”I figured you had that covered seeing how you were frolicking with them. But you’re right! How silly of me!” Samuel began, his focus not moving from what he was doing.

”I should have been like you and spent all my time hugging them to make sure they’re safe and sound.” He laughed, getting up from the ground. Samuel would then look over to the Bird Pokémon that was keeping an ever so vigilant eye on the surrounding area.

The Pokémon nodded which meant everything was fine, for now at least. This is exactly the response that Sam expected to get from the bird.

Who in the world would attack in the middle of broad daylight anyhow? You had to either be a complete idiot or extremely bold to pull a stunt like that off. Now if they were out here in the dark then Sam might have considered being a bit more proactive in their job but for now, he’d just enjoy how wonderful the weather was today and get this easy paycheck.

”Horus says everything is fine so everything is fine!” He’d wave away the girl’s worry. ”This your first time working with Wooloo, isn't it?”

Samuel chuckled at the girl’s antics. She most certainly had a lot of energy as expected of someone her age and it was quite entertaining. ”My name is Samuel, not ‘Mister Guy’.” He responded, walking over to one of the Wooloo and petting the fluffy creature.

”If you think this is nice image wearing something made from their fleece. It’s simply wonderful!” As he spoke he fed the Sheep Pokémon treats he had.

”And just in case you’re wondering it doesn’t hurt them in fact they need to get shorn or else their coats get too big and they can’t walk.” In the corner of his eye he could spot Horus, and something was a bit off about the bird. The Pidgeot looked as if it trying hard to focus on something. Unbeknownst to those below a Thievul was sneaking about, trying to find its way in to snatch itself a meal.

”Well it’s very nice to meet you Annie.”

Samuel could only half pay attention to the young girl’s words as his mind was too preoccupied on this feeling of danger that was coming over him. His Pidgeot was becoming more agitated and even some of the Wooloo in the pen were acting strange.

The straw that broke the Camerupt’s back was when Regulus who had been resting this entire time poked his head as if he heard something. Looking through the sea of Wooloo Samuel could barely spot a shadow moving amidst the sheep. The silent tension in the air was cut as Horus took off from his porch, landing near the herd in almost a blink of an eye.

This sent some of the Wooloo flying as a powerful gust of wind shot from the epicenter, a result of the bird Pokémon’s powerful wings. It was more than enough for Samuel and his little friend here to feel the force. Horus had pinned down the shadow that was creeping towards the Wooloo revealing it to be a Thievul that was looking to make a snack out of the poor sheep.

Unfortunately that had not been the only one, another of the sly devils was about to make off with a Wooloo if it hadn’t been for Regulus who had caught the thief before it could seep its fangs into the Wooloo.

During all of this the Wooloo only naturally began to freak out, running about the pen in terror. ”Help me calm them down and gather them up.” While he said that he didn’t go straight to it, he had to deal with two thieves.

”Now, now! Whatever shall we do with you two?” A wicked smile growing on his face as he stared down at the two Thievul his Pokémon had caught.

”They’re called Thievul.” Samuel explained, still staring down at the two dark type Pokémon.

”They’re shifty little criminals who are notorious for causing all sorts of mischief. They really like to sneak into places and steal whatever they can get the mitts on or in our case make way with some tasty Wooloo snacks. They’re originally from Galar.”

What Annie suggested doing with them was probably the easiest way of handling the situation but before he did that there was still something on his mind. Samuel looked around, took note of the barn, the Wooloo, little Miss Annie and then back to the two Thievul.

”Something doesn’t seem right.” He looked back to the Wooloo and started counting them. ”A Wooloo is missing.” Now this was just fantastic. ”Get rid of these two.” Samuel waved his hand which was enough of a signal for his Pokémon to take action.

With his powerful talons, the large Pidgeot grabbed hold of the two Thievul and flew off to drop them off somewhere a good distance away.

”Regulus, with me.” The two began to walk away before Samuel turned his head to look to Annie. ”Regulus will be able to track the third one down but just in case another one shows up you stay here.” It couldn’t have gotten too far.

Samuel had a suspicion that the Pokémon might be hiding out inside the barn.

From the looks of it something forced its way into the barn, basically confirming Samuel’s suspicion. Based on what he knew there wasn’t any other way to get in or out so the Thievul had cornered itself. Most would think of that as a good thing but Samuel knew better as whenever someone is cornered, especially one that is most certainly in over their head and must be panicking at this point, that is when they become their most dangerous. Samuel was more than experienced dealing with this situation, with cornered rats. Flushing them out was always a fun time.

The duo stepped into the dimly lit barn, the scene of a struggle the first sight to greet them. ”Wait here.” Samuel ordered, his Pokémon not having the best reaction to said command but listened nonetheless. This was risky, going it alone, but that’s exactly what Samuel wanted.

He’d search for the Wooloo alone in an attempt to have Thievul hop out of where it’s hiding and attack him. And it didn’t take long to find the lost Wooloo and more importantly, the Pokémon wasn’t injured severely. A bit roughed up and terrified but other than that it was fine.

The Thievul was nowhere in sight, clearly hiding to either surprise attack or sneak away. ”No need to be scared anymore, I’m here to get you out safely.” Samuel went to comfort the Wooloo in order to calm it down but couldn’t help but notice it was staring so intensely at something behind Samuel. The Thievul was behind the man and having waited for the opportune moment decided to strike.

But much to its misfortune Regulus had been watching this entire time and managed to intercept the dark type. ”Good job.” The blonde smiled. Samuel then escorted the Wooloo out of the barn and rejoined with the others.

”So I take it everything went fine here.” He’d ask Annie.

Samuel smiled when he noticed, thinking to himself that the girl could be reliable after all. He was glad he didn’t come back to a complete mess. Soon after his Pidgeot arrived, which Samuel then gestured to the Thievul that were still around.

”Got more for you to relocate.” He’d point to them and Horus got to work. ”You did good.” Samuel smiled to Annie has he did one last check up on all the Wooloo, making sure they were all in relatively fine condition and tending to those who needed some extra attention, they had quite the day.

Speaking of having quite the day, it would seem that Samuel’s and Annie’s would be coming to a close as well. Their shifts were about over now and Samuel had a lot to report to the owners concerning what happened here. ”Looks like we’re about done for the day.” He began.

”Not sure about you but I’ve had my fair share of Thievul for a while!” He laughed. ”But it was nice meeting you kid. You ever need help with something give me a call, think of it has thanks for helping me out.” Samuel would hand the girl a business card.

The man was a teacher and he could tell a troubled kid just by looking at them. And there was something about her that reminded him of himself. ”I'll take care of everything else so you can head home. Catch you around.” He’d walk off and give her a wave.
