It's fairly loud in the contest hall, the chatter and laughter of many potential couples mingling with the clink of glasses and the occasional Pokemon cries. Such big crowds intimidate the professor, but the presence of the Sylveon trotting at his heels is enough to ground him.

He's a little late, in truth, because his anxieties had delayed his entry for the first round of match-ups.

It hardly diminishes when he's given a table and approaches it only to see — is that who he thinks it is?

He ducks his head almost shyly before resolving himself to ask, "Forgive me if I am being too direct, but you are Monsieur Grandier, no?" He'd heard whispers of the name when he'd been working up the courage to join in on all the fun, but he hadn't considered the prospect of being paired with him. He finally remembers that he's supposed to sit down: his Sylveon jumps into his lap and settles, purring like a cat. "I am no coordinator myself, but I like to follow the competitions. Professor Florian Laurel. It is lovely to make your acquaintance."
