why the canary hall has to have a greenhouse, he cannot understand. what will he even do in here? tend to plants? it wasn't like he'll be staying here forever as he's only here until the entire event reaches its ending.

both his leafeon and his vaporeon walked beside him, just in case they were needed. he realizes that he may have been too into it when he decided to visit, or perhaps he was just bored that nothing interesting was happening that even something he was previously not interested in becomes something he's inquisitive about.

curiosity brings him within the greenhouse. he expected no one to be here when he entered, but to his surprise, someone else looked like they had spent time within the facility. he is taken aback by his expectations failing him, but recovers the next second.

"hello, hello," was his tired greeting.

The garden was something new to him. His mother had always said she wanted to pick it up but she had a black thumb so she always said she was doing the world a favor by watching it on TV instead. In his mind, you just needed the right Pokemon, but maybe that was naive thinking. After all, he'd never tried it himself. Until today. [break][break]

So there he stood, covered in dirt from head to toe, with an Ivysaur and an Oranguru by his side. He hadn't named either if only because he was too lazy to do so. As Ivysaur helped him pick weeds, Oranguru ate them, sitting beside Sam, looking like he was either contemplating something or enjoying the good weeds. [break][break]

A greeting caught Sam off guard, causing him to flinch as he looked over. He had just finished planting one of the flowers from the pallet beside him. He wiped his brow and gave a friendly wave, and tried a friendly smile, but he looked like he was pissy-smirking because he was hot and tired, but enjoying himself. [break][break]

"Sup. Didn't come to just reap what I've sown, have you?" [break][break]

Well that was judgmental of him but, hey. Sam's a bit of a dick sometimes. Can't be all cute and smiles-- [break][break]

"Oh cool, Leafeon. I haven't seen one of them in a long time." [break][break]

Sam's eyes catch the newcomer's Pokemon and he gives them a much warmer smile. He's better with pokes than he is with people, don't take it personally. [break][break]

delphi is hardly good with a garden. his fine results were simply the efforts of sprout. at first a sorrowful protector but having grown from such mistakes into one that kept the wild elsewhere. it was this very duty— which brought the pair here. the large hooded owl shuffling along uncertainly given the unusual surroundings. soon enough the pokemon would find itself appeased by the greenhouse. at least— delphi had hoped so. it was no fun if the other wasn't feeling so.[break][break]

voices were muffled but still a sign of company. he quickens his pace as sprout fumbles to keep close. an already bright expression practically dazzling with glee. "kyle! i didn't think you'd be here!" delphi practically tackles kyle lopez into a momentary hug. shifting a few paces to the front in a casual turn. "whose this? a friend of yours?" there was something familiar about the other. a slight sense that lessened that gleaming smile into one that was more curious. he tilted his head in wonder before offering a hand. "i'm delphi! have we met before?" eyes akin to the mossy shade around them, kept themselves upon samuel carter . awaiting an eventual reply.

"that's exactly what i'm here for," he responds. there was an evident change in demeanor when he inquired about his pokemon though. he points at his pokemon as he spoke. "he's for sale if you really want him."

a yowl of defiance comes from the leafeon, but kyle ignores it. it wasn't like he was actually serious about the offer he gave sam anyways.

he turns as he hears someone approaching. delphi immediately gives him a hug as he stumbles forward, stopping himself from falling by putting a foot forward. "i didn't either," he responds, trying to pry himself away from physical contact. "i expected you to be on the garnet side or something." he had no reasoning for it though.

he lets go of him soon, thankfully.

"no." he did not introduce himself when the rest of the house did, and so friend probably was not applicable. not that he cared since he doubted they'll meet again after the event. he turns to him, awaiting for him to answer delphi's question.

