After he’d secured the Chespin, his search continued. Hilariously, he was wondering if this was going to turn out similar to how much time he’d spent looking for a Scorbunny—only in this case it was either going to be a Lurantis, a Drapion, or a Cacturne.

The ‘Great Desert’ didn’t yield the Cacnea he was looking for, so he was forced to turn to a different method to search for the danged thing. Unfortunately, this also meant he would have to be trawling through mucky stretches of grass in the Petalburg Woods.

When and where was he going to find the Pokémon he was searching for? There were three of them and he wondered how long he was going to be in here and if he was going to be free of this place…

The first thing that caught his attention was the humming sound not too far overhead. Looking up, he thought he was seeing things—at least until he realized what was flitting above him.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the one he was looking for—well, at least not actively yet anyway. Sighing, he decided to leave the Beautifly alone to its own devices before continuing deeper into the undergrowth.

Honestly, when was he going to find a Lurantis or a Cacturne out here? Was he going to resign himself to be living the ‘hippie life’ in the forest while searching for the last few Pokémon on his ‘I need these in my life’ list. Well, he’d been through worse no thanks to that Scorbunny, and he was pretty sure his Ranger friend was going through absolute hell as well.

The next thing he sees and it’s a lost lit6tle Hoppip, hovering around the area and causing a racket. Knowing that any kind of Pokémon that was trying to draw attention to itself was a bad idea, he immediately steered clear of the dual-type in case trouble wasn’t too far behind.

Despite it being of the Flying-type, well…

He hoped that he would be able to encounter what he was looking for. Otherwise he would have to continue searching through the undergrowth.

And it wasn’t like he was looking for a Scorbunny or anything like that! It was strange, really…

The last thing he encountered—admittedly, if he didn’t already have one he would be totally fine with getting a second Grovyle.

But the thing here was that he already had a Sceptile, and those were good Pokémon. He sighed, before watching the bipedal gecko Pokémon dart around, flash-running from tree to tree before disappearing.

Alexei wondered where it was running off to? Had it possibly found something that was worth his while?

He then made up his mind to follow after the Grovyle—but at a distance.
