The most boring thing that a ranger could do was patrol areas. It was basically just a few hours of walking around or standing around and just waiting to see if by chance anything happened. Corbin had a severe disliking for officially being on patrol, all he could do was wait around and just wait for something to occur.

But if he was wearing his mask and acting like a vigilante he could do whatever he wanted while unofficially patrolling, he could get more violent with criminals then he legally could, he even had the option to instigate things with people on purpose. Not that he ever did that but the choice was always on the table.

When the man found out he had to patrol part of Slateport city he had one simple request that he asked of the league before he actually got to work, and that was just to send someone to patrol with him. While he used the excuse of two being more efficient then just one in the case something serious goes down he really just wanted some company. He didn't care who it was as long as they could keep him from going insane from boredom.

For now Corbin simple stood against the nearest wall in his uniform, smoking a cigarette as he casually waited for whoever the league made come along.

She stands displaced amongst the bustling crowd of the lower district, hands pressed firm within the secure confinements of her leather coat all while an all too tired gaze skims across the bustling masses, searching. Her purpose in Slateport is not one derived from her own accord, instead, she is sent here to appease the wishful whims of the League– to appease the wishful whims of an unfamiliar face.

So she continues to stand there, chin poised in the slightest as she searches for the familiar in a situation that breathes the unfamiliar to her and it takes her a moment to notice, takes her a moment to notice the ranger pressed against the wall of a cobbled building and how he stands lax all while smoke unfurls past his lips.

It does not take her long to move from her own position in the crowd to join his side when the pieces of the mystery align with one another, “The League is getting lax.” She would announce her arrival, a simple understatement as she stands opposed from him; she is no better herself– worse even.

Despite not knowing the person who would be showing up Corbin had a feeling that his day would get a bit better just because someone else was there.

After all unless the person was just super rude then everything should be fine right? He wasn't left waiting for too long before he saw a random guy approaching him, at first he thought it was the other ranger and was prepared to say something when the guy just asked to borrow a cigarette from him. All Corbin really did was shake his head and let the other guy know that he didn't have anymore and that sent the stranger on their way.

He did have a couple left but not enough that he'd be willing to give one away to a stranger.

A few minutes after the random encounter with the guy Corbin glanced over at a woman that was approaching him, before looking away for a moment. He wasn't shy or anything the previous encounter just made him weary about random people trying to borrow stuff off of him. Though once he heard the woman say something about the League getting lax he could guess she was his partner for the day.

With a little chuckle Corbin shrugged his shoulders as he looked back over at the woman. "Maaaybe a little bit, it just some patrol work. Not the kind of thing we really have to dress up and be on our best behavior for." With that said the man leaned off of the wall, flashing the woman a quick friendly smile. "Nice to meet ya Im Corbin Carson, if the smoking bothers you just let me know and I'll put it out alright?"

His explanation is simple and brief in regards to her teasing words, something she assumes is a mean to dismiss her, a mean to disregard her– so she chooses to stand before him with head tilted in the slightest to acknowledge the cigarette held loose between his fingers, “Wren.” Blunt and to the point, an introduction.

Her attention soon settles– a fleeting look– onto the ranger the moment he continues to speak and she hums underneath her breath to affirm her acknowledgement before she leans forward with a free hand; quietly plucking the loose cigarette from his hold and into her own, “I could care less what you do.” She admits, malice void from her voice when she chooses to speak to him; the end of his cigarette nearly being brought to her lips before she pauses and chooses to dispose of it on the ground instead– a stomp of her foot and the flame is snuffed.

Crumpled against the hard pavement of the ground, she moves her foot away from the discarded cigarette and she removes her other hand from her pocket; a pack of cigarettes now resting in her own hand, “Is that all The League wanted, some patrol work to be done?” She questions him as she plucks a cigarette out of the box, stowing it away, and with a flick of her lighter the end of it ignites.

“Seems like something you could have handled yourself.”
