Carrying the injured is a lot easier when you have pokemon that can be used in the strangest of ways. A ranger carefully laid upon a bed of liquid metal and hauled in by a girl and Luxray wrapped in copious amounts of bandages themselves. It's a curious sight for those who are new to this tent. But at this point, given how closely she works with Hideo Kino, most of the staff here don't exactly bat an eye at the sight of her running about the battlefield.[break][break]

Now, the injuries this man faces isn't exactly 'bleed your guts out' or 'snap your spin' kind of life-threatening, but they sure are painful enough to elicit groans from him. And though Chloris is helping to numb some of that pain, Eris isn't quite comfortable with letting this poor guy suffer for much longer.[break][break]

"'Fraid not, but I'll take a quick look anyway."

A hat (another, really) was dropped atop Eris head, briefly falling over her eyes as a man stepped into the tent after her, drawing audible sighs of relief from the other medical personnel.

"Chin up, luv. The cavalry's here." He said as he ruffled Eris hair, grinning at her as he knelt besides the injured man, turning his gaze to him.

"Good day, corporal. Well done stayin' alive out there! Let's get'cha back on yer feet and on yer way home. Ya look like you've serviced enough today." His hand glowed a soft magenta as he slowly dragged held it over the soldier like a scanner, scales drifting down and melting into his body, past the fabric of his clothes and bandages.

"This'll hurt a lil. Apologies."

Pop went his jaw as the doctor reset it. It probably hurt a lot— but at least he wouldn't need to worry about rehab.

He moved to work on the arms, then the ribs next— it was a swift process by any medical standard, specially by 'broken bones' standards.

"Are you or your friends injured, Eris?" The man asked as he worked, his eyes nailed to the patient.

With two hands barely plucking the hat from her head, she has no time to defend herself from the assault on her hair.[break][break]

Crack. The girl flinches and winces at the sound, averting her gaze as the man groans a hearty swear.[break][break]

"No..." Her voice is tad bit softer, then grows in volume as she takes a breath. "We didn't get into any fights."[break][break]

And this time, Reiner grunts light in agreement, a small glimmer of perhaps, pride in his eyes.[break][break]

"We've just been evacuating the injured as best as we could."

He smiled. "Hooo... Real glad to hear that."

Always nice to see the kids being kind.

And not getting into fights with war criminals.

"Let me know if you feel any more pain or odd sensations, sir." He said as he finished his work on the injured soldier, looking over him one last time. "Rest for a few more minutes; then I'll send ya home with the latest batch. Ok?"

Rising back to his feet, he turned to Eris, reaching out to pat her head.

"Good job out'ere, Eris." He said with a grin, scanning her for bruises or awkward postures. "These guys may've not made it back home without'cha.

Seemed like he would need to step back into the open field soon.

"How're ya feelin' right now?" He asked. "Need a rest?"

[attr="class","eris109"]It's a good thing that Doug is well-versed in fixing people up. Under most circumstances, she could never really stomach hearing the crack of someone's bones under her own two hands.[break][break]

Another pat on the head. This time, she's prepared to bat him away should he decide to mess with her hair once more. But instead, he's looking over her, and she follows his gaze with her mismatched eyes. Under the sheer amount of bandages used to cover her newest burns, there really isn't any way of telling whether she's gotten new bruises. And her posture is about as normal as it can be. Perhaps, only a little slumped as the effort of hauling people quickly away from battles begins to set in.[break][break]

"Nuh." She really should, but the thought of losing more people out there makes her unable to simply stop and rest. "I can go a while more."

He stares at her, gaze unreadable.

Bandages upon bandages masking scars upon scars.

There was a temptation to just... deal with it, for real this time. Make it all go away, whatever Eris protests were. The fine line between respecting a child's agency and indulging in their self-destructive behavior always seemed to get finer and thinner around his little friend.

Finally, he turned his gaze away with a deep breath.

"Ya shouldn't. Yer body's still recoverin'." He said simply. "As is Reiner's."

