"FIGHT ME--" a shriek fills the air, as did the crackle of sparks flying off the rodent's cheek patches. [break][break]

She was left here, at the daycare, for one reason or another. Why her trainer decided to leave her here was beyond her, but when she came to she was surrounded by a bunch of pokemon. Big pokemon, small pokemon; there were all sorts. This, by extension, meant that there were gonna be a lot of pokemon she could battle! Certainly, if she beat a ton in here, it means that she'd be able to impress her trainer, wouldn't she? Maybe then she could evolve, and beat that giant chicken nugget to the pulp! Then- Then.. She'd be the main pokemon, right? If she could prove to be strong enough, then her trainer would definitely - most definitely - have to look her way![break][break]

Flimsy reasoning, but that also explained why the Pikachu seemed to full of herself. Unfortunately, it didn't look as though there were any pokemon willing to fight her, in spite of her taunts and yelling. What was she missing? Why wasn't anyone fighting her?! The pikachu pondered - maybe they thought they were too good for her? Yeah! They must have thought that they were WAY stronger than her, so they didn't need to bat an eye! How dare they?![break][break]

"How about this?!" The pikachu yelps and starts to dash - only to attempt to crash into another pokemon with slam.

The Scyther left in their care was simply grazing about in the fresh air when it was rudely tackled by a rogue Pikachu. Being pushed to the ground and laying face first in the dirt, he was quick to use his wings to get himself upright.

“What was that for?!” It questions the Pikachu rather angrily, bearing it's blades-for-arms at the cheeky little vermin who thought it wise to get attention by picking a fight. “You want to become pika-kebab, is that it?!” Making good on it's threat, the Scyther prepared for a battle with swords dance just in case.

More sparks begin to crackle off the Pikachu's cheeks, just as she bounced off the scyther's side with a soft squeak. Her ears twitched a few times-- Excuse her? Did he just challenge her? Did he just say that, thinking her could beat her? It was a challenge, right? Of course it was! So it, undoubtedly, was only proper to accept, right? Nevermind the fact that she thought it was smart to go attacking random pokemon around the daycare. [break][break]

"I'd like to see you try, big shot!" the pikachu huffs, going onto all fours and lightly stomping the ground with her back leg. Her fur begins to bristle softly, charging up for a thunderbolt. "You're going DOWN!"

“Think again!” Witnessing the telltale sparks building up along the Pikachu's rose cheeks, the Scyther did not hesitate to make the first move with a sudden quick attack. Having bolstered it's power with the prior swords dance, it was fairly confident that the blow would not be shaken off so easily...

However, that didn't speak for the electricity to come, which Scyther was quite wary of. He was weak to such attacks, after all, meaning his adversary had the advantage, for what it was worth.

"YOU'RE GOING D-AHHHHH--" she was about to scream again, until she was cut off by the sudden hit from quick attack. the scyther had turned into a blur, and it hit harder since he decided to buff himself up, earlier. Any sane pokemon would have apologized for suddenly tackling, if not cowered in fear. Or, they would have seen this as a challenge and squared up to properly fight. This pikachu, on the other hand.. [break][break]

Was he TRYING to flaunt how strong he was? Oh, oh, maybe he just wasn't STRONG enough without the buff so he relied on that? Well, TWO could play it that way! She closed her hands into a fist before planting her arms and legs into the ground, immediately following up with double team to create multiple copies of herself across the field around the bug pokemon. "YOU HIT SOFTER THAN MY MOM!" the pokemon yells again. Her comebacks were great. The best. He WOULDN'T be able to respond to THAT. [break][break]

Observing the Pikachu as it went about...whatever one would call this behavior, Scyther recognized the move double team and decided to show that it too could perform such a feat. He just hoped that this would shut them up... “You were saying?” The Scyther spoke casually, waiting for the Pikachu to make it's move.

“We're going to get in trouble for this, by the way.” Of course, that was just an assumption the Scyther made. But it wouldn't be very surprising if the daycare did have the means to penalize pokemon that misbehaved...

