Oh God no, not the little squeak toy baby Pokemon again. Eddie watched with some horror as the Mime Jr. cried as it held up the barrier protecting it from Cassidy's NIGHT SLASH. Between that and the other Pokemon's partial Fairy-typing, they were in for a slow and agonizing match, and Eddie was really starting to feel like he was the bad guy in this situation. [break][break]

Thankfully, the real threat was still asleep. Even as the little comets in miniature struck the Pangoro with their STORED POWER, Cassidy seemed mostly undaunted, so Eddie opted to press his advantage, [break][break]

“C'mon buddy, I need ya to hit 'em a little harder'n that!” [break][break]

The bear growled in indignation as he struck again with a SLASH, this time aiming for the Mime Jr. Eddie winced as he watched the bear reel back for the blow, and decided that maybe he ought to stay away from fighting baby Pokemon in future encounters.

Slash was strong but Happy's resilliant nature made it nothing the little mime couldn't handle. He soon used Reflect again, to make the damage less impactful. Meanwhile, Prophet was still asleep . "Prophet! Wake up already!" Zachary shouted. [break][break] In that moment, the bird's head snapped wide awake-- eyes open. Seeing the Pangoro attacking Happy, the bird took action. With a loud cry, it conjured a Shadow Ball in a split second move, and fired it at the panda. [break][break] The sudden jolt was a shock to everyone as the bird snapped awake, and now was apart of the battle again. Things were going well for Zachary, and soon he felt a rush of relief, knowing they would possibly win. [break][break]

Eddie's eyes widened in shock as the bird suddenly bolted awake and launched a SHADOW BALL at Cassidy. There was something so ominous about the wide-eyed stare of the bird as the attack landed, and while it wasn't quite as fierce of a blow as Eddie feared, the force of the blast sent Cassidy reeling back. The bear swayed a little on his feet, and his trainer knew that he didn't have much longer before their time was up, [break][break]

“One more time, big guy!” Eddie cheered, “Just one more hit for me, bud! You can do it!” [break][break]

That REFLECTive barrier couldn't hold forever, surely. The Pangoro shook his head roughly, and with some lumbering effort, bounded toward the Xatu. Cassidy opened his maw, all glimmering white fangs, and prepared to CRUNCH down on the bird if he managed to get his paws on them.

The Pangoro's attack was a last ditch effort-- but the attack was enough to do the big thing. Reflect soon cracked, having endured all it could! The shards of energy shattered, and vanished, leaving Xatu open to its attack. The giant bear came down to try and take a bite on Prophet like he was chicken! [break][break] "Finish it, Happy!" Zachary cried, not about to want to see Prophet get 'eaten'. "Dazzling GLEAM!!" [break][break] "Miiiiiiimeeee!" Happy cheered as he gave a dramatic spin, and raised his tiny hands. With his small display, a brilliant light radiated from his body. It glowed and grew brighter. In that moment, Happy charged forward, glowing like a brilliant rocket, attempting to intercept the crunch. The little mime was a brave little Pokemon as it charged, delivering to meet the Crunch of the Pangoro with all his might! [break][break] The impact made Zachary flinch, guarding his eyes from the blinding dazzling brilliance of Happy's courage. [break][break]

And that was game; poor Cassidy didn't stand a chance against the doubly super-effective DAZZLING GLEAM, and before those sharp white teeth could take a bite out of the Xatu, the Pangoro was sent tumbling to the ground. Eddie smiled a little to himself as he recalled his valiant fighter. Win or lose, his boys had given it their all, [break][break]

“Good game!” Eddie called with a wave as he walked toward Zachary's side of the field, “Man, you got some real neat tricks up your sleeve; I gotta start thinkin' more strategically.” [break][break]

Even if 'thinking' had never been his strong suit, he knew he'd have to try if he wanted to keep himself from getting stomped that badly in the future. When he drew near Zachary and his team, Eddie extended a hand and a wide smile, offering a congratulatory handshake to the victor of the match.

The last move was in instinct. It was in defense to his partner-- Zachary had not meant to make this a one-sided display but Happy's Dazzling Gleam was SUPER-EFFECTIVE. The result sent the giant dark panda flying and knocked out. [break][break] Zachary was stunned as he looked forward, seeing his two pokemon, also baffled. "I... I won?" Zachary asked. This was his FIRST WIN since the start of his journey. His first official win in a trainer battle and he couldn't believe it. All his practice, his study, his training with Happy and Prophet had paid off! [break][break] His shock of thought was interrupted by Edwardo coming over and congratulating him. Zachary blinked but extended a hand to shake the bigger man's, happy to accept it. "Um... thanks. You're pokemon were impressive too. I loved your Pangoro. If a bit scary. Sorry if Xatu's Miracle Eye threw a wrench into your work. As a psychic trainer, I have to prepare when I encounter Dark types like that," he replied shyly, rubbing the back of his neck in a modest gesture. [break][break] Dizzy gave a bark at Zachary, eagerly having the boy shape up and be more confident in himself in that moment. Accept the compliment! [break][break] Happy cheered as he danced around Zachary, happy too to have won--- while Prphet had once again fallen asleep, now snoozing away. [break][break] Zachary and the others looked at the Xatu with confusion and annoyance. "Oh, Prophet, what am I going to do with you?" Zachary commented as he took its Pokeball and returned the Xatu to rest inside it. [break][break]

Eddie laughed, loud and booming, and clapped a hand onto the younger man's shoulder, [break][break]

“You don't have to apologize for wipin' the floor with me!” he beamed, “Just means I gotta keep stuff like that in mind goin' forward, is all.” [break][break]

And it warmed his heart to see the jubilation of the team that had made the victory happen. A bark from the Delphox, the adorable Mime Jr., and the Xatu taking himself a well-earned nap. [break][break]

But, with that, the battle had concluded. It was probably time to get the team healed up before his next bout, [break][break]

“Thanks for the battle!” [break][break]

Eddie began to walk away with long strides, until he paused to call back over his shoulder, [break][break]

“You better keep it up, bud. I'll be comin' back for a rematch before ya know it!”
