bravely led them further in. [break][break]
