some people just make it too easy.

it's like he wasn't even trying with that level of security. using the same password? for everything? he didn't even try to make it difficult with figuring out the casing. all lower-case, zero digits—his poochyena's name? that was the first question on most password reset verifications: what is your mother's maiden name? where was your hometown? what's your favorite color?

all things that are easy to answer if you had eyeballs. any social media presence was an invitation to pry, and being stood up on a date because you were "busy" when it took nearly two weeks to plan it in the first place?

yeah, sure.

he'd be busy as shit trying to figure out how to get all those fun videos off of his tablets and laptops. rainy'd even considered tapping into the guy's smart watch—a lame flex by the way—but the security on that was a little more complicated than he was willing to put in the effort for. a breezy thousand to compensate for his time wasted was more than enough. rainy whistles, tote bags swinging in arms as he thinks to the lovely dinner that he'd be enjoying tonight as thanks—his door is open.

he definitely locked it earlier.

the krabby's pincers reach up higher as he ties the straps of his bag together, swinging it around as the crustaceans yell in able protest as he steps through the threshold and sees nothing broken or turned over or absent. bag whirls around until it stops and he hears a weary krabbbyyyy from inside the plastic. no one's here.

Neon is relaxed, going through notes and observations on the UI inside his helmet in low light, darkness. The LED of his panel asleep and off for now as he awaited his target. The door creaks, and the pokemon groan, forsaken to the hot pot of death. But maybe, they'd be relived that Neon might relieve them from their delicious destiny. [break][break]

He clicked his teeth once, hiding it in the sounds of incoming steps. His pokemon is alert, brilliant red eyes flashing at the Beast in the darkness before the Luxray closed them again, waiting, smelling. It'd corner their target instantly. A hunter never forgot how to hunt after all. [break][break]

Neon stays put until Rainy happens upon their own set up. As his partner stalks to the front of the house, aorund the little hacker, Neon turns around, the panel of his helmet lightning up into a pixelated grin. He turns slowly in Rainy's designated desk chair, leaning back in well worn cushion. The light off his triple monitor set up only adding to the surrealness of another man that also preferred mono light set ups in blue. [break][break]

"rainy huynh . It's me, your personal HBIC agent!" he said, his screen reflecting a humorous, emoji like expression before Neon let out a laugh. Cacio, the Luxray stalking aorund, slams the front door shut and guards it. The wide grin drops into something more subtle. A thing, pixeled smile. [break][break]

"You've been harassing one of my guys." he states fact, not a question He knows they have. "For money? Fun?" he tilted his head to either way before pulling out a little usb drive from the top of his pc tower and tucking it away safely. [break][break]

The Krabby whine again and he glances over. "Oooh, brought me dinner did'ya?"

no sooner does he wander into his office does he find his place's newest occupant.

would be that the ad went unanswered for all this time only for it to be answered by some fuckin' loser with enough sense to not show their face. he tries to not let his eyes wander down toward the luxray that stalks his every breath and step and tries even harder to not notice how clammy his hands suddenly feel. it's nerves, and rainy's got plenty of them even when he thinks he shouldn't be nervous. his teeth still set uncomfortably in his jaw as his eyes turn skittish. evasive, even as his brain works overtime to try and keep them from it.

what comes out of his mouth is decidedly less cautious than everything else about him.

small shoulders are sharp, accentuated only by the rigid way that rainy moves next. "ain't no way that hbic gives a shit about me." he retorts, but the would-be breaker inner of his house charges on undeterred. the luxray doesn't corner him, at least. doesn't change that it doesn't make it any easier for him to run. "harassing?"

his voice turns audacious, bold. rainy smiles wryly, as though he'd been put upon instead.

"means one of your guys had to be a shithead for me to have done something!" he shrugs, and the bag rustles again. "not that i did." he glances, only when the masked stranger moves to remove a usb. he digs deeper into his memory to try and remember if there'd been anything other than basic data files on this computer. then again, it would've been pretty funny for this so-and-so to leave with nothing but a hard drive full of risqué videos he'd taken with a few anonymous encounters.

at the mention of dinner, he glances down and shrugs.

technically, it'd been for him.

but, technically, the guy could probably have his luxray bite and maim him. not mutually exclusive things. "yeah, sure. your little buddy here want some too?"

"Maybe no HBIC, but I do." he said still grinning as he chilled in the stranger's computer chair. "Mmmm, I don't really give a fuck what he did to you." he said with a laugh. "I'm mainly interested in what you've may or may not have been doing to him and how." The dumbass has only come clean after admitting to having used his own devices during a few jobs. [break][break]

Neon wouldn't say he didn't understand the whole hacking thing, but he didn't. But he understood the power of it, and as such was interested on the breadth of skills this guy had at his disposal. Could be beneficial for future Rocket projects. [break][break]

The Luxray doesn't budge but Neon does. "Yeah he's pretty starved, but he's kinda picky too. He's been demanding fresh meat recently." he said as he stood up, waiting to follow his host to the kitchen.

cool. so, not a cop.

just a different problem then. as if that made it any better, he thinks. he drops the bag of krabby onto the counter as his would-be assailant follows closely. he retrieves a cutting board, a knife and nudges the bag until the rest of his groceries—not alive, these ones—to spill out onto the counter. "is that rhetorical?" scccrape! and his knife glides against a whetstone, rainy watching with bland disinterest as the stranger approaches along with his electric hound of death.

how original. as if he hasn't heard that he was going to get all gobbled up by some angry ass pokemon before. you didn't exactly grow up the way he did without having a few schoolyard bullies here and there. or. well. you know. all the time. the smell of onions and ginger filters through the air and rainy peeks at his intruder from the corner of his eye. some big, stupid looking mask, but it covers all of his head. was it specialty? seemed like the kind of thing that had to get fitted right.

maybe he should invest in one himself.

"It's not a threat." he said, already floating over near the kitchen to watch while Cacio moves to watch the front door. He smiles at how easy it is to get the punk top make him dinner. He doesn't worry about poisons or anything of the like, continuing on with the usual. This was a job offer after all. [break][break]

"Look, I got work for you. You've got an interest and I need someone to get me in somewhere a little more secure." he said. "You look like you need the money and my company can set up a sick paycheck. I just think....we need a little work in the IT department." he gestures before backing up for a bit. [break][break]

"Anyways, what do you actually do, help desk? I think you'd be better off stretching every little neuron in that noggin' of yours." he said. "Any case, benefits are solid, starting pay is competitive, and the networking we have is pretty solid." He waits to see what they think so far. After all, he had broken in. It was unconventional but...well now he was known, and now he wanted him.
