It was too cold in Fortree, apparently, so it was time to head on down somewhere warmer. What she was not expecting, however, was to be dropped off at a place where there were so many other Pokémon—and none of them were the familiar faces of the Flying-types she was so used to seeing![break][break]

Where was he leaving her, what was this place?![break][break]

The one good thing about this was the fact that it was indeed much warmer than it was in Fortree, and since Dragon-types didn’t tend to do well in the cold, it was agreed upon that she would spend a few days here. What she was not expecting was that everyone would be giving her such a wide berth because of what she was.[break][break]

A Dratini.[break][break]

One of the so-called ‘pseudo-legendaries’.[break][break]

Why were all the other Pokémon afraid of her? She hadn’t even done anything to anyone yet and yet here they were, judging her![break][break]

So it was a miserable Dratini slithered off near one of the artificial lakes, head hung low and just… being generally miserable. Why were all the other Pokémon so mean to her, she hadn’t even done anything and she’d just gotten there![break][break]

She's angry. Beyond angry. So angry, in fact, that she had gone around bullying and messing with the weaker Pokemon that happened to be too close to her in her bad mood.[break][break]

She was River's strongest Pokemon. He counted on her for everything, but because she hadn't performed well against a fully evolved dragon, she had been cast aside and left in a daycare to 'get stronger'. That she had 'disappointed him.'[break][break]

In her frustration, she soon comes to the conclusion that the small pool of young Pokemon she's picking fights with are absolutely no match for her. The Shinx begs the question then, publically.[break][break]

"Who is the strongest one here? I challenge you!"[break][break]

Apparently, the strongest or 'most feared' Pokemon was this super scary and super big Dratini that had gone off to sleep or something. So, Shinx made it her mission to sniff it out and surprise it with a super powerful sneak attack.[break][break]

Her mouth hangs open as she sucks in a breath, a

roar

tearing past her throat as she intends to

intimidate

the Dratini and start a fight.

She wanted to go back into the water.[break][break]

The problem was, even the Water-types were avoiding her! How was she going to deal with that, anyway? That was why she had wedged herself into this corner, hoping to sleep off the cold and wait until she was back home with the other Pokémon in Fortree—but then again it was too cold for her there and she didn’t like that.[break][break]

Just as she was about to settle down for another nap, a very loud noise startled her awake—and she looked up in time to see that there was another Pokémon who was headed her way.[break][break]

But… for some reason this one wasn’t smiling, it was baring its fangs![break][break]

The loud Roaring noise had effectively startled her awake and now she just gaped at the Shinx.[break][break]

“What’s the big idea?” she asked at last, staring right at the Electric-type. “Are you out of your mind?”[break][break]

Out of reflex, she Leered at the Shinx, hoping to drive this one away. She just wanted a nap, dang it! Now she was about to be thrust into a fight! “I don’t know what’s got you so upset but—“ she continued, preparing to lash back at the Electric-type should the need arise.

The leer is mildly effective, but only because Shinx isn't the most brave or confident little kitten. Regardless, she shakes off the dread that makes her paws seem a little heavier, and she continues to stare down her newfound opponent.[break][break]

"I was told you're the one to beat. You're the Pokemon with the fat reputation for being the toughest Pokemon here. I'm here to take that rep from you by force. I'm no weakling."[break][break]

Electricity sparks across her fur as she begins to

charge

her energy. The effort of it makes her fur stand on end as she prepares to pick a fight.

“And who told you?” the Dratini huffed, uncoiling herself from the tight little spring she had already wound herself into. Man, she was preparing herself to take a nap but this… this Shinx wanted to butt heads with her.[break][break]

“Alright, if you want to butt heads with me… fine,” she continued as she took a deep breath and began to summon a howling whiplash of debris around her. While it wasn’t as powerful as she wanted it to be, the Twister served to protect her—for the moment.[break][break]

“Come any closer and you’re going to get this,” she added, doubling up as another Twister whipped and howled around the first, the funnel of flying debris and wind buffering itself before she flicked her tail and sent it forward, spreading out in a circle.[break][break]

It was an attempt to surround the Shinx, before the attack itself began closing in around it like a vise. Hopefully it would be scared off by the Twister. If it wasn’t, then she would have to resort to other means…[break][break]

…and she really didn’t want to resort to other means because come on, that would be too much![break][break]

Either way, she braced herself for whatever the agitated Electric-type would throw at her.

"Uh, the whole daycare? Are you dumb?"[break][break]

Shinx takes one subtle step back when the snake Pokemon uncoils. Her pretty blue scales reflect and shudder as they move and she's only momentarily mesmerised because she isn't here to be wowed. She's here to whoop ass.[break][break]

It doesn't take the Dratini to conjure a

twister

, and the Shinx's fur is tugged painfully and awkwardly as the miniature storm ruffles her fur.[break][break]

She hunkers down despite the storm surrounding her, and her fur crackles with energy as she begins to

charge

once again. However, this time she unleashes the built up pressure of power. It explodes and breaks the

twister

apart as she

discharges

her energy in a wide arc. [break][break]

Shinx jumps out of the mess of electricity, her fur crackling with it as she lunges forward to pin down the Dratini and really begin this wrestling match.

“You’re such a meanie!” the Dratini exclaimed, bracing herself as the Electric-type continued to show aggression her way. Why were they so scared of Dragon-types?[break][break]

They weren’t special at all, especially when it came to Fairy-types arriving on the scene and knocking them down a notch.[break][break]

The Dratini let out a keening wail as the Discharge struck her, making her feel uncomfortable as the electricity coursed through her scaly skin. A few moments later, she realized that she couldn’t… move.[break][break]

What the heck had the Shinx done?![break][break]

She tried to move away, but she didn’t realize that she had been struck with Paralysis. Glaring at the Shinx, she concentrated before releasing a Dragon Rage attack at the Shinx’s direction.[break][break]

She would take the status condition… for the moment. The draconic burst of raging energy then attempted to lap at the Shinx’s fur and feet.

A meanie? Really? What was she, a baby? [break][break]

Shinx does not let up even at the Dratini's complaints and tears. She was far from scared - she was hungry for a fight, desperate to stick her claws in something and let them be her pin cushion. This Pokemon was actually a bore with how badly she fought back. What sort of glorified dragon Pokemon was she, anyway?[break][break]

The discharge paralyzes her but she manages to conjure some sort of dragon rage in response. She braces against it even as the wind tugs at her fur. Honestly, River would be relieved - less brushing to do later. Tufts of shed leave her form as the rage effectively de-sheds her.[break][break]

"My God you're pathetic. You aren't even worth my time, honestly. What a disappointment."

“How can you be so evil, then?” the Dratini retorted, forcing herself to ‘shed’ her skin by sheer force of will before watching the strange phenomenon fall off from her own body and she wiggled forward in the process.[break][break]

“You’re going to be a very nasty one when you grow up,” she continued as she looked over her newly-rejuvenated skin, checking if she could move around and wiggle just like she normally could before the Shinx started raising a riot about this.[break][break]

Giving an annoyed huff, she then slithered back to the nearby water’s edge before diving in, making sure to go in with as loud a splash as possible so that she could at least drench the Shinx out of sheer pettiness.
