[attr="class","sunshine"]"Happily!" Millicent says before, finally, stopping petting Rusty to lightly jog across the field. A few of the Wooloo mill about on the path to the fence. Millicent stops in front of an obviously fresh addition, the repaired portion of the barrier notable for its new slab of woods -- so young and potentially impermanent that they haven't even been painted.

"Mr. Green said that this is, like, where he thinks whatever -- or whoever -- is stealing his Wooloo breaks in," she says, gesturing in front of her.

The question about canine pokemon earns a shake of Millicent's head and a bashful expression.

"I worked with a few back in Sinnoh, but they weren't, like, exactly mine to take when I moved here," she admits, her tongue peeking out shyly between her teeth when she finishes the sentence. The mention of the Arcanine immediately perks her back up, though.

"Oh, I love Arcanine! They're so fluffy!" Millicent replies, bouncing again, "Please! I'd like, love to see how you two work together!"

[attr="class","sunshine"]Millicent chews her lip a bit. She was kind of hoping Darren would have some magical answer to their situation, but they are just two rangers. More like one and a half at the moment, since her outfit has her pretty limited. Preventing further damage is probably all they can do.

"Yeah, that makes sense," she replies, still smiling anxiously. Honeybunch is already hard at work. She stands on the blackened grass she just put out and is now back to blasting WATER GUN into the broken out windows and onto any stray sparks that threaten to light up the yard again.

The house next door once being merely licked at begins to quietly burn in one corner. It's slow building and out of sight to both Millicent and her Pokemon.

"Maybe we can . . . shoot," she mumbles, looking sadly over the already burning house, "Yeah I guess all we can do is, like, burn time until backup comes --- Oh that's awful! That wasn't a joke!"

Her face is red and very genuinely embarrassed when she looks back to Darren.

[attr="class","sunshine"]"That's so wonderful!" Millicent says, voice genuine and smile bright as she runs a hand through Darling's feathers, "It must be, like, really comforting to have such a big part of home with you wherever you go!"

The Staravia gets extra scritches on the feathers under his wings, so he's being literally preened when he preens himself internally at the praise. Millicent takes a moment to run her fingers down the insides of his wings, straightening out his feathers a little. He coos affectionately at the attention.

"I'm, like, a step ahead of you, pardner," she replies to Tallulah, smile growing a bit wider as she very intentionally puts a heavy Unovan dialect on the word 'pardner', "I had Darling here doing some recon; and I'm sure you did such a super amazing job didn't you?"

Darling coos again as Millicent drops her hand to reach into a pouch at her belt.

"Did you see anything, huh?" she asks and is met with a shake of the head from her pokemon. Oh well, guess that would be too easy. She gives him a treat from the pouch she was reaching into and throws her arm out -- sending him back into the sky.

"I can, like, show you where the owner thinks they've been breaking in?" she offers, turning to fully face Tallulah again. A hand absently reaches out to pat the side of Rusty's face kindly.

[attr="class","sunshine"]Millicent walks through the darkened Hills with a smile on her face and a skip to her step. Technically she's here on business, and usually when it's business time she tries to keep things mostly serious, but this job isn't some big deal or anything. The power's out in the area and she's just supposed to make sure no-one causes any trouble under cover of a lightless night.

Well, almost lightless. As she skips about she waves the ray of a flashlight left and right in front of her. If she were using it to guide her steps it would be useless; but she's not. Millicent is instead using it to play with her Buneary. Sweetpea chases the spotlight like a starlet as it sweeps side to side.

"Like, you've almost got it Sweetpea! Just a little faster!" she taunts, giggling interspersed between her words. Giggling that cuts off suddenly when she thinks she sees something approaching.

"Attention, Sweetpea!" she orders, voice firm, and the Buneary stops playing before quite literally opening her ears. They swivel above her head before she points them in the direction of another light approaching. Like Millicent's flashlight moments ago it bobs along as if secured to something unsteady.

The moment is suddenly tense. The air filled with an awkward and uncomfortable silence. Then suddenly it's not once Millicent sees what's approaching. A smiling Infernape. A smile of her own spreads across her face as her shoulders suddenly sag, relaxed.

"Well what are you doing out here, sweetheart?" she questions the approaching pokemon, "Did you, like, get lost in the blackout?"

[attr="class","sunshine"]For a moment Millicent gets to focus on the fire. With civilians properly warned and distanced she turns around to address the house. She gives a short, affirmative nod at the sight of Honeybunch's chosen target before looking around. She catches sight of the burning yard and is quickly snapping to get her Bibarel's attention.

"Good job, Honeybunch, but right there! See that, like, little trail of fire? Make sure that doesn't spread!" she commands and Honeybunch gets to work. WATER GUN swings from the window to the grass. Then it shifts, arcing higher and lower, sweeping side to side. Desperately attempting to outrun the flames.

Millicent turns around again at the sound of her name. She flashes a tired, anxious smile at Darren as he approaches.