Injuries would never heal if one never gave themselves a chance to truly rest. One look at Eris could've made that clear to anyone.

"I worry a lot 'bout ya kids." He said as he approached another nearby soldier on a cot, beginning to work on him. "But you specially, Eris."

No if's or but's. It is a collective agreement between all three pokemon as they each chatter at her. So she relents for now, a slight frown on her face as she hovers behind the man.[break][break]

"Can you heal Reiner?"[break][break]

She knows her stubbornness to be somewhat of an issue, her refusal to get her injuries looked over often giving Doug somewhat of a headache. Yet, when it comes to Reiner, she does not shrink away from the chance to make things better.[break][break]

"He acts tough, but I can tell his chest hurts whenever he has to move faster than a walk."[break][break]

Narrowed eyes directed towards her, the Luxray grunts as if attempting to rebuke her.

Relief settled in him, briefly, as she seemed to relent. It was never enough, but these sorts of small victories were all that kept him from strapping Eris down to a hospital bed.

At her question, he smiled.

"'course." He said, finishing up quickly with the soldier before him before rising to his full height, turning towards Eris and Reiner. "There's very little I can't heal out there. Remember that, 'kay?"

As long as the patient hadn't been dead on arrival for a while when they got to him, he could do something about it, in his experience.

He turned his to Reiner, lingering.

"Reiner. Eris won't feel fine 'till yer healed. " He said simply. "Why don't ya settle in that bed right there? I'll get right to it."

Stink eye shot back, Reiner huffs and stalks over to the bed, settling down with a rather spiteful 'plop' and almost immediately regretting it, judging by his wince.[break][break]

"I told you."[break][break]

He snaps his teeth back in response.

He grabbed at Eris' hat, casually pushing it down over her eyes.

"Behave, ya two." He said with an eye roll and a grin, rolling back his sleeves as he approached the bed Reiner had chosen.

"Awright, let's see the damage in full, Reiner." He said. "Come on now, no hiding. Just roll over and show me yer belly— I don't bite. Not harder than you and Eris, anyway."

[attr="class","eris109"]Their staring contest seems to be at the very climax when suddenly, the world goes dark.[break][break]

"Doug!" Even though she is blinded by the hat, there's no way that she misses the bark of laughter. And she fumes, one hand quickly reaching to right the cap while the other swings to punch the man lightly in the arm.[break][break]

As for Reiner, there is a moment where he turns his stare onto Doug. Not because the man has helped defeat one of his greatest enemies, but rather because of his request. In an instant, his snout wrinkles and his lips curl to reveal the tip of his canines, his tail sweeping across the edges of the bed in slow, methodical flicks.[break][break]

"Well, the injury is... you can't really see it through the bandages but it's kinda like..." A hand pointing to the right side of her chest, then the other pointing to the left. "The nurses told me they patched him up but he's not supposed to run around a lot or fight."

He sighs, rubbing his temples as he purses his lips at the Luxray. Reiner was just as much of a handful as Eris— that one, very powerful braincell they shared really was doing a lot of heavy lifting.

"It sounds a very severe injury." He says simply, patting Eris' head as he turned to her. "So I'd like to get a good look at it before I start treatment, just in case."

There was no reason to get complacent with medical treatment, specially for close friends.

"Help me out, Eris— maybe he'll calm down if you do this step instead o'me." He said. "We gotta get the bandages off him first."

Then, after treatment, depending on how it went, they may or may not reapply new ones.

[attr="class","eris109"]"It..." Is? Was? There is more to this than the frown on her face, ginger steps taken towards the Luxray before she begins carefully unravelling the bandage folds. "When it happened, I thought..."[break][break]

Though disgruntled by the need to stand back up to remove the bandages, it all seems to melt away as Reiner listens to her speak and feels her hands brushing against his fur. Bit by bit, falling to the ground, until her fingers graze bare skin and thread. And she stops, as if fearing that movement would cause those stitches to come undone.[break][break]

"I was scared."
