The palm of a hand strikes against him, swelling against his cheek. Jayden grits his teeth, fighting the urge of the storm that threatens to rise inside of him, but otherwise does nothing.

[break][break] Bruises line his torso from their fight on this very tundra, made even more so by the scalding burns incurred from THEO BECKETT as a result of his disobedience.

[break][break] But Jayden knew better. He had known better, in the moment, and yet had done it anyway.

[break][break] When it is all over, he staggers to his feet.

[break][break] With that said and done, there is only one thing left.

It is the first time that he stands up to THEO BECKETT. In the decade that they have known each other, Jayden had never - not once - thought to speak up against the Underboss.

in this moment, as jayden cross stands up to theo for the first time in their long, vast, and complicated history, he is reminded of his conversation with Elisabeth Fiorelli, knowing now what she meant.[break][break]

chien-pao proves to be too heavy an influence to ever directly fight against. but, with time, jayden cross might be able to with the proper guidance; guidance that cannot be given the same way as before.[break][break]

so he swallows the learnings of his past, dismissing them with a sigh.[break][break]

"as it should. Remiel Calcifet is a disgusting sight."[break][break]
