MARCH UPDATE

Okay, needless to say when he was out of his prime, he really meant it.

But when that strange new game was sweeping through the region like a storm, how… how was he to refuse it? It would give him a chance to be someone different… and boy, he wanted to heft a sword around and just smack other people with it.

Of course, he spent relatively little time in the character creation screen, opting to stay mostly the same, only changing a few details here and there.

The most important detail he altered was the scar on his forehead. Here, in the game, he was free to look like whatever, yet all he chose was to change his hair color to brown, and wear a pair of glasses (because in the back of his head it looked perfectly fine).

Oh, and let’s not forget the fancy-ass clothing he meticulously picked out, okay?

Now that he was done, he was then taken to the… ‘tutorial zone’.

Where was he?!

"Hmmm...."

Evan muses to himself, deeply rooted in the tutorial messages that he sees around him. Trying to parse exactly what was expected of him here was something else entirely from what he was expecting to spend the evening on. He agreed to come along only because Lars seemed so interested, in his own mind gaming wasn't really something he was into.

"Let's see..."

The voice is rather gravelly, debating what to do as he walks aimlessly, the hulking figure he's taken on for the sake of the game thudding in expected steps as he walks across the tutorial field. He almost doesn't realize the nearly familiar face until he's within eyesight, noticing instantly just how little he seemed to actually change about his appearance.

Evan stands there staring at him through the skull face he's chosen, waiting to see how long it takes Lars to realize it might be him. The aesthetic should be expected after all.

Looking around, he wondered if he was going to go through this alone…

…until he saw something approaching him, complete with skull for a head! Quickly reaching for the sword he had with him, he pulled it out before holding it aloft in front of him.

“I was expecting a training grounds spawn, but what the heck?!” he exclaimed out of surprise, still holding the sword in front of him. “If you’re a boss… well, this game glitched out so bad you’re not supposed to appear in the starter’s area! What the hell!”

Of course, he didn’t know that this was Evan… at least, until the other figure would speak to him.

Yikes!

He towers over the other man, normally not the case but it makes the way he retrieves his weapon more amusing than it might normally be. He's glad he's chosen someone with such gusto behind him.

The comment however, makes him give himself away.

Evan laughs, something boisterous and filled with gravel from deep in his virtual lungs. It hold the same mirthful tone that he is known for in the real world.

"If that were true, don't you think I would have smited you already little warrior?" without hesitation he reaches out with the gnarled wooden staff in his hand to bop the now smaller man on the head with a much softer chuckle.

Surely he'll figure it out, won't he?

“Correction, it’s smote, and what the—“ he trailed off, looking up just in time to see that he had gotten bonked atop his head with what appeared to be a healer’s staff.

“Oh, Arceus, please don’t tell me that’s—“ he continued, squinting as much as he could at the much-larger individual in front of him, before somehow, somewhere, in his mind, it clicked.

“What. The actual. Fuck,” he blurted out once he managed to put two and two together once his shocked brain had managed to catch up with the sheer reality of what he was facing.

“E—Evan?!” he went on, blinking a few times before rubbing the spot on his forehead. “First of all, ouch, and second—why did I have a feeling you were going to go for that?” he added as he stepped back a bit to get a better look at his visage.

“You really went for the ‘large and in charge’ image, huh?”

and now watch him make a fool out of himself in front of Evan!
