Gwen places his knuckles in the palm of her hand, and with her other, slowly peels back the blood-dampened cloth. It isn't as bad as she'd anticipated, and he would soon inform her the same. Even still, she can see a tiny shard of glass still buried in his hand. It would only cause more damage if left in.[break][break]

"Hold still, this might hurt."[break][break]

The woman reaches for her Ralts, offering the Pokemon words of encouragement. Given that she didn't have any real tools on hand to fish out a sliver, she was counting on the little Pokemon to help with it's psychic abilities. [break][break]

Turns out, she wasn't misplaced in her judgement. Before long, the glass is fished out enough for her to pinch between her fingers, and she plucks it without warning. [break][break]

"Perhaps I should have counted down. My apologies, sir."[break][break]

Her dark eyes flick up to meet his violet ones before blinking and looking away. She flags down the bartender for a shot of vodka before dumping it on his hand. Once again, without warning. Then she wraps it back up with the cloth, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze.[break][break]

"What mess?"[break][break]

Her lips twitch in a subtle smile as she glances over her shoulder to the already cleaned-up mess. She retracts her hands from his, setting the shard of glass in the now-empty shot glass.[break][break]

"Are you sure you're alright? You look feverish."

Fingers curl around his elbow, and her eyes are sharp and meticulous as they look him over. His groaning is difficult to navigate at first, and she only lets go of him when she sees that he's suffered a cut to his hand. To be expected, given he'd landed on the beer tray. Lucky for him, alcohol was supposed to be disinfecting. She wasn't totally convinced the cheap beer here was good enough- but she didn't have anything else on hand immediately.[break][break]

On the way out of the carnage, he reaches for a cloth. The man he grabs it from scowls but, from beneath her scrutinizing gaze, doesn't argue. The bleeding man puts a hand on her shoulder and she helps him out of harm's way. Someone else would come to clean it up and she would almost certainly be let go- but her shift was ending anyway.[break][break]

"Let me see your hand."[break][break]

It comes out as a demand and she has to remind herself that this isn't Amor Rose she's speaking to. With an awkward clear of her throat, Gwen attempts to reiterate:[break][break]

"I-- if that's alright, I mean. I'd like to ensure there isn't still glass in your hand."

It is a combination of Ralts' squeal and Gwen's reflexes that result in disaster. The woman turns on her heel suddenly, dark eyes searching the ground for white and mint green. But just as soon as she finds him, her tray is jostled out of her hand. It slips past fine fingers, clattering to the ground. She gasps, stepping back just as the glasses shatter. Alcohol splashes up against her legs, but most importantly all over the young man on the floor.[break][break]

Warmth from a clingy Ralts spreads up her ankle, the little Pokemon trembling like a leaf.[break][break]

She is kneeling down to pick him up off the ground, but before she reaches him he says something out of character. Immediately she snaps her hand back in surprise and stares at him, incredulous.[break][break]

"I.. beg your pardon?"[break][break]

Someone past the crumbled body waves her down, imitating a broom. She nods, awkwardly sweeping broken glass aside with her foot while continuing to look down at the young man. Her hesitation given his phrasing is only temporary before she bends to pick him up by the elbow. The movement is swift and she quickly glances over him in fear he might be stuck with any pieces of glass.[break][break]

"... My apologies, sir. Are you injured?"

Glasses clink together and her hips sway to avoid being a drunk passerby. The blank face swipes one of the tall glasses of frothy beer, spilling it on the tray in their hurry. The woman repositions her hand beneath it, face contorting into a brief scowl. But her boss for this evening catches the dark shadow in her eyes and makes a gesture that would ultimately pull her out of her agitation.[break][break]

Since arriving in Hoenn she had met with uncharacteristically ill-behaved citizens. Their manners only worsened when inebriated, and this weekend of ren-faire partying had gone on much longer than she'd anticipated. [break][break]

But Gwen squares her shoulders and she takes a deep breath, taking a purposeful step forward. There would be one less drink for the table, but at this point she didn't really care. Frankly, she wasn't certain that the people who'd ordered them would even notice. [break][break]

Little did she know that those three drinks might soon turn into zero as yet another individual begins to cross her path. This time, however, it is not inebriation that encourages the incident, but a lost and overwhelmed Ralts that had escaped the woman's bag behind the counter. He had been sleeping not too long ago, but apparently his nap was over and he hurriedly attempted to reunite with his trainer.[break][break]