"I'm not on duty right now, so much for days off right?" she says with an uncomfortable giggle, "House fire. Don't know what part of the house it started in or why, but it's, like, pretty much spread everywhere inside from what I can make out."

She points to the house as she speaks -- dragging her pointer finger from the smoking front door, to the fire flashing in the kitchen window, to the stream of smoke pouring out of a window on the second story.

"As far as I know nobody's inside, but it's spreading fast, Darren. With how close these houses are to each other things could get, like, really seriously bad if we don't get it under control."

[attr="class","sunshine"]The heavy footfalls of her partner's Mudsdale announce her arrival before Millicent can actually see her. The excitement on her face when she does see the large pokemon approaching defies description. She's practically bouncing when the other woman dismounts.

Millicent wastes no time clearing the space between herself and the Mudsdale before showering it with affectionate pets and pats on its snout.

It takes a moment for her to take in the other person here; but she switches the focus of her attention smoothly. There's no embarrassment or bashfulness to be seen. She even keeps her right hand rubbing up and down the length of the Mudsdale's face, accepting Tallulah's own outstretched hand with her other.

"It's, like, super nice to meet you! And this big fella, too!" the moment she finishes shaking Tallulah's hand she's back to pampering the Mudsdale with both of her own, "I'm Millicent Mills! What's their name?"

She's looking in the Mudsdale's eyes when she asks the question; but then in a flash turns around with an open-mouthed expression. Apparently something just occurred to her.

Before her question can be answered or any questions of Tallulah's own can be posed she takes the pointer and middle fingers on both of her hands and slots them into the corners of her mouth. Then she whistles. Loud.

"Darling! We have company!" she shouts into the sky in a singsong voice, summoning a feathery silhouette that grows more and more distinct before landing on her outstretched arm. A Staravia (or as Millicent referred to him, "Darling").

[attr="class","sunshine"]The smoke is already thick. The summer heat mingles with the waves of hot air just wafting from the burning building. The scene is familiar to Millicent on an intimate level. Already she's scanning the building as she throws down a pokeball beside her.

Bibarel bursts forth, at first looking excited and curious before suddenly growing serious. Just like Millicent she's no stranger to this kind of situation. She clicks her teeth to let her trainer know she's paying attention.

"House fire, Honeybunch," she tells the pokemon in a hurry, "we're not suited up, so we're gonna focus on trying to keep it from spreading to too many other houses. We're only going in if there's anyone in immediate danger inside."

The fire is a surprise. Millicent was out shopping when the shouting started, and she's far from in uniform. The usual kind of large, fluffy dress she wears on her days off bounces and swishes as she looks around. With one hand she reaches into her purse and pulls out a badge.

"Okay guys!" she shouts to the crowd that's started to gather, "Keep your distance, okay? I'm a ranger! Me and my pokemon will do our best to, like, keep the fire in check; but I can't guarantee your safety if you get too close!"

With that she nods over her shoulder to Honeybunch. The Bibarel nods back before running her eyes over the house. Soon Millicent will be able to give her more specific instruction, but for now she spots a window billowing smoke and begins blasting at it with a WATER GUN.

It's a half measure. Already flames begin to spread across the yard and lick at the next house over.

[attr="class","sunshine"]"Like, don't worry about it Mr. Green," Millicent brightly reassures the anxious young man beside her. Her eyes scan the field of Wooloo as he speaks, pointing out bits of recently repaired fence and explaining that's where he's sure something has been coming to spirit away his livestock.

"It's, like, literally my job to do this; and I've been doing my job for a super long time!" she cuts him off as he begins to worry over whether one ranger can handle this, "I could do this job in my sleep -- not that I'm gonna sleep on the job or anything -- and if that doesn't make you confident enough I'm, like, totally not doing this job by myself. So it'll be even easier!"

Sure, Millicent doesn't know exactly who's coming to help her out. If they're even a ranger. But this is a pretty normal job all things considered. Be it poachers or an overeager Mightyena, it won't be her first time dealing with a threat like them.

"So, like, go back into the house. The sun's setting, and once my partner's here I'm gonna need all my attention to keep your sweet little Wooloo safe!"

As he reluctantly heads back home she goes to smooth her dress on reflex, only to frown when she remembers she's in uniform. The uniform is nice and all -- an honor to wear to boot -- but . . . it's so plain! She can't help but sigh heavily as she switches to instead double-checking that she's dressed to standard.

Born to pokemon breeders, Millicent helped around the family ranch from a young age and expected to become a breeder when the time came; but like many children, attempted the gym challenge. Like most, it went nowhere. Still, she would not return to breeding.

Millicent unexpectedly enlisted with the Pokemon Rangers at the age of sixteen after a personal life event; and she finished her ranger training in Sinnoh with an emphasis on disaster response and search and rescue.

Recently she joined a number of rangers in transferring to Hoenn. She hopes to put her skillset to use in the continued rebuilding of the region, and in the renewed conflict with Team Rocket.