The scyther was able to showcase the exact same move which, most likely, had the pikachu pop a vein. "That's not fair!" She whines, unlike her other copies. "You're not supposed to just-- just--.. COPY my moves like that!" she says, not realizing that she gave away her position. When it all sinks in that the eyes were on her, she pauses, processes, and softly wheezes between those tiny pika lips of hers. "... Aw shinx--" She goes, taking a deep breath. [break][break]

That was on her, but she wasn't gonna ADMIT it. It was HER time to shine, and she wasn't gonna let this.. This BUG take that away from her! Once again, her cheeks begin to crackle, until she puffs out her chest while standing on her two back feet. "FINE! TAKE THIS ON FOR SIZE--" she says, ignoring whatever this bug (because that's what he is; a BUG. HE DOESN'T DEERVE TO BE LISTENED TO) had to say before letting out a nasty thunderbolt into the air. It was numerous zaps, while attempting to hit the right one. Unfortunately, she..kept missing, and missing. Then missing again. Needless to say, she was going to make a mess of the place.

If it had the pores to do so, Scyther would be sweating bullets from his forehead at the reckless mayhem that Pikachu unleashed upon them. Pieces of the ground were burned and blasted away, and every one made it feel one step closer to the end. But, as it turned out, he was...fine?

“Wait...really?” The Scyther peered around, noticing what was practically a circle around them where the Pikachu's electricity had struck. He couldn't help but let out a small laugh at how fortunate he was to be completely intact.

“You... Have you actually done this before? If I didn't know better...” Contemplating the odds, it felt like this Pikachu had never been in a battle before. Could it be that this was the reason it seemed so eager to prove itself against the rest of the daycare's occupants?

Was he laughing? LAUGHING? LAUGHING AT HER, OF ALL POKEMON?! Oh, oh he was going to get it! He was so, totally, going to get it! Whereas the pikachu's attacks were strong in of themselves, she had zero direction or strategy to concentrate it into. For the moment, she was aimlessly shooting out thunderbolts in hopes that it would hit the damn bug. But what did she end up doing? Putting a smile on the cursed pokemon's face! He was looking down on her, she knew it! [break][break]

"Wh-What do you mean REALLY?!" she hisses, electricity sparking from her cheek pouches. "I'll have you know I'm strong! Really, really strong! W-way stronger than Nugget!" her brows furrow, before she pouts and quietly sulks at her own incompetence. All she wanted was to land a hit or, at the very least, prove that she could properly fight in a battle! She was already plenty strong! Which is precisely why she got so irritated at his question - or, rather, his assumption. [break][break]

"I've battled before!" She lashes, fur bristling and ears pinning back. "I-I just.. haven't battled without my trainer" or her blaziken "but I'm plenty strong enough!" she squeaks, getting back onto all fours. "D-Don't laugh at me! I'm gonna fry you to BITS!" So she says, releasing yet another thunderbolt upon establishing the scyther's location.

While he didn't even laugh that hard, it seemed as though the Pikachu couldn't take more offense to the gesture. Uncertain of how to feel, Scyther remained put and ultimately paid the price for it when one of the bolts of lightning finally made it to him.

The intensity was there, practically charring the tip of his wing where it first connected. Unable to stop himself from letting out a pained yell, the Scyther was down on it's knees and struggling to get back up.

“Is that...what this is about? Your rivalry with, eh...Nugget?” Considering the distance they were going to try and get some validation, it was definitely worth considering. Scyther was sorry that it felt that way, and presumed that being left here without their trainer made them feel a bit...insecure?

... He wasn't fighting back. Why wasn't he fighting back? [break][break]

She was just about ready to let out another thunderbolt to show him who's boss, until she noticed that he wasn't readying any sort of attack. Heck, he didn't even look like he was gonna try to defend himself at all. The pikachu grit her teeth together, pensively staring towards the bug pokemon before ultimately easing back into her back two feet. Her ears tilt in different angles while she lets out a sigh. "Dude.. Fight back if I attack you.." she grumbles, bringing a paw up to gently rub at the base of her ears. [break][break]

It was one thing to fight someone, and it was another to fight someone who wouldn't fight back. The latter made her feel like a jerk. [break][break]

The crackling of electricity settled, for the most part, as she pouts and sits herself down against the grass. "Yeah, Nugget. My trainer's Blaziken." She sulks, narrowing her eyes. "... He's her favourite, and it has to be because he's strong, right? So if I become strong too, she'll like me more, and then-- and then--" the pikachu slumps a bit in her posture "Th-Then I can be more useful a-and I won't be a burden to her.."

