It didn't take Riley too long to stumble across a pokémon after walking around in the tall grass. Though a bit ironically the wild pokémon didn't come out of the grass but instead was perched on the branch of a nearby tree. In all honesty the man wasn't sure how he didn't notice the Fletchling perched on the branch before he started to walk around.

Now however he was close enough that the wild bird had noticed him as well, staring at the bird silently Riley sat there as it chirped at him. The wild pokémon didn't seem aggressive or anything just cautious. For a moment Riley thought about battling it or trying to capture it but he didn't really need it.

The bird was part fire and flying type when it was fully evolved, the same kind of typing as his Charizard. There wasn't a need for something that he wouldn't use over his Charizard.

With a small wave Riley simply kept on moving through the grass as the Fletchling flew away.

Having parted ways with the wild Fletchling that he stumbled across Riley kept on moving throughout the tall grass in search of wild pokemon. After a couple minutes of just aimlessly walking around the young man noticed a pokemon a few feet away in a different grassy path. From what he could tell it was green and had big scythe like arms, which meant it was of course a Scyther. Nothing else really fit that description as far as Riley knew.

Being able to make the pokemon out before it actually noticed him was a bit of a good thing, he had the drop on it right now and could sneak by it if he wanted. Though he couldn't really remember if Scythers were aggressive or not, though he was willing to bet his left arm they were more aggressive then the Fletchling he found. Deciding that it was time for a quick battle Riley glanced back at his Castform mumbling out a quiet "Use Sunny Day, then Weather Ball it." Fire was a great way to take care of bugs.

Opening its mouth up Castform launched a faint orange ball into the sky, the ball flying up and up before eventually bursting in the air, causing the area to become brighter as the sun intensified. Waiting until after its ability kicked in and its form shifted over to its sunny mode Castform opened its mouth up again and fired an even larger glowing orange ball, this time in the Scythers direction. The Weather Ball attack collided with the bug pokemon in the back, sending it right down to the ground with one quick powerful attack.

Flashing his pokemon a quick smile for a job well done Riley kept on moving.

After the previous Weather ball attack slammed into the wild Scyther Riley waited a few moments before actually continuing the little journey. He wanted to make sure it was absolutely knocked out before continuing, the last thing they needed was a pokemon attacking them from behind. A few moments of quietly waited passed before the gym leader decided it was probably fine and began making his way through the grass with his castform yet again.

For the second time today their next wild pokemon encounter came from above instead of from within the tall grass. As the duo walked along Riley eventually noticed a shadow out of the corner of his eye, turning to look the man was met with the sight of an Emolga gliding from tree branch to tree branch.

The wild Emolga didn't really capture his interest at all, he already had an Emolga of his own after all and they were a cinnamon roll too precious for this world. Deciding to just ignore the wild one Riley continued his search.
