[attr="class","athread"]Any good Pokemon needed to have good judgement. Being able to make their own calls on when to fight, when to back down and when to call in their master. The theory was sound, but as was often the case with Annie, the way she put it into practice was a bit less understandable.

A portion of the Solar Squad (name pending) had been charged with leading their safari hunt. While Annie held the Pokeballs, and therefore the final decision, an almost full team of her Pokemon scoured the zone, entrusted with finding announcing the safari’s best. Firebolt and Firefly scoured the skies, Queenie and Kingpin kept close to each other and Cloud hovered above the tall grass. Their final companion waited in the Pokeball in Annie’s hand. Her ability would be needed when their first battle began, but until then…

[attr="class","athread"]The team knew better than to disturb Annie over a Dunsparce, which was great because it held no love for them either. The little beast took one look at the troupe of Pokemon too big to be at home in the safari zone and quickly decided that it wanted nothing to do with them. The little snake turned and shuffled its way out of the scene as fast as it could, leaving the squad to continue their search for something better.

[attr="class","athread"]A Reckless Starly picked the wrong battle – but then, that was what they did best, wasn’t it? Annie watched the Brave Bird slam into Kingpin, but knew better than to give orders. Her Pokemon didn’t need to be told to defend themselves in the face of a threat. Such enough, the royal beasts rained down on the threat within seconds. Queenie’s Trop Kick introduced the bird’s face to the ground, giving Kingpin enough time to recover and follow up with an X-Scissor. The bird was left unconscious on the ground, under the watchful gaze of a Tsareena daring it to try again.

Annie kept quiet, though the smile on her face said enough.

[attr="class","athread"]Funnily enough, a Solosis had been part of the reason Annie had arrived at the Safari Zone… But the cell that appeared wasn’t the one for her. It was too normal, and a girl with as many exotic Pokemon as her wouldn’t settle for less if she could help it. She’d informed her Pokemon as much, too – though Firebolt eyed the Solosis from above, he knew better than to send the trainer chasing after it. Their trip in the zone had just begun, and so they had no reason to compromise themselves.

[attr="class","athread"]The moment that Firebolt saw the Rookidee bouncing across the field to the Solar Squad, he knew what had to be done. He’d been there when Knightwing had yet to evolve, and remembered how he fought anything and everything with a ferocity much too big for his size. Lucha Libre had since taken his place as the team’s overly-aggressive bird, but judging by the blue blob he eyed, the trait was common amongst their kind.

A Flamethrower made quick work of the little bird before it could become a nuisance to the team, carefully controlled so as to not set the entire area alight.

[attr="class","athread"]Finally, something worth calling out. At least Firefly seemed to think so. Her eager buzzing caught the boss’ attention, and she turned to see… A rock pup. “Cute little guy. Seems like it could be handy… But not just yet.” She stayed her hand, but a sympathetic smile tried to stem the bug’s disappointment. “You’re on the right track, though! We might get one later, though.” That, she hoped, was enough to keep the Volcarona content. It was always hard to tell with bug beasts.

[attr="class","athread"]The sands picking up caught Annie’s attention long before her Pokemon could – mostly because they were miles from the desert. It could have only meant a fellow weatherman was nearby. The talent took the form of a little land shark, seconds of being at the epicentre of a sandstorm. “That’s the one!” A pointed finger gave the Gible the attention of the entire squad. It had but two seconds to reconsider the choices that had led it there before the assault began.

Firefly was first, releasing a spiral of silk to ensnare the dragon, stopping it on acting on its urge to escape. Worse still, it acted as extra fuel for Firebolt’s flamethrower, scorching the beast, sapping it of its strength and leaving it ripe for the taking. Annie’s Pokeball would meet little resistance, and the Sandstorm began to fade shortly after its master was captured.
