There is a reason he chose the pass, this pass, it is usually rather sparse of people and many are too focused on where they are going to bother him. It lets him get out of the Stray for a bit without having to deal with the regulars on the street asking him why he seems almost, grumpy? Could you call it that? Not really. The man doesn't get grumpy. But he does get in a mood.

Evan Fader is in a hell of a mood.

"That's a loaded fucking question right now." normally fluid and gentle movements seem a bit more pointed, like everything he does is being accentuated by the air around him. His tongue sneaks across his teeth in a common show of agitation and he looks away from the other. He tries desperately not to be this way around people but right now it's a bit easier said than done.

Evan takes a deep breath, counts to ten and turns back to Orion. "I'm really sorry about that Orion, it's been a bit of a week." he sounds a bit more like himself but the tenseness in his muscles isn't quite gone. He's not relaxed, but he's not ready to jump or run either. He's sitting somewhere in between mad and not. "Thank you for asking but I'm just in a bit of a mood right now."

And the Vaporeon at his side wasn't helping, tugging at his pantleg like a child wanting attention.

"Absolutely no need to apologize." Evan insists, because there's nothing wrong with him asking. "It's not your fault at all." he feels bad for the answer, because he knows it's in no way the other man's problem it's entirely his and he needs to get his shit back under control.

Before he can get another word in a pokemon his vaporeon has been sniffing at tries to punch him and the pokemon hisses. Evan turns to the wild things with one of those looks. "Who do you think you are?"

The pokemon seems alarmed to be getting addressed at all. "Well? Who do you think you are? Punching things is rude. Shoo." it doesn't seem to know how to handle the way Evan is talking to it, almost winding up to punch the vaporeon again. "No. No you don't, shoo." he starts waving off the pokemon, getting more and more insistent with it until finally, it seem to obey, looking over its shoulder at him before leaving all together.

He turns back to Orion after a moment, making sure the pokemon would not be coming back. "Look, hun, I appreciate the offer but you really don't have to listen to me rant I'm a disaster when I'm in a mood like this and I don't expect anyone top but up with it."

Perhaps it's the habit of a recluse, because in reality Evan is far more so than most people realize. "Don't worry about it, I'll try and chill out." which was what he was doing anyway before Orion found him.

"Well maybe it shouldn't go around punching people then."

At least someone is finding amusement out of his behavior. It makes it easier for Evan to tolerate himself for the moment, feeling that this is too reminiscent of the way he used to be, a self he's tried too hard to leave behind to have it crop up again now.

He has to remind himself that it is okay to show a little more character now and again. Not every part of him played a part in the path he used to tread, and while the mellowness of his usual character is not a lie it's but a surface layer to what lies beneath. It is the nature he chose.

A nervous hand reaches for the back of his neck as he looks away for a moment, watching something in the sky as he thinks what Orion says over. He's found himself quite alright with the others company in the past, perhaps it wouldn't hurt to say something. The fact he's trying so hard to reassure him it's not that he has to explain himself only that if he wants to talk he can makes it a little easier to say something.

"Okay so like-" Evan talks with his hands, and it only seems to add another layer of attitude to what he's got to say. "Lets say, if you had a problem with somebody, like kind of a big deal problem, would you go to their home or place of business and start shit or would you go and talk to them like a decent fucking human being?"

His hands gesticulate the other/or of his question, his eyebrows arch slightly, head tilting ever so slightly with the rising annoyance. It's rather obvious what he thinks the answer should be obvious, it shouldn't even need to be asked and yet here he is, asking it anyway. Not realy of Orion of course, but just to be sure they'll be on the same page before he goes off.

Even if a pokemon thinks it might get close despite the scizor, the vaporeon's haughty gaze and tendency to hiss seems enough to ward the rest off while the humans talk. He'd rather just sit and listen to them anyway.

It's less Evan and more the sudden tenseness of his vaporeon that makes Evan move back out of instinct despite not being the target. Before he can get a word or action in edgewise though the other man has already begun to dispatch it, leaving Evan tense and annoyed again. He takes a deep breath, counts to ten and releases the air. "Because of course there was one of those blasted things on the pass tonight."

He tries really hard to give the pokemon the benefit of the doubt because in reality they were on its turf not the other way around. It had a right to defend its home. "Of course." it's a reminder to calm himself down.

At first the approaching slowking seems like a threat but Poise quickly lets down his guard, watching the pokemon with narrowed eyes as it makes a leisurely approach. It seems to have been attracted by the battle but instead of engaging itself the pokemon uses its heal pulse on no one in particular before wondering off and Evan's grateful for just a moment to breath before he focuses back in on Orion.

"First you should work on that hun." Because it's much easier to focus on other people than it is to focus on himself. A piece of advice is far easier for him to spout than his own reality. "I get it, most people hate confrontation but that's half your problem." though his words are serious the bubbling annoyance makes it difficult for him to keep the even tone they would normally be delivered with.

"Stop looking at it as confrontation. Confrontation makes it sound like a battle or a fight or an argument. Look at it as you just talking, setting boundaries. The other half literally doesn't matter. They doesn't exist while you're talking, you are saying your piece and seeking a discussion about the topic and if they choose to make it a confrontation that's on them." he's talking with his hands again.

"But yes, some punk hung around after closing and tried to start shit with me and to be totally honest with you?" it's only phrased as a question by his tone, as if looking for permission to be honest. He doesn't wait for it.

"Shouldah punched him. I didn't. But I wanted to. Who the hell comes into someone's business, someone's home and starts shit?" it was a blatant lack of respect and he hated it.

"Sometimes being the bigger man isn't satisfying though." it's a little more snippy than he intends for it to be, but to be honest it was supposed to stay in his head not be said out loud. It's a bad habit though, talking like no one is there. a byproduct of a life style where no one was ever really there. Most presences where fleeting even when they meant something. "Yes it was galarian by the way"

Evan's not really paying attention to their surroundings right now, the path ahead and behind is mostly quiet anyway and there's no need to really split his attention right now, it means he can focus on the conversation with Orion and trying not to be too riled.

He takes a moment to breath. "You'll get there, okay? It takes a lot of time and effort but you'll get there. Trust me, I know I seem pretty unbotherable but I wasn't always this way I had to choose to be. And then actually being-"

He's oblivious to the shaking pokeball on his belt, not quite catching it while he talks to Orion. The vaporeon at his side seems to stare at the ball intently however.

"Well you can see how that works out some days."
