His excuse was that he forgot his wallet at home - but he was really just being a dick. When the food vendors weren't looking he'd lift something off their wares. A popsicle, a hotdog(fully dressed), a hot cross bun. Anything he could get his hands on.

[attr="class","lancepost"]lance is off duty and it would have been so easy for him to just turn a blind eye. but his sense of duty compels him to follow the thief along the streets of oldale. he closes the distance easily and uses the cover of the crowd to remain undetected. and it isn't until the man is an arm's reach away does he notice the luxio.

His Luxio sparks with surprise, a DISCHARGE traveling up Lance's shoes - hopefully they were rubber.[break][break]

But River books it, fully prepared to get out of jail free. No way in hell was he gonna pay for any of that shit.

[attr="class","lancepost"]whatever little rubber is in his shoes does little to counteract the shock of the DISCHARGE. lance tenses up but remains on his feet. he wants to reach an arm out to grab the man but is unable to; all he can do is watch the man run away.

haha jk.

when the electricity starts to die down and feeling returns to his body, he brings a hand to his belt and calls out his gothorita. "stop him." but they're too far away for anything other than a PSYCHIC that looks to trip the man.

lance follows.

He's running, going, going, gone -- wait, fuck.[break][break]

"Ouch!"[break][break]

His shoes become tied together and he launches forward, making a complete fool of himself and effectively yanking at the dress of an unsuspecting woman. She screams in surprise and embarrassment and it acts as a temporary cover. While the woman runs to Lance for help, River is ditching the shoes to carry them as he takes off around the corner.[break][break]

Luxio is not far behind, tucking her tail in as she takes the corner and pressing up against the alleyway, hiding herself in the dark.

[attr="class","lancepost"]the distraction proves useful as lance stops to help the woman with her dress, not flustered in the slightest but perhaps annoyed that he had lost sight of the thief. even his psychic-type's unable to detect their presence but to be fair maybe she isn't really trying. she had just woken up from her nap, after all.

lance continues his search after but he will find nothing.
