Thankfully, today was going to be a ‘training day’.

With his… were they boyfriends at this point? He sure liked to think so!

Once he’d added Leafae to his friends list, it was all too easy to poke and send a random message—because the other would answer lickety-split! He was still unsure on how the ‘training’ threads worked, but if it was going to be with Florian, oh, he was game for that any day!

The two were now going through the Dragnor wilds, which proved to be easy pickings for the Healer with him.

“So,” Alexei began once Florian was done enthusing, “…you think we can find some super-rare loot in this area? I mean, with a kingdom named Dragnor, you’re definitely top pick here,” he continued with a chuckle. He knew that he had three attacks, and two of them would work.

One was super-effective.

“So just drop icicles on anything that moves?” he went on, pulling out the tome from underneath his robes.

“Look out they’re not as—whoa!” he yelped, quickly pulling Florian backwards as he recognized the signs of the incoming Twister attack.

“Not so cute,” he corrected a few moments later, allowing the Healer to dispatch one of the two Dratini. Now that there was one left, this one was upset—where was its companion?! Noooooo! Instead of lashing out with a Twister, this one lashed forward in a show of menace…

…if one could call a Dratini using Dragon Rush a menace because they still looked so cute!

“Oh, no, you don’t,” he said, standing his ground and opening the tome he had with him. One directional wave of his arm later, a series of frozen spears of ice came crashing down around and across the Dratini. Instead of crashing into the Mage, it ended up hitting the solid chunks of ice.

Another directional flick of his arm and a second round of Icicle Crash came raining down around the Dratini, trapping it inside the cold, unmoving ice spears before hearing it squeal as it froze and exploded into tiny little pixels.

“Well, that’s that,” he continued a few moments later.

As the ice thawed, he saw that there were a few things scattered here and there. “Ooh, look, some loot! Wonder what this does,” he thought out loud. Before he could walk over, the loot had deposited itself into his own Inventory.

Well that saves me a lot of time walking, he thought with a grin on his face—only for two Dragonair to come over. “Okay, what’s the betting the next ones that’ll show up are Dragonite?” he joked in the Healer’s direction. Seeing that he was busy with one, the other Dragonair then came pelting his way with a Twister.

Another directional hand gesture made another Icicle Crash attack materialize into reality, the frozen spears crashing down around the Dragonair and interrupting the second Twister. While it had hit him somewhat, the effect was almost negligible.

“Going Ice was a good idea,” he continued with a chuckle as he threw out a second Icicle Crash barrage before the other Dragonair could even launch what he recognized as a Hyper Beam.

“This is too quick… you think we’ll get something of a challenge?” he chuckled a few moments later.

The same loot from earlier popped into his notification window, saving him the trouble to pick up the virtual loot. No sooner had his inventory increased by a paltry few pieces, he heard Leafae’s voice calling out to him and he looked up—oh, dear Arceus.

“Look, I didn’t know it was going to happen! I presumed because evolution order!” he wailed, seeing that the Dragonite was headed right for the Healer.

Thankfully his health bar was blinking a bright green, back up to full—only for him to see the other’s health bar go down into orange for the briefest of moments. “OI!” he yelled at the Dragonite, drawing its attention once the Healer had used Draining Kiss to heal himself back up.

“STAY AWAY FROM MY BOYFRIEND!”

With that he flung his arm forward, summoning not just one, but two successive Icicle Crash attacks. There was no way one measly flurry of frozen spears was going to be enough to bring this Dragonite down. Even if he didn’t have one of this Pokémon yet, he knew how stubborn they were.

A roar from the draconid and a Fire Blast launched from its maw made him rush in front of the Healer, before muttering quietly under his breath and using Extrasensory to deflect most of the flames, spreading it aside and dancing by harmlessly.

“Not today!” he continued, throwing out his hand again and summoning two more Icicle Crash attacks, surrounding the Dragonite. Another Icicle Crash attack was dropped for good measure.

Looking over at his mana bar, he was not surprised to see that it was hovering in the lower end of the scale once the Dragonite had been contained.

“Oof,” was all he could say after that last spell-slinging bout of overprotective insanity.
