uri has definitely pulled all-nighters before, so he's not unfamiliar with them in the slightest. actually, he's perhaps pulled too many for one's lifetime, which might explain why he's still as chirpy as ever despite it being two in the morning.

"tired? i never feel tired."

a lie, as training usually kills him.

"are you tired?"

it's an all-nighter of a mission. apparently, it's important to be able to keep watch all night just in case they'd ever need to in the future, but he still finds it dreadful.

but he doesn't voice his complaints, at least not this time.

talk about character development.

"you thirsty, cap?"

he asks his captain as the two of them continue walking around the beaches of mossdeep, staying wary of their surroundings.

is it soppy? yeah, definitely, so he accepts it with ease.

"i'm not usually soppy."

he leaves it at that, letting the implications hang in the air for her to reach for should she want to.

for now, he reaches for more horse doves, eating them slowly as he stays close to her.

"aw, thanks."

she had not meant it as a compliment but he still takes it as one, pretty much accepting it in stride as he smiles in response.

"i mean i don't mind just sitting here munching on horse doves all night."

he shrugs.

"as long as you're here with me."

with another chuckle, he quickly pockets his phone before reaching for his glass of champagne for one final sip.

after placing it back down, he turns back to look at her, never having really pulled away from her space.

he smiles, innocent and warm.

"so, what now?"

it's a minute he spends simply watching her, admiring how hard she tries. he wonders if she'll actually get it, though it's more than likely the search engine will just suggest something to her eventually.

"took you long enough."

shifting closer to her, he brings the phone up to their ears and taps a button which makes it read the word.

he laughs after.

"wow we were not close at all."

"you know what? let's."

after another sip, he reaches into his pocket for his phone, sliding it unlock to a very cute picture of young uri and kachow, before quickly realizing he has no idea how to spell it.

he extends the phone over to her only to pick up one of the horse doves.

"how do you...spell it..."

"there's no way it's actually said like that."

he laughs, reaching for his glass of champagne.

"horse dee evores?"

his head shakes as he sips.

"i think mine sounds better, honestly."

maybe a little.

even if these words aren't completely honest, they make him happy and warm, and he shows it through the smile that appears.

it's a smile that stays even as she teases him yet again.

"yeah? horse doves? how else would you say it?"

there isn't much food, to be honest, and they'll likely have to go grab some more after this, but that's fine. it just means more time with her.

it doesn't sound like a joke but it never does, so he doesn't think much of it.

"you know you'll miss me."

maybe, maybe not, but he takes a bet, confident of his odds even when there's little to back it up.

"i managed to pick up a bunch of horse doves so we have a fine selection at the ready."

he gestures towards the plate, then slides a glass of bubbly champagne over to her.

"and more champagne, of course."

off at one of the quieter tables, uri places their drinks and food down in front of them before settling into the seat, quickly finding comfort as he extends his legs out.

"it really hurts, sol. i...i don't think i'm going to make it through the night."

so, still crying, obviously.

"still able to get you drinks and food, though, so that's something, surely."

he did, because he's experienced it firsthand, but again, it's not like he particularly minds.

"my poor foot..."

smiling, he follows after her, led by his hand toward where tables are set up off to the side. he expects they'll end up at one of the quieter ones, maybe off in the corner, so he makes sure to grab a couple of drinks and a plate of food for them on his way.