Damn was it a good thing Sam didn't have a button or shirt or something with 'eidetic memory' stapled across it, or else these two would know he was full of shit. They probably already did, because Sam wasn't a very good liar when he liked who he was lying to. Guilty soul to those he adores. [break][break]

Though honestly, he didn't know who Delphi had called Kyle, he figured perhaps he should be somewhat friendly. He was thankful he hadn't introduced himself previously to Delphi.[break][break]

"I'm Sam... I uh, don't know how you two feel about handshakes but." He shrugged at his own awkwardness in an attempt to make it go the fuck away while holding out his hand in a proper greeting.

delphi thought it interesting that the other regarded himself as a legendary. he blinks, curious, but his expression did not change. there was that natural urgency that itched at his lips. tempted to part as a series of words would pass into the opening. swarming the group in what would've been undeniable blabber. instead he lets samuel carter continue.[break][break]

"heh! well then, it's nice to meet you!" he reached towards the outstretched hand, taking it in a firm and slightly excessive rattle. thankfully for samuel carter the act hadn't lasted very long. he straightened his posture shortly after, stretching out his arms as though the work had already begun. or maybe it'd been preparation, the persistence of glee still dazzling in his eyes. [break][break]

"since we're all here, what are we doing again?" delphi passed a glance in the direction of kyle lopez . half—expecting a proper response but unknowingly playing the badger. "picking berries?" he chimed in for his own wonders, "they sure look tasty.. you think they'll let us have some?" inching towards the nearby foliage, small shades of such fruit dangled from every branch. his hand gradually reached towards the delight only to stop beneath the distant glare of sprout. it seemed the protector of berries would become a useful warning.

"i'm kyle," he introduces himself. he doesn't reach for his hand to shake it, however, since delphi already got dibs. besides, his introduction came just as the handshake happened.

there was an awkward tension between the two. kyle did not pry too much into it, preferring to just keep to himself as delphi chatted it up. his eyes linger to the plants being sown by sam earlier as they talked.

his attention goes back to the two once delphi addresses him. "i dunno. i'm just here cause i'm curious about what the place looks like to be honest." he joins delphi to the nearest berry patch, staring at the same one as him.

"can you eat it straight from the stem without using your hands?" he dares him.

Nice to meet him, huh? It was a good thing he didn't bring his tyrunt along. That would have blown his cover for damn sure.[break][break]

Sam's glad the attention is off of him and onto berries. Introductions can be so strange sometimes, and he's not sure how to handle more than one person at a time. Unless they're his friends, then it's easier. Why he can't think of strangers the same as friends is a mystery in and of itself.[break][break]

"I think you're supposed to wash them first, namely because of the different fertilizers people use to help berries grow. It can splash up or onto the fruit itself depending on how it's used."[break][break]

He knew a thing or two about gardening... sort of. Mostly he'd noticed that Oranguru had sniffed a berry, made a face, then rinsed it before eating it. It was then that Sam realized the fertilizer might've been the reason the wise monkey didn't want to just take a bite.

in spite of the glare that resonated from sprout, the challenge of kyle lopez disregarded that feeling. he rolled his sleeves up and stepped closer to the bunch. with one enthusiastic leap, he snagged the closest berry within his mouth. excitably munching into the apparent delight only for his features to writhe in disgust.[break][break]

samuel carter 's mention of fertilizer mid way into his forced chewing bring a hand to his quivering lips. surprisingly he manages to swallow the berry yet— not without that worry now plaguing his mind. "ugh.. i'm not going to die, am i? that was way worse than an aspear berry!" upon the sidelines, sprout merely rattled his head in disappointment. quietly wandering elsewhere. [break][break]

delphi approached a pair of woven baskets, tossing one in the direction of kyle lopez . although still afflicted by the bitter taste in his mouth, he was able to recover quickly. "well! lets get picking! i can't wait to get a taste of something... a bit sweeter!" curious eyes glance towards samuel carter , "hah! after we wash them of course!" he says in reference to the words from earlier.

kyle sees the basket approaching his face, but is too lazy to actually work, that it takes him a good while to decide whether he wants to actually work or not. it hits his face before he gets to decide, falling on the ground afterwards.

he turns to sam. "what kind of fertilizer is used on these anyways? the organic one or the chemical-ish kind?" either way, it did not bode well for delphi.

he picks up the basket on the ground and starts to follow delphi. his eyes linger on each berry, trying to identify them by memory. only the more common ones get recalled. there were some berries that seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite put a name on them.

"how do you even know which ones are sweet?" he asks delphi. eyes were looking for pecha berries, but he couldn't find any, mostly because he's too lazy to search beyond his proximity.