“You sure that's it?” Scyther questioned, feeling genuinely concerned for the Pikachu's feelings on the matter. “You think you're a burden because you're not stronger?”

Managing to get back up into a standing position, Scyther rubbed the back of it's head in wonder... Was their trainer aware of all this pent-up tension? Was that maybe why...they left the Pikachu here in the daycare?

“Don't get me wrong, being strong is good and all, but... Life isn't all about our battles.” Trying to calm the Pikachu down, the priority here was to stop'em from firing off more electric attacks his way. But if Scyther could help the Pikachu get a hold of itself, then it was worth a try...

“Humor me, will you? If you became as strong as you'd like to be, what would you do with that kind of power?”

She sulks. [break][break]

Not because he didn't understand, but because she knew he was right. She felt dumb and foolish, trying to act all tough and scary without her trainer around. To begin with, she was one of the few, smaller pokemon who were scared that they were being left there, and never taken out again (she saw what it did to the abundance of ditto who, for whatever reason, got dropped off at the daycare). The pikachu began to kick her feet against the ground, narrowing her eyes. [break][break]

It was a horrible thought much as it was terrifying, for her trainer to not want her anymore. "I-I know..! B-But.. But.." She starts, beginning to tear up before slumping onto the ground to sit and cry like the little, emotionally unstable baby she was. "I-If I became strong, then I could protect my trainer! B-Because sh-she's nice to me, and she takes care of me! B-But she never take me into battle, b-because she doesn't want me to get hurt.." So the pikachu says, sniffling slightly between words. [break][break]

"A-And if I can't help, then I'm a burden, right?!" the little thing begins to cry some, even more so at the irrational thought of being abandoned.

“Maybe you do need to get stronger...or maybe not. I can't be the judge of that.” The Scyther lets out a deep sigh, reluctant to deal with the crying Pikachu. Yet feeling partially to blame, the Scyther gets up and moves to the Pikachu's side, plopping down next to it and using the side of it's bladed arm to pat their head.

“Use your time in here to reflect on it some. Just don't expect to become the strongest pokemon overnight. It takes time and a lot of work to push one's boundaries. Sometimes it's easier to settle for second.” Withdrawing it's touch, the same arm raised to meet Scyther's chin as it continued thinking on ways to distract the Pikachu from it's crying.

“Some trainers capture pokemon because they're cute. Others because they think we look cool, or tough. But we're all captured for a reason... So try to find your reason. And if that's not enough, try and give your trainer more reasons why they should choose you.”

Another deep sigh escaped him, the Scyther running out of both words and patience. He just wanted to sit back and relax, maybe get a good tan in...

“Maybe you should try learning how to escape your pokeball. It's not impossible...maybe your electricity will work. Once you get that far, how would your trainer be able to stop you from showing just how strong you are? How valuable of an addition you are to their team? There's always a way if you're willing to go the length.”

Or, rather, let everything he just said fly over her head and focus on that last part. Breaking out of the pokeball sounded like a great idea! The Pikachu immediately stands up, proud smile on her face while throwing her arms up "That's it!" she exclaims, perking up with a grin on her face. "You're a genius! I just need to break out of the pokeball!" Then nothing could stop her! Which is.. Exactly what the scyther just said. She was a genius!-- ahem. But he helped, too. [break][break]

There was no way the Pikachu was gonna admit that she got help. That'd be way too embarrassing, wouldn't it? And it wouldn't it her, who was trying to get stronger! [break][break]

But that isn't to say the bug pokemon's words wouldn't sink in the future. After all, she was still a relatively immature Pikachu. The pokemon, however, was about to open her mouth to let out another obnoxious shout - until the voice of the daycare couple came from the halls to call her. Her ears perk up, seeing a pinkette walk into the room with a soft smile on her face. Maple's tail perks up, and the Pikachu gets onto all fours with the intention to run over to the trainer. But not without turning a bit to face the scyther. [break][break]

"I--" she starts. she narrows her eyes slightly to the side, more so in an attempt to hide the rose red that came to her cheeks "... Th-Thanks for the advice, too. And I'm.. sorry for suddenly attacking you.."
