This scene in particular is one she hasn't seen. "Paradox pokemon are quite a hit with our colleagues," she comments with amusement as they stand side by side. The iron treads are not a very desirable pokemon to her, but all of the paradoxes seem to offer good combat value. "I prefer the ultra beasts." Her Xurkitree was a great companion. [break][break]

She didn't study behaviorism, but the paradox pokemon in particular would be an interesting group to study. "What do you make of this path in the simulation?"

Hawkins' interpretation was interesting. So far, she had visited the simulations with fellow scientists of the opinion that the simulation taught them something about the multiverse. That the Triad had some hand in it and there was some way to extract intel about them through visiting the simulation. That the simulation held secrets they were still discovering, so the creators of it knew something the rest of the world did not. The green masked pokemon in the simulation that wasn't seen until the Penitentiary, for one.[break][break]

"Meaningless in the sense that we cannot change the simulation? Or in a broader sense?" [break][break]

The world blended into another scenario.

“Hoenn Rocket has six filled filing cabinets of RKS reports. Progress has been minimal. Progress is made when greater forces decide, not us.[break][break]

"Deriving meaning from the scenarios is futile, because we cannot trust if the simulation is truthful or follows the thread of our world. Not so dissimilar from your dreams work.”[break][break]

He stands by the figure of the long-lorded Silph, gazing at the wish tag in his fingers.[break][break]

“Deriving meaning from one’s personal choices is non-productive, because we cannot change the outcome.”[break][break]

He takes the tag from Fernando’s fingers. Because one side has to, and the other side has no choice.[break][break]

“Then we must derive meaning from its metadata. But our only options are brute force and endless repetition.”

Progress came from forces outside of their control... He seemed to be right. She was no expert on the simulation, but those she had spoken with had seemed weary of their visits of the simulation and had implied DRK control of it to be absolute. [break][break]

Whatever that looked like, in full, she couldn't say. [break][break]

"I feel the simulation could not exist for no reason. If there is a common theme among these simulations or some detail we are failing to pick up on, it could indicate the purpose of the simulation. The reason we have access to it so readily." She couldn't agree that it was futile. Nihilism wasn't a terrible philosophy, but as a scientist, she could not apply it here. [break][break]

She watched the Wish Tag in his hands, wondering if she could ever see it for herself in real life and if it would really work at all. For all the problems and inconveniences of the simulation, she felt there was value in exploring it on the off-chance she could make a major breakthrough. Perhaps, he valued other scientific projects in Rocket. There were countless projects. "What would you rather be focusing your attention on?"
