[attr="class","giada i”]as they get a little further into the safari zone, her luxray begins to wander. her eyes drift to follow its path for a moment before refocusing on the path ahead.

it's only when the luxray returns that she realizes something's amiss.

"hey! no, drop it!"

the luxray growls lightly around the discolored fletchling in its maw and promptly drops the bird unceremoniously onto the ground. a sigh of relief escapes gia and she moves to attend to the fletchling, its distressed cries beginning to rise through the area. she softly shushes it and begins to gingerly scoop it up into her arms.

"there, there... you're okay."

it settles after a few more moments of crying and promptly falls asleep in her arms, safe from the luxray.

[attr="class","giada i”]the next clearing proves to be just as populated as the last, with a small group of mienfoo working on their training. one in particular catches her eye for it's off to the side, throwing punches at the lower half of a tree's trunk.

she stops for a moment to stare, taking in the oddity of its colors, before ushering her luxray along with a quick, "no, leave them." to the large cat.

the luxray, in turn, hisses slightly but obeys its trainer and follows her further down the beaten path instead.

[attr="class","giada i”]further down the path, they happen upon something rather... odd.

her eye widens for a moment, surprise etching itself into her features, before it smooths over into morbid curiosity. her intrusive thoughts push her forward, closer to the shiny hunk of metal on the floor.

"is this a... car part?"

upon brushing manicured fingers against smooth steel, the varoom awakens with a soft purring sound escaping its motor. she startles, retracting her hand as if burned.

the varoom, however, follows her hand as if looking to be pet more. she stares. is it... acting like a cat?

"you're an odd thing, aren't you?"

and just like that, she crouches down and begins to pet the cute varoom once more. its purring engine noises grow louder, easily lulled back into sleep. she takes it with her once she's certain it's fully asleep and happy being pet.

[attr="class","giada i”]a little further and her luxray is digging through foliage in search of something.

she stares, confusion knotting itself into her expression.

"what is it?"

the cat manages to pluck an odd colored lileep right from the ground, then, and she yelps. the lileep screeches slightly in its terror, the sound grating on the ears. she throws a pokeball at it just to shut it up before their ears bleed...

besides, it's better than her luxray succeeding in trying to puncture it into an early death, right?

[attr="class","giada i”]they're in the final stretch, she thinks. a little further and she'll hopefully be the mother to yet another cat.

the rustling of nearby bushes attracts her immediate attention, then, and her head whips toward the source of the sound...

only to find that it's not, in fact, a cat - it's a pichu, small and fearful. she has to will her expression to not fall to spare the poor thing's feelings.

and after petting it on the head for a few moments, she shuffles on ahead to find her litten.

[attr="class","giada i”]in the final clearing, just before the end, she finds her litten.

it's small, clearly the runt of the litter, and it sticks out like a sore thumb against the other five babies of the group. their mother seems to be missing at the moment, likely hunting food, and gia takes the opportunity to slowly approach.

and her litten - yes, it's already hers - locks eyes with her for a moment before stumbling away from its siblings to approach her. she can tell it's young by the little bumper car tail it has.

"ooooh, bitty baby!"

she reaches out a hand for the litten to sniff and once it begins rubbing its cheeks against the side of her hand, she's certain she has been accepted. she scoops the litten up, grinning wildly as it purrs softly against her chest, and all but runs out of the safari zone to head home with her brand new kitty.
