a new year brings new expectations. civil unrest starts to manifest in the form of online criticisms that spike after the three day war. now that the region no longer has to face the threat of megalopolans, the people of hoenn turn to address smaller and more personal issues. will the league rise up to the situation? what about questionable events that have transpired, overshadowed and overlooked in the face of more imminent issues?
after the ultra beast war, hoenn begins to heal. the megalopolan invasion may have failed; however, it is clear there is much more at stake. a prophecy revolving around a cyclical meteoroid, the appearance of necrozma and a dangerous and viral alien threaten the safety of the region once more.
with rocket's new boss, the resurgence and reappearance of the crime syndicate's presence is imminent. the league has done its best to repair its reputation, and with the victory of a war under their belt, perhaps it is enough. but the seeds of distrust have already been sown in the ravaged land of this region, causing many to wonder what will grow?
They've been walking a while, and between the adrenaline-fueled dash through the forest and the exhausting trek through the swamp that had started their little misadventure, Orion's starting to tire. He doubles back on the path toward the exit, groans a little when that path gives way to mud once more.
He needs a breather before he goes through that again, and sits down on a log to rest.
A Mudkip pops out one end of the log, startled, and it nearly gives Orion a heart attack as well. He startles in alarm, then laughs, but becomes a little worried when the Mudkip looks... angry? He thinks that expression is anger. It's a bit hard to tell, he's never owned a Mudkip before, and—
Orion yelps and dives to the side as the little shit throws a rock at him. It follows up with a small avalanche of ice, and OK, this was not going to be an easy situation to escape. Katas has his back, detecting the attack and knocking the Mudkip off-balance with a quick attack so that the move wouldn't hit Orion. As the ranger recovers from the surprise of a Pokemon attacking him, he tightens his grip on the final safari ball.
"Katas, soften it up, would you?"
The Absol's claws pulse with threatening darkness as he circles around his prey, forcing the little amphibian to focus its attention on him. His first slash is blocked by a quick protect from the Mudkip, but Katas then knew what to expect. Feinting right, he leaps left and rakes his claws across the water-type with a night slash. Orion winces a little — that had looked like it hurt — and then taps the Mudkip with the Pokeball.
"Sorry little guy. I'll have to take you to a Center when we're out of here."
Which would be soon, seeing as he would be out of balls whether the capture succeeded or not.
